Intro
@surgentgaming hat versprochen ein Trading Card Game (TCG) zu entwickeln und sie halten Wort.
Das Spiel ist nicht nur für alle Chifibot Investoren, die auf diesen Scam leider reingefallen sind, sondern für uns alle, die wir nach einem neuen Spiel auf unserer Hive Blockchain lechzen.
Astral Wars heißt der Titel und kann seit Sonntag von ca. 40 Spielern getestet werden.
Ich bin einer dieser Tester und möchte Euch mit diesem Artikel einen ersten Eindruck vom Spiel geben.
Ohne zu viel vorwegnehmen zu wollen, macht das Spiel meiner Ansicht nach bereits jetzt riesigen Spaß und ist überraschend fehlerfrei.
Daher gehe ich auch davon aus, dass Astral Wars recht schnell in eine offenen Alpha Phase übergehen wird.

@surgentgaming promised a TCG for the Hive Blockchain and they are going to deliver.
The game is not only developed for the scammed Chifibots Investors but for all us game hungry hive enthusiasts.
Astral Wars is the name of the title and can be tested by about 40 players since Sunday.
I am one of these testers and would like to give you a first impression of the game with this article.
Without wanting to anticipate too much, I think the game is already a lot of fun and surprisingly bug-free.
Therefore, I expect Astral Wars to enter an open alpha phase quite soon.

Installation
Astral Wars ist ein mit Unity programmiertes Spiel.
Es läuft nicht im Browser sondern muss auf eurem PC installiert werden. Der Download hält sich mit ca. 90 MB in Grenzen.
Die MAC Version hat anfangs nicht funktioniert. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob dies in zwischen behoben ist.
Sowohl auf meinem PC zu Hause, als auch auf meinem Laptop ohne dedizierte Graphikkarte läuft es einwandfrei.
Installation
Astral Wars is a game programmed with Unity.
It does not run in the browser but has to be installed on your PC. The download is only about 90 MB.
The MAC version did not work at the beginning. I am not sure if this is fixed in the meantime.
Both on my PC at home and on my laptop without dedicated graphics card it runs fine.

Adventure Mode
Die Rolle eines Tutorials übernimmt der Adventure Modus. Dieser hält 5 Puzzle für Euch bereit, die den Einstieg ins Spiel erleichtern sollen.
Vom Startbildschirm könnt ihr auch auf die anderen Seiten abspringen. Eure Collection anschauen, Crates kaufen und das Leaderboard bestaunen.
Adventure Mode
The Adventure Mode takes on the role of a tutorial. This mode has 5 puzzles ready for you, which should make it easier to get started with the game.
From the start screen you can also jump to the other pages. View your collection, buy crates and admire the leaderboard.
Collection
In der Collection könnt ihr Euch die Karten anschauen, die in eurem Besitz sind.
Aus diesen könnt ihr auf der rechten Seite auch eure Decks bauen.
In der PreAlpha war es so, dass wir uns eine Fraktion aussuchen konnten, von der wir alle 20 Karten erhalten haben. Alle anderen Karten muss man sich kaufen.
Ob das später zum offiziellen Start auch so sein wird, weiß ich nicht.
So oder so habt ihr aber über die 3 Starterdecks der Fraktionen die Möglichkeit mit allen 60 Karten zu spielen, dann aber in vorgegebenen Decks.
Zusätzlich zur Aufteilung in die drei Fraktionen unterscheiden sich die Karten noch nach ihrem Typ.
Artefakte
Jede Fraktion hat ein Artefakt, welches 3 Batteries (Mana) kostet, und allen Karten der Fraktion einen Vorteil gewährt, wie z.B. Mehr Lebenspunkte, Mehr Schaden, oder geringere Batteriekosten.
Programme
Programme sind Karten, die einen bestimmten Effekt ausführen, z.B. zerstöre eine Karte, ziehe Karten, erhöhe den Angriff und die Energie aller Mechs um x.
Mechs
Mechs sind die Kreaturen bei Astral Wars. Genau wie alle anderen Karten haben Mechs Batteriekosten. Zusätzlich verfügt jeder Mech noch über Might (Schadenswert) und Energy (Lebenspunkte).
Schön finde ich auch, dass jeder Mech über eine Zusatzfähigkeit verfügt.
Gerade diese Kombination der Fähigkeiten unter den Mechs und Programmen, macht den Spaß beim Deckbuilding aus. Selbst mit nur 60 Karten, gibt es hier jede Menge spannende Synergien.
Ein Deck muss mindestens 20 Karten enthalten. Es dürfen aber auch beliebig viele sein.
Hat man genügend Coins, kann man sich die Karten, welche man noch nicht besitzt direkt über die Collection seite kaufen. Einfach auf die Karte klicken und den Kauf durchführen.
Auf die gleiche weise können doppelte Karten hier auch verkauft werden.
Eine zumindest derzeit günstigere Variante an Karten zu kommen sind jedoch die Crates, was uns zum nächsten Bereich führt.
Collection
In the Collection you can view the cards that are in your possession.
You can also build your decks from them on the right side.
In the PreAlpha we were able to choose a faction from which we received all 20 cards. All other cards have to be bought.
I don't know if that will be the case at the official launch.
Either way, the 3 faction starter decks give you the opportunity to play with all 60 cards, but in predefined decks.
In addition to being divided into the three factions, the cards are also differentiated by their type.
Artifacts
Each faction has an artifact that costs 3 batteries (mana) and gives all cards of the faction an advantage, such as more health, more damage, or lower battery costs.
Programs
Programs are cards that perform a specific effect, such as destroy a card, draw cards, increase the attack and energy of all Mechs by x.
Mechs
Mechs are the creatures in Astral Wars. Just like all other cards, Mechs have battery costs. In addition, each Mech also has Might (damage value) and Energy (life points).
I also like the fact that each mech has an additional ability.
It is this combination of abilities among the mechs and programs that makes deckbuilding fun. Even with only 60 cards, there are a lot of exciting synergies here.
A deck must contain at least 20 cards. But there can be as many as you want.
If you have enough coins, you can buy the cards you don't own directly from the collection page. Just click on the card and make the purchase.
In the same way duplicate cards can be sold here.
A cheaper way to get cards, at least at the moment, are the crates, which leads us to the next area.
Crates
Es gibt 5 verschiedene Arten von Crates.
Standard Crates kosten 5.000 Coins und enthalten 5 Karten in den Seltenheitsstufen common (80) / uncommon (15) und rare (5). 1% dieser Karten sind foil.
Elite Crates kosten 12.000 Coins und enthalten 5 Karten in den Seltenheitsstufen common (50) / uncommon (30) / rare (18) und mythic (2). 2 % dieser Karten sind foil.
Faction Crates kosten 15.000 Coins und enthalten 3 Karten der jeweiligen Fraktion in den Seltenheitsstufen common (40) / uncommon (30) / rare (25) und mythic (5). 4 % dieser Karten sind foil.
Wir Tester konnten mit 5.000 Coins starten, also eine Standard Crate kaufen. Pro Sieg erhält man 200 Coins. Niederlagen geben derzeit 100 Coins.
In der Testphase gibt es die Möglichkeit die Karten für 80 % des Eigenwerts zu verkaufen. Damit gibt es hier derzeit ein Perpetuum Mobile.
Ich kaufe mir z.B. ein Standard Crate für 5.000 Coins. Verkaufe die 5 Karten für jeweils 4.000 Coins, da eine common Karte 5.000 Coins kostet und habe danach 20.000 Coins.
Fürs Testen ist das super, da wir so das Kaufen und Öffnen von Crates, sowie diverse Deckzusammenstellungen testen können, für die wir sonst sehr lange grinden müssten.
Ich gehe aber davon aus, dass es erstens nach der PreAlpha einen Wipe gibt und diese Möglichkeit dann auch entfernt wird.
Crates
There are 5 different types of crates.
Standard Crates cost 5.000 Coins and contain 5 cards in the rarity levels common (80) / uncommon (15) and rare (5). 1% of these cards are foil.
Elite Crates cost 12,000 coins and contain 5 cards in the rarity levels common (50) / uncommon (30) / rare (18) and mythic (2). 2% of these cards are foil.

We testers could start with 5.000 Coins, so buy a standard Crate. Per victory you get 200 Coins. Defeats currently give 100 Coins.
In the test phase there is the possibility to sell the cards for 80% of the intrinsic value. So there is a perpetuum mobile here at the moment.
For example, I buy a Standard Crate for 5,000 Coins. Sell the 5 cards for 4,000 coins each, because a common card costs 5,000 coins and then I have 20,000 coins.
This is great for testing, as we can test buying and opening crates, as well as various deck compositions, for which we would otherwise have to grind for a very long time.
I assume, however, that there will be a wipe after the PreAlpha and that this option will be removed.
Öffnen der Crates
Auch das Öffnen der Crates sieht gut aus.
Man zieht die Crates auf die Schaltfläche und es gibt eine nette Animation. Nach Klick drehen sich die KArten um, wie man es auch von anderen Kartenspielen kennt.

Opening the crates also looks good.
You drag the crates onto the button and there is a nice animation. After click the crates turn around, like you know it from other card games.
Everything animated nicely and smoothly.
Leaderboard
Der letzte Bildschirm beinhaltet das Leaderboard - die Rangliste.
Astral Wars benutzt ein Elo System, um das Ranking zu ermitteln. Je stärker mein Gegner, wenn ich gegen ihn gewinne umso mehr Punkte erhalte ich. Umgekehrt genauso.
Neben dem Elo wird noch die Winrate herangezogen. Sie scheint der Tiebreaker bei gleicher ELO zu sein, wie man an Platz 2 und 3 erkennen kann.
Schön wäre es sicherlich noch eine Gesamtzahl an Spielen zu sehen, sowie später eine Saison und Ewige Tabelle zu haben. Für den Anfang reicht das aber mehr als aus.
Leaderboard
The last screen contains the leaderboard.
Astral Wars uses an Elo system to determine the ranking. The stronger my opponent, the more points I get when I win against him. The reverse is also true.
Besides the Elo, the winrate is also used. It seems to be the tiebreaker for the same ELO, as you can see on rank 2 and 3.
It would be nice to see a total number of games and later a season and perpetual table. But for the beginning this is more than enough.
Astral Wars Spielen
Kommen wir zum eigentlichen Spiel.
Deck Auswahl
Anders als in Splinterlands ist Astral Wars kein Autobattler, bei dem ihr direkt vor Spiel die Aufstellung macht und dann zuschaut, sondern ihr müsst selbst während und vor dem Spiel aktiv sein, wie bei "Heartstone" oder "Magic the Gathering".
Neben den spielerischen Kenntnissen kommt auch der Fähigkeit schlagkräftige Decks zu bauen viel Bedeutung zu.
Bevor ihr dann SOLO (gegen die KI) oder Multiplayer (gegen menschliche Spieler) losspielt, müsst ihr das Deck auswählen, welches ihr nutzen wollt.
Dabei stehen Euch neben den selbst kreierten auch drei Starterdecks der drei Fraktion zur Verfügung, die jede Fraktionskarte einmal enthalten.
Die Starterdecks sind gut abgestimmt, und für den Einstieg zu empfehlen.
Playing Astral Wars
Let's get to the actual game.
Deck Selection
Unlike Splinterlands, Astral Wars is not an autobattler where you set up your deck right before the game and then watch. Instead, you have to be active during and before the game, just like in Heartstone or Magic the Gathering.
In addition to playing skills, the ability to build powerful decks is also very important.
Before you start playing Solo (against the AI) or Multiplayer (against human players), you have to choose the deck you want to use.
In addition to the ones you create yourself, there are three starter decks of the three factions available to you,which contain each faction card once.
The starter decks are well-done, and recommended for getting started.
Spielaufbau
Bei Astral Wars hat jeder Spieler 20 Lebenspunkte. Eure seht ihr immer links unten. Die eures Gegners rechts oben.
Neben den Lebenspunkten sind kleine Kästchen. Das sind eure Batterien. In der Alpha fangen wir jedes Spiel mit 3 Batterien an. Jede Runde erhaltet ihr eine Batterie hinzu.
Wenn ihr Karten spielt, habe diese Batteriekosten. Zu Beginn eures Zugs werden eure Batterien wieder aufgefüllt.
Rechts könnt ihr Euch noch den Friedhof und die Restanzahl an Karten in eurem Deck anschauen. Sind eure Karten durch, können keine weiteren Karten gezogen werden.
Das Spiel endet, wenn die Lebenspunkte eines Spielers auf 0 sinken. Dieser hat dann verloren.
Game structure
In Astral Wars, each player has 20 life points. You can always see yours in the lower left corner. Your opponent's are in the upper right corner.
Next to the life points are small boxes. These are your batteries. In the Alpha, we start each game with 3 batteries. Each round you get one more battery.
When you play cards, they have a battery cost. At the beginning of your turn, your batteries are replenished.
On the right, you can still see the graveyard and the remaining number of cards in your deck. Once your cards are through, no more cards can be drawn.
The game ends when a player's life points drop to 0. That player has lost.
Spielablauf
Eine Runde folgt einer simplen aber festen Ordnung.
Zu Beginn werden eure Batterien wieder aufgeladen und ihr erhaltet eine neue hinzu.
Danach zieht ihr eine Karte.
Dann könnt ihr in beliebiger Reihenfolge Karten ausspielen, Fähigkeiten einsetzen, oder mit Mechs angreifen.
Angriffe
Mechs, die in dieser Runde beschworen wurden, können nicht angreifen, es sei denn sie haben die Fähigkeit "Haste".
Das Angriffsziel kann für jedes Monster separat ausgewählt werden. Die Angriffe erfolgen alle nacheinander.
Auch wenn der Gegner Mechs hat, kann man ihn dennoch direkt angreifen. Es sei denn eines der gegnerischen Mechs hat die Fähigkeit "Taunt".
Dann muss man zuerst diesen Mech erledigen, bevor man andere Mechs oder sogar den gegnerischen Spieler angreifen kann.
Fallen
Jede Fraktion hat auch eine Falle, die verdeckt gespielt und als ? auf dem Feld angezeigt wird.
Hier muss man gut aufpassen, da eine übersehene Falle, einem echt den Tag vermiesen kann.
Aktionlog
Oberhalb eurer und unterhalb der gegnerischen Lebenspunkte werden alle Aktionen angezeigt, die der Spieler durchgeführt hat.
Hier kann man nochmal nachschlagen, falls man etwas übersehen hat. Gerade bei Fallen ist das hilfreich, auch wenn nicht angezeigt wird, welche Falle gespielt wurde.
Zugende
Hat man alle möglichen Züge erledigt klickt man recht unten auf End Turn. andernfalls ist der Zug auch spätestens nach 60 Sekunden vorbei.
Darauf sollte man achten, wenn man im Multiplayer die Chat Funkion, welche über die Return Taste aktiviert wird, ausgiebig nutzt.
Spielende
Irgendwann hat ein Spieler den Gegner sämtlicher Lebenspunkt beraubt und ist der Sieger.
Ein Spiel dauert dabei selten länger als 5 Minuten.
Gameplay
A round follows a simple but firm order.
At the beginning, your batteries are recharged and you get a new one.
After that, you draw a card.
Then, in any order, you can play cards, use abilities, or attack with mechs.
Attacks
Mechs summoned this turn cannot attack unless they have the Haste ability.
The attack target can be selected separately for each monster. The attacks all occur in succession.
Even if the opponent has mechs, you can still attack the player directly, unless one of the opponent's mechs has the "Taunt" ability.
Then you have to kill that mech first before you can attack other mechs or even the opposing player.
Traps
Each faction also has a trap, which is played face down and displayed as ? on the field.
You have to be careful here, because an overlooked trap can really ruin your day.
Action log
Above your and below your opponent's life points, all actions that the player has performed are displayed.
You can look them up again here if you've overlooked something. This is especially helpful with traps, even if you don't see which trap was played.
End of turn
Once you have completed all possible moves, click on End Turn at the bottom right. Otherwise, the move is over after 60 seconds at the latest.
You should pay attention to this if you make extensive use of the chat function in multiplayer, which is activated via the return key.
End of game
At some point, a player has robbed the opponent of all life points and is the winner.
A game rarely lasts longer than 5 minutes.
Erste Eindrücke
Ich habe leider beide AMAs zu Astral Wars verpasst und nur ein paar Screenshots vorab gesehen. Daher war ich gespannt, was mich erwartet.
Ich muss sagen ich bin begeistert. Das Spiel geht flüssig von der Hand. Selbst auf meinem alten Laptop ohne Graphikkarte.
Ich konnte bisher keine Bugs finden. Auch die anderen Tester finden höchstens kleinere Graphikfehler.
Das Kaufen und Öffnen der Crates macht süchtig. Genauso wie das tüfteln an immer neuen Decks und das ausprobieren derselbigen.
@spiritsurge hat im Vorfeld gesagt, er hat die KI etwas einfacher gestaltet, um uns Tester nicht so stark zu fordern, wie bei Astral Revelations. Ich finde diese aber auch sehe gelungen.
Mit einem guten Deck gewinnt, man zwar viele Spiele. Aber die KI nutzt ihre Chancen und ist gerade am Anfang ein guter Sparringspartner. Das Herzstück ist aber natürlich der Multiplayer.
Es würde mich sehr wundern, wenn Astral Wars keine große Fangemeinde auf der Hive Blockchain gewinnt. Es könnte sogar ein Spiel werden, welches viele Spieler aus dem klassischen Gamingbereich anspricht.
Hier steht nicht der Pay2Earn Ansatz im Vordergrund, sondern ein gutes Spiel zu programmieren. Das ist @surgentgaming wirklich gelungen und ich bin froh Alpha Tester sein zu dürfen.
Ich hoffe, dieser Artikel gibt Euch einen guten Überblick über das, was Euch mit Astral Wars erwartet und schürt ein wenig Eure Vorfreude auf das Game.
Spielstrategien kamen hier jetzt etwas zu kurz. Dazu mache ich hoffentlich bald ein Video, sobald ich die Zeit finde.

First impressions
I unfortunately missed both AMAs for Astral Wars and only saw a few screenshots in advance. Therefore I was curious what to expect.
I have to say I am thrilled. The game runs smoothly. Even on my old laptop without a graphics card.
I couldn't find any bugs so far. The other testers also found at most minor graphics errors.
Buying and opening crates is addictive. Just like tinkering with new decks and trying them out.
@spiritsurge has said in advance that he has made the AI a bit easier to not challenge us testers as much as in Astral Revelations. But I also think that it is successful.
With a good deck, you win many games. But the AI takes its chances and is a good sparring partner, especially in the beginning. The heart of the game is of course the multiplayer.
I would be very surprised if Astral Wars doesn't gain a large following on the Hive Blockchain. It could even become a game that appeals to many players from the classic gaming sector.
The focus here is not on the Pay2Earn approach, but on programming a good game. @surgentgaming really succeeded in this and I am happy to be an alpha tester.
I hope this article gives you a good overview of what to expect with Astral Wars and stirs up your anticipation for the game.
