Pintar conlleva varios desafíos, cada textura donde se plasma un dibujo requiere de técnicas, material y esfuerzos diferentes.
Les presento un nuevo trabajo de Pintura sobre Tela, en esta oportunidad pintando algo referente a Olmedo, es una pequeña ciudad de la Provincia de Manabí.
A diferencia de Manta, que es un puerto, Olmedo está más alejado de la zona costera y por lo tanto, lo representa más el campo, la agricultura, los caballos y la iglesia bajo la loma. Principalmente cosechan maní y maíz 🌽, así que debía hacer dibujos alusivos a ello. Entonces puse manos a la obra creando un boceto con todo lo que iba a pintar en la falda.
Esta clienta me la consiguió mi prima, quien fue mi clienta de la falda anterior de la Ciudad de Manta. Yo tenía todo listo en cuanto a materiales ya que utilicé los mimos, pero cuando vi la falda: supe que Olmedo me daría trabajo.

Painting entails several challenges, each texture where a drawing is made requires different techniques, materials and efforts.
I present a new work of Painting on Canvas, this time painting something about Olmedo, a small town in the province of Manabí.
Unlike Manta, which is a port, Olmedo is further away from the coastal area and therefore, it is represented more by the countryside, agriculture, horses and the church under the hill. They mainly harvest peanuts and corn 🌽, so I had to make drawings alluding to that. So I set to work creating a sketch with everything I was going to paint on the skirt.
I got this client from my cousin, who was my client for the previous skirt in the City of Manta. I had everything ready in terms of materials as I used the mimes, but when I saw the skirt: I knew that Olmedo would give me a job.

Con lo difícil que es pintar sobre blanco, ahora imagine sobre una tela de color y lo peor, es que los dibujos que representan a Olmedo, tienen tonalidades en amarillo, así que esto lo dificultaba más todo. Sin embargo, puse mente positiva, preparé la tela, la pintura amarilla la oscurecí un poco más con un punto de pintura marrón, y comencé a pintar primero la palabra OLMEDO en negro, ya que noté que ese color resaltaría mucho más que el blanco.

The skirt was yellow! 😰😱
As difficult as it is to paint on white, now imagine painting on a coloured canvas and the worst thing is that the drawings representing Olmedo have yellow tones, so this made everything more difficult. However, I put a positive mind, prepared the canvas, darkened the yellow paint a little more with a dot of brown paint, and began to paint the word OLMEDO in black first, as I noticed that this colour would stand out much more than the white.
Lo segundo que dibujé fue el escudo, me dió mucho trabajo y llevó mucha pintura azul, ya que se volvía verde al secarse y aunque puse esfuerzo, nunca terminó de ser el azul que yo estaba buscando. Entonces sabía que me enfrentaba a un reto con la bandera y efecto, el azul no logra apreciarse bien, pues se torna verdoso, debido a que el color de la falda era amarillo. Entonces el trabajo era pintar, esperar que secara, volver a pintar, mezclar con blancos, volver a pintar y esto hacia que el trabajo se volviera tedioso.

After dealing with the blue tones, I drew the peanuts and the corn, then the horse, the church and the hill. It should be noted that all this was done freehand. As I could, I managed to make the river on the hill noticeable, working the mixture of the blue colours with the white until I managed to make it possible.
I didn't do any borders or anything to this skirt, as it was a coloured fabric, which complicated the work a lot. However, I was able to deliver it and the client was also very happy with the result, and the girl looked beautiful.

Después de lidiar con los tonos azules, dibujé el maní y el maíz, luego el caballo, la iglesia y la loma. Cabe recalcar que todo esto fue rralizado a mano alzada. Como pude logré hacer notable a el río en la loma, trabajando la mezcla de los colores azules con el blanco hasta lograr hacerlo posible.
A esta falda no le hice bordes ni nada, ya que por ser una tela de color complicaba mucho el trabajo. Sin embargo, pude entregarlo y la clienta quedó muy feliz también por el resultado, además la niña se veía hermosa.
PD: Si va a enviar a pintar una tela, hablé más con el dibujante que con la costurera, pregúntele sobre los tonos, pregunte si es mejor sobre blanco (qué siempre es mejor) y no lo sorprenda con una tela de color.

PS: If you are going to send a fabric to be painted, talk more with the designer than with the seamstress, ask about the tones, ask if it is better on white (which is always better) and don't surprise him/her with a coloured fabric.
