The list of things we could do is long, but in many cases, like mine, we have limited budgets and so we have to not only imagine a beautiful party, but we have to make the best use of resources to cover everything or almost everything we have in mind.

Es larga la lista de las cosas que pudiéramos hacer, pero en muchos casos, tal como el mío, tenemos presupuestos limitados y entonces tenemos que no solo imaginar una bella fiesta, sino que debemos hacer el mejor uso de los recursos para cubrir todo o casi todo lo que tenemos en mente.

Speaking of budget and celebration, my daughter Rafaella's 6th birthday is coming up. She wants us to do it on the occasion of Stitch, the alien character from the movie Lilo and Stitch, But also, this movie is set in a place in Hawaii, so also our celebration will have some flowers, flower garlands, tropical fruits and we'll see what else can be done. To start with the decoration I am going to make this three-dimensional flower model that looks beautiful and never goes unnoticed. Let's see how to make it.

Hablando de presupuesto y celebración, se acerca el cumpleaños número 6 de mi hija Rafaella. Ella desea que lo hagamos con motivo de Stitch, el personaje extraterrestre de la película Lilo y Stitch, Pero además, está película está ambientada en un lugar de Hawai, así que también nuestra celebración tendrá algo de flores, guirnaldas de flores, frutas tropicales y ya veremos qué más se puede hacer. Para empezar con la decoración voy hacer este modelo de flor tridimensional que queda hermosa y nunca pasa desapercibida. Veamos cómo hacerla.

The materials are the cheapest. In this case we will only use a sheet of cardboard. A pair of scissors. A sheet of Bond paper. Crepe paper. Silicone and pastel plaster if we want to add some shading to the petals.

Los materiales son de los más económicos. En este caso solo vamos a utilizar un pliego de cartulina. Unas tijeras. Una hoja de papel Bond. Papel crepe. Silicón y yeso pastel si es que deseamos colocar algo de matiz a los pétalos.

We make the petal pattern with the sheet of paper. As we are going to use four sizes, we can make only one petal and cut it out as we go along. So we are going to work from the largest to the smallest. We need to make 6 petals of 17 centimeters long by 13 centimeters wide. Then 6 petals of 14 centimeters long and we reduce one centimeter approximately on each side, with respect to the previous petal. 5 petals of 9 centimeters wide and we continue lowering the sides. Finally, 3 petals of 6 centimeters long and we lower the sides approximately one centimeter on each side.

Realizamos el patrón de pétalos con la hoja de papel. Cómo vamos a utilizar cuatro tamaños podemos hacer un solo pétalo y vamos recortando en la medida que vayamos avanzando. Por eso vamos a trabajar desde los más grandes hasta los más pequeños. Necesitamos hacer 6 pétalos de 17 centímetros de largo por 13 centímetros de ancho. Luego 6 pétalos de 14 centímetros de largo y rebajamos un centímetro aproximadamente de cada lado, respecto al pétalo anterior. 5 pétalos de 9 centímetros de ancho y seguimos rebajando a los lados. Por último 3 pétalos de 6 centímetros de largo y rebajamos a los lados aproximadamente un centímetro de cada lado.

Apply the pastel plaster on the edges and fix the pigment to the paper with your fingers and bend the tips backwards a little to give movement to the flower, then make a cut of approximately 2.5 centimeters in the lower middle part of the petal and place a little silicone and glue one part on top of the other forming an angle. If we are using cold silicone it is necessary to let it rest a little before gluing to make the process easier.

Aplicamos el yeso pastel en los bordes y fijamos el pigmento al papel con los dedos y doblamos un poco las puntas hacia atrás para darle movimiento a la flor.Luego hacemos un corte de 2,5 centímetros aproximadamente en la parte media inferior del pétalo y colocamos un poco de silicón y pegamos una parte sobre otra formando un ángulo. Si estamos utilizando silicón frío es necesario dejar reposar un poco antes de pegar para que sea más sencillo el proceso.

We cut a cardboard circle. Approximately 20 centimeters in diameter and glue the petals. First the 6 largest at the edge of the cardboard. Then the row of 5 petals following the same rule and finally the row of three.

Cortamos un círculo de cartón. Aproximadamente de unos 20 centímetros de diámetro y vamos pegando los pétalos. Primero los 6 más grandes al borde del cartón.
