Barnyardgrass

I took this picture while walking in the fields today, it is known as barnyard grass or cockspur grass. It looks a lot like rice, but its color and texture are slightly different. It is also sometimes called Japanese millet.

This grass usually grows well in moist soil, and although it is often identified as wild rice or a weed, some varieties are used as food and animal feed. It is a relief to see the presence of such grass amidst the diversity of nature.
