Finally, I've completed my #zingtober entry just in time, and it already feels like an accomplishment, lol. Most of my entries are usually a few minutes or hours late, which can be frustrating because I often feel like I don't have enough time to manage everything. While I've been getting faster at creating my work lately, I still think there’s room for improvement in both speed and technique.
In terms of technique, I've been learning about the different effects I can create using the ProCreate app. My goal is to master effects like light, fire, and blurring to add more #zing to my artwork. For this exercise, I created a piece featuring the Healer of Light character and added some lighting effects. Naturally, I focused on the "guidebook" as the main subject since it’s the prompt for today’s #zingtober!
The concept behind my piece is inspired by one of my favorite anime, Hunter x Hunter!
- Chrollo Lucilfer's book
- Gon & Kurapika's Greed Island book
You might notice some references to both, though they aren’t directly related. I simply blended what I remember from those references and came up with something like what I’m presenting tonight.
The creation process involves a bit of a trick, but it's actually quite easy to do in ProCreate. It simply requires separating the character and the book into different layers, with the lighting effect placed between them. The result appears to have a 3D effect on it.
Here's my creation process.

Finishing!
To wrap things up, I'm really proud of how this piece turned out, and it feels great to see my skills progressing. Each new project gives me a chance to experiment with new techniques and push my creative boundaries. I'm excited to keep improving and sharing more of my work with you all—thanks for following along!
