Me encuentro nuevamente compartiendo con ustedes algunas de mis reparación. En esta ocasión se trata de un módem Adsl Cantv. De la marca ZTE, modelo ZXHN H831A.

I am once again sharing with you some of my repairs. This time it is a modem Adsl Cantv. ZTE brand, model ZXHN H831A.
¿Se imaginan dejar todo listo en la noche para montar una publicación a la mañana siguiente y encontrarse con que el módem solo tiene encendida una luz roja?. ¿Sería angustiante verdad?. Les cuento que ninguna persona está exento de esta falla. Por tal razón, les mostraré como pueden solucionarlo ustedes mismos.
Sí usted llega a ver esta luz roja en su dispositivo modem, no se alarme, solo indica que el voltaje que está recibiendo no es el adecuado y se encuentra en un estado de protección.
En este caso, lo que debemos revisar en primera instancia es el transformador o regulador de voltaje.
El regulador de voltaje es el encargado de suministrar un voltaje adecuado, así que será nuestro principal sospechoso.
Can you imagine leaving everything ready at night to set up a publication the next morning and finding that the modem only has a red light on, it would be distressing, wouldn't it? I will tell you that no one is exempt from this problem. For this reason, I will show you how you can fix it yourself.
If you see this red light on your modem device, do not be alarmed, it only indicates that the voltage it is receiving is not adequate and is in a state of protection.
In this case, what we must check in the first instance is the transformer or voltage regulator.
The voltage regulator is responsible for providing adequate voltage, so it will be our main suspect.
Este regulador transforma el voltaje residencial 110 VAC a 12 VDC. Conociendo estos parámetros podemos medir el voltaje con un multímetro y de esta forma corroborar el estado del regulador.
Ya estamos viendo un voltaje fuera del rango nominal, 15 VDC. Esto nos indica que el problema viene del regulador, ya que no está cumpliendo con su función. Es necesario destaparlo para revisar su circuito.
This regulator transforms the residential voltage 110 VAC to 12 VDC. Knowing these parameters we can measure the voltage with a multimeter and thus corroborate the status of the regulator.
We are already seeing a voltage outside the nominal range, 15 VDC. This indicates that the problem comes from the regulator, since it is not fulfilling its function. It is necessary to unplug the regulator to check its circuit.
Para destapar el regulador necesitaremos un destornillador, en algunos casos vienen pegados y se necesita navaja.
Al destapar el regulador podemos ver un capacitor inflado, se encuentra en el área de entrada de voltaje. ¿Lo pudiste ver?
To uncover the regulator we will need a screwdriver, in some cases they are glued and a knife is needed.
When we uncover the regulator we can see an inflated capacitor, it is located in the voltage input area. Could you see it?
Si lo viste rápidamente, quiere decir que tienen buen ojo para este tipo de trabajos.
De inmediato realizamos un reemplazo de componente. Ubicamos un capacitor de la misma capacitancia. 4.7 uf 400v.
If you saw it quickly, it means they have a good eye for this type of work.
We immediately performed a component replacement. We located a capacitor of the same capacitance. 4.7 uf 400v.
¿Dónde lo podemos encontrar? En cualquier cargador de celular o en placas de televisores viejos, radios etc. Son muy comunes.
Para extraerlo y soldar el reemplazo deberás contar con un cautín y estaño.
Dada mi experiencia, sé que en estos casos los capacitores de salida también sufren cuando un capacitor de entrada está deficiente.
En efecto, al revisar la capacitancia de los capacitores de salida, estaban deficientes, en vez de tener 1000 uf, tenían 500 uf.
Where can we find it? In any cell phone charger or in plates of old TV sets, radios, etc. They are very common.
To remove it and solder the replacement you will need a soldering iron and tin.
Given my experience, I know that in these cases the output capacitors also suffer when an input capacitor is deficient.
In fact, when checking the capacitance of the output capacitors, they were deficient, instead of having 1000 uf, they had

También los he reemplazado, de esta forma me aseguro que el regulador vuelva a durar unos 10 años más.
También hice la revisión del circuito del modem y para nuestro alivio se encontraba en perfecto estado.

Ahora solo faltaba realizar una prueba de encendido para ver si pasaba a la luz verde.
Aquí lo tenemos con su luz verde, no tengo como probarlo con línea Adsl porque en casa tengo ftth. Sin embargo se lo entregué a su dueño con total seguridad de que iba a funcionar correctamente.

Ese mismo día, el propietario del modem me envió una fotografía mostrando que el módem estaba funcionando con normalidad.
Además me agradeció por solventar la falla en forma rápida y eficiente.
That same day, the modem owner sent me a picture showing that the modem was working normally.
He also thanked me for solving the problem quickly and efficiently.
Para realizar reparaciones de este tipo es importante contar con herramientas básicas como:
- Destornillador
- Cautín
- Estaño
- Multímetro
Considero que son herramientas que todos debemos tener en casa, ya que en internet podemos buscar tutoriales como estos y solo bastaría con guiarnos, pero si no poseemos las herramientas, sería muy poco lo que pudiéramos hacer.
