The bird's nest fern is a species of plant in the Aspleniaceae family. This species grows attached to other trees (epiphyte) or on rocks (lithophyte). This plant, known by the scientific name Asplenium nidus, originates from the humid tropical biome with a distribution ranging from Malesia to northern and northeastern Queensland. The bird's nest fern is also known as the Sundanese kadaka. The scientific name Asplenium nidus was introduced by a botanist named Carolus Linnaeus in 1753. source
