Reading the columnists in this community is always an opportunity for growth, it's true, but also a pleasure.
There comes a time when we develop a certain empathy for one or more of them, whether for the subject matter, the writing style, or a multitude of other possibilities.
In my case, one of my favorite authors is Dr. @emiliorios, who, after each of his posts, inspires me to write about the topic.
On several occasions, I've been unable to contain myself, and I've done so, as in the case today, where I'm going to sit down and write to you about your article: The Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism in Action
The first point Emilio talks about is understanding human nature.
For me, understanding human beings is the most difficult thing to achieve. Even understanding those close to us can be complicated at times. Or at least, fully understanding their nature and the human condition always surprises us in positive ways. But also in negative ways.
I recently went through this last experience, where a woman, a mother with the opportunity to help another mother, simply decided not to, and harm her. Deciding not to care that the mother had to leave her son alone in a terminal, in another province.
These are things that we, as human beings, will never fully understand how bad we can be with ourselves.
Continuing with other topics Emilio talks about regarding the human condition, here we touch on something very interesting: that of suffering.
Suffering, in Buddhism, is not necessarily something related to physical pain, but to other types of pain or suffering; such as, for example, the frustration of not being able to achieve something, wanting something we don't have or can't have, and so on. These are concepts inherent to Buddhism, which someone who is far removed from it might take literally and think that when Emilio speaks of suffering, he's speaking of pain that is too intense.
And yes, Emilio, everything in life is temporary. Everything is ephemeral; nothing lasts forever, or rather, nothing material is eternal. That's something we must be fully aware of.
Everything immaterial has a useful life marked by something or someone. And here, at most, we'll be here for a little over 100 years, and then we'll leave with the same thing we came into the world with.
Once we understand this, we will begin to value other things.
Right thought, word, and action are three other points of this article.
Thought, word, and action are generally well interrelated.
If we don't have positive thoughts—those of love, understanding, and tolerance—I don't think we can have positive words, much less positive actions. That's the third part of this vital triad, which can be both constructive and destructive.
There are several things that, once they happen, we can't take back, and one of them is the word. Once we say it, there's no going back. It doesn't matter if we retract it, it's already been said.
And if it's already been said, it was already thought. Perhaps not analyzed, perhaps it wasn't said with the intention of causing harm, or at least without the intention of causing the harm it did.
That's why we must be more aware of what we think, how we think, and what we can say if we can take two seconds before responding.
If we can avoid responding when we're angry and decide to maintain a prudent silence, we can analyze things; we can say or do something we won't regret later. I believe that on that day we will have gained much more wisdom.
Emilio touches on a very necessary point in this fifth section, and that is to do something with the benefit of others in mind.
It is this true and natural vocation of service that human beings so desperately need.
If that woman at the bus station had read Emilio's work, perhaps, just perhaps, she would have done a better job that day.
The sixth and seventh sections are also closely related, as they deal with effort and proper attention.
Our work and our actions must be focused on our personal benefits, both spiritually and professionally.
Although Emilio's work focuses on the spiritual benefit of others, I believe he does so from a Buddhist perspective and according to this life practice, which is dedicated to serving us.
However, I believe, from my humble opinion and experience, that if we neglect ourselves, we will not be able to help others.
And this community is an example of that. Here we all seek that self-improvement, that spiritual and personal growth that will directly or indirectly help us help others.
I also believe that among the negative qualities Emilio mentions that we must combat, procrastination is one of the most dangerous.
It's seemingly one of the noblest forms of bad behavior, but for that very reason, it's the one that can do us the most harm.
Because we are our own enemies.
And finally, Emilio proposes proper concentration.
I was casually talking with my stepson the other day about the need to set priorities in life and focus on one or two goals at a time.
I also told him about the danger of information overload.
I remember we were sitting at the table and I asked my two stepsons, which was better: minimal information or too much information?
I found it interesting that each one had a different answer.
I told him that it all came down to balance: it's not good to have too little information, nor is it good to have too much information.
In this information-saturated world, we need to corroborate every piece of information we find on the internet to understand and verify its veracity and authenticity.
This, of course, will take time. So we go back to the beginning, which is to focus on a few things at a time, establish priorities, and thus achieve greater and better optimization of our time.
Therefore, I think it's a good idea to recommend that you prioritize reading Emilio's article if you're going to continue writing for this community. Which, in turn, is the same as helping other people.
If we're going to do it, we should do it in the best way possible.

Leer a los columnistas de esta comunidad siempre es una ocasión de crecimiento, es cierto, pero también de placer.
Llega el momento en que realizamos cierta empatía hacia uno o varios de ellos, ya sea por la temática, la forma de escribir y otras múltiples posibilidades.
En mi caso, uno de mis autores preferidos es el doctor @emiliorios, quien tras cada post suyo, me genera un deseo de escribir sobre el tema.
En varias ocasiones no he podido contenerme y lo he hecho, como es en el caso de hoy, donde me sentaré a escribirle/s sobre su artículo de: El noble octuple Sendero del budismo en acción
El primer punto del que habla Emilio, es la comprensión a la naturaleza humana.
Para mí, entender al ser humano es lo más complicado de conseguir.
Incluso entender a aquellas personas cercanas a nosotros, llega a ser complicado en ocasiones. O por lo menos, comprender a cabalidad su naturaleza y la condición del humano siempre nos sorprende de forma positiva. Pero también de forma negativa.
Recientemente pasé por esta última experiencia, donde una mujer, una madre con la posibilidad de ayudar a otra madre, sencillamente decidió no hacerlo y perjudicarla. Decidir no importarle que la madre tuviera que dejar a su hijo solo en una terminal, en otra provincia.
Estas son cosas que nosotros, como seres humanos, nunca vamos a llegar a comprender hasta dónde podremos ser malos con nosotros mismos.
Siguiendo con otros de los temas del que habla Emilio sobre la condición humana, aquí toca algo muy interesante: el del sufrimiento.
El sufrimiento, en el budismo, no es necesariamente algo referido al dolor físico, sino a otro tipo de dolor o sufrimiento; como por ejemplo, la frustración al no poder conseguir algo, el desear algo que no tenemos o no podemos tener, y así. Esos son conceptos propios del budismo que aquel que está alejado de él, lo puede tomar de forma literal y pensar que cuando Emilio habla de sufrimiento, habla de un dolor demasiado intenso.
Y sí, Emilio, en la vida todo es pasajero. Todo es efímero, nada dura para siempre o mejor dicho, nada material es eterno. Eso es algo que tenemos que tener bien consciente.
Todos inmaterial tiene una vida útil marcada por algo o por alguien. Y aquí, cuando más, estaremos un poco más de 100 años, y luego nos vamos con lo mismo que venimos al mundo.
Una vez que entendamos esto, comenzaremos a valorar otras cosas.
El pensamiento, la palabra y la acción correcta son otros tres puntos de este artículo.
Pensamiento, palabra y acción, por lo general están bien relacionados entre sí.
Si no tenemos pensamientos positivos, de amor, de comprensión, de tolerancia, no creo que podamos tener palabras positivas; y mucho menos, acciones positivas. Ya que esa es la tercera parte de esta triada tan vital, que puede ser tanto constructiva, como destructiva.
Hay varias cosas que cuando se dan, no podemos echarla para atrás y una de ellas es la palabra. Una vez que la decimos, no hay marcha atrás. No importa que nos retractemos, ya está dicha.
Y si ya está dicha, ya fue pensada. Quizás no analizada, quizás no fue dicha con la intención de hacer daño o, al menos sin la intención de lograr el daño que consiguió.
Por eso debemos estar más conscientes de lo que pensamos, de cómo lo pensamos y lo que podremos decir si logramos tomarnos dos segundos antes de responder.
Si logramos evitar responder cuando estamos enojados y decidimos hacer un silencio prudente, para poder analizar las cosas; para poder decir o hacer algo de lo que después no vayamos a arrepentirnos. Creo que ese día habremos ganado mucho más en sabiduría.
Emilio toca un punto muy necesario en esta quinto acápite y ese es el de hacer algo pensando en el beneficio del otro.
Es esta vocación de servicio real y natural que tanto necesita el ser humano.
Si aquella mujer de la terminal de ómnibus hubiera leído el trabajo de Emilio, quizás, solo quizás, hubiera realizado una mejor obra aquel día.
El sexto y séptimo acápite también están muy relacionados, ya que tratan el esfuerzo y la atención correcta.
Nuestro trabajo y nuestras acciones deben estar enfocados en nuestros beneficios personales, tanto espiritual como profesionalmente.
Aunque en el trabajo de Emilio trate del beneficio espiritual de los demás, yo creo que este enfoque lo lo realiza desde un punto de vista budista y según esta práctica de vida, que es dedicada al servicio de nosotros.
Sin embargo, yo pienso desde mi humilde opinión y experiencia, que si nos descuidamos a nosotros, no podemos ayudar a los demás.
Y esta comunidad es un ejemplo de ello. Aquí todos buscamos esa superación, ese crecimiento espiritual y personal que directa o indirectamente nos servirá para ayudar a terceras personas.
También creo que entre las cualidades negativas que menciona Emilio y que debemos combatir, la procrastinación es una de las más peligrosas.
Es de los más nobles malos comportamientos, en apariencia, pero por eso mismo, es la que puede hacernos más daño.
Ya que somos nosotros nuestros propios enemigos.
Y por último, Emilio nos propone la concentración correcta.
Casualmente hablaba el otro día con mi hijastro sobre la necesidad de establecer prioridades en la vida y de concentrarnos en uno o dos objetivos cuando más, a la vez.
También le hablé del peligro que constituye la sobreinformación.
Recuerdo que estábamos sentados a la mesa y les pregunté a mis dos hijastros ¿qué era mejor: la información mínima o la sobreinformación?
Me pareció interesante el hecho de que cada uno tomara una respuesta diferente.
Yo le dije que todo se encontraba en el balance: ni es bueno tener poca información, como tampoco es bueno tener demasiada información.
En este mundo sobresaturado de información, necesitamos corroborar cada dato que encontremos en internet para conocer y verificar su veracidad y autenticidad.
Esto, por supuesto, nos tomará tiempo. Por lo que volvemos al inicio, que es concentrarnos en pocas cosas a la vez, establecer prioridades y así lograr una mayor y mejor optimización de nuestro tiempo.
Por tanto creo muy conveniente recomendarles que entre sus prioridades se den un salto por el artículo de Emilio si van a continuar escribiendo para esta comunidad. Que a su vez, es lo mismo que ayudar a otras personas.
Si vamos a hacerlo, debemos hacerlo de la mejor manera posible.
