When I used to have a lot of time in my hands; I used to make some handicrafts and one of them is making plush toy keychains then I gave them away for free when Christmas comes. Unfortunately I stop making those giveaways because of some inevitable circumstances.Today I'll share the step by step procedure on how I create plush toy keychains made of felt fabrics.
The items that we needed are:
1.Template;any designs and I use bear in this tutorial. I just draw a bear in any cardboard and cut the parts.
2.Felt fabrics: I'm lacking black and white for the eyes so I'll just use the red one with white spot design
3.Cotton fiber for the stuffings but you can just used those old clothes or the excess felt fabric cutouts.
4.Needle and threads
5.Scissors
6.Stainless steel wire and pliers for the keychain ring.
First we make our template's design ( Mine is a bear)..then trace the body the ears and the hands.(because I'm lazy I just use the inner ear as the pattern for outer ear and hands, I'll just make them a bit larger than the inner ear template).
I pick blue with snowflakes design as the bear's body, sky blue for the snout and red fabric with white dot for the eyes.
Sew the inner ear using either running stich or backstitch.
This is how it looks like in the back so you need to cover it with another felt fabric..You can either stich it using blanket stich or just glue them together.
Then in the snout; attach the nose by gluing or stiching.then using a running stich sew a small mouth.Sew the snout and fill it with cotton fiber or felt fiber cutouts before closing the stiches.
You can glue or stich the eyes and the other parts to the body template and by using back stitch; sew the body and fill with cotton fiber or some felt fabric cutouts before closing the stich.
In making the ring, I just twirl the metal around my ballpen and cut it with the plier.
And this is the finished product. I already put it in my emergency backpack..
You can make any designs and put some bows and clothes and you can put as much details as you like, there is no limit on being creative. Here are some of the old ones that I made where my materials are still complete..These plush toy keychains are already given 4 Christmas seasons ago..and I'm glad that those kids and even adults love them very much. Unfortunately I stop making those giveaways because of personal struggles and the pandemic ...but I like to start making them now for next Christmas.
You can also make them without the stuffings and make them as bookmarks too...You can make them smaller or larger depends on your preference.
I hope you get some gift idea and like the posts I shared today..I am planning to share more of my hobbies besides drawings and taking care of Maru (My beagle furrbaby) on the future blogs too..
