It's Christmas time and I come bearing with gifts, not one, not two but three 🎁.
The other day I posted about my Christmas decorations and my DIY Hive Christmas cube. I said I'll show how you can make your own, here I am.
First of all, here's the template. You can download and print it out on normal A4 white paper if you have craft paper it works even better. The other things you need are scissors, glue, and a cutter.
Cut the cube from the template and lightly fold all the lines. A little tip, when you fold the edges where you will add glue, don't fold too hard. I'll explain later. Next, attach a piece of string or ribbon inside, it doesn't matter where as long as it comes out from one corner. I think between Merry Xmas and Father Christmas's head would be a good corner. When you hang it up those two sides will be the right way up.
There is a flap with slit written on it, that's where you have to make a little cut along the line. Try to make a nice and clean cut and not too big, just wide enough for the tab to slide through. Then you can start to glue all the sides together. Press from the inside to secure the cube and to get nice neat edges. Do the side with the slit and tab last. Make sure you put glue on the entire tab right to the edge and slide it all the way through the slit. You can't press on the cube anywhere now so you have to rely on the edges to stick to the closing side by themselves. Remember I said earlier not to fold the edges too hard? That gives the tab and edges a bit of bounce to get a nice close cube. Sounds complicated? It's not. Trust me 😉
And here's my Hive Christmas cube. It's so easy to make and looks great when you hang it up on your Christmas tree or anywhere at home.
I also made a Hive Cube and a decision dice called HBD (Hive Ballsy Dice) 🙂 The Hive Cube has a variation of Hive logos and links on each side, including a QR code that people can scan. It will take them to the Hive website. You can also write your Hive account name so people can find you when they're on Hive. Perhaps these might be nice to give out when onboarding people.
The HBD decision cube is a fun novelty for you to play. Keep it on your desk or by your computer, and when you can't decide what to do, roll the dice and see how you can add value to Hive.
This template has three cubes. One large and one small Hive Cube, and one small HBD Decision Dice
Now you have all the templates, you can make your own. If you do make them, I'd love to see them. Show me in the comment below, or if you make a post about it, feel free to tag me.
Some of the logos and messages on the cube are courtesy of @doze and @rubencress. Although they are free to use, I have set 5% beneficiary to each of them as a thank you
