Saludos, mis queridos amigos de esta hermosa comunidad. Mi deseo más profundo para todos es que que abunde la salud, el amor, la armonía y el bienestar en sus vidas y que pasen un fin de año en familia, aprovechando cada instante con sus seres queridos.

There are many traditions that come to the fore just at the time of saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new one. In my family, for many years, we have had some customs that are well rooted and that I will gladly share with you.
From very early in the morning, I dedicate myself to cleaning all the spaces in my house, I put the laundry in the wash and try not to leave anything dirty. Also, on this day I change the bedding for new ones. I have been doing this habit since I was newly married, I like to put on new sheets and new pajamas as well.
At noon, we start preparing everything we need for Christmas dinner. The first thing is the chicken salad. It is our custom to boil the chicken breast with onion, celery and other vegetables to make a broth to replenish our energy and continue with all the preparations.
Another thing that has become a custom in my nuclear family on the last day of the year is to take a family picture when we are already in our new outfits next to our Christmas tree. Going through my photo archives to share with you, I saw many pictures that brought back beautiful memories, and among them our family photos featuring my little daughter. I was glad I took those pictures because they are the captures of unforgettable years.
Son muchas las tradiciones que se ponen de manifiesto justo a la hora de despedir el año viejo y dar la bienvenida al nuevo año. En mi familia, desde hace muchos años, tenemos algunas costumbres que están bien arraigadas y que les compartiré con mucho gusto.
Desde muy temprano, me dedicó a hacer la limpieza de todos los espacios de mi casa, pongo a lavar la ropa e intento no dejar nada sucio. También, este día cambio los juegos de cama por unos nuevos. Esta costumbre la práctico desde que estaba recién casada, me gusta poner sábanas nuevas y ponerme una pijama nueva también.
A mediodía, comenzamos a preparar todo lo necesario para la cena de Navidad. Lo primero es la ensalada de pollo. Tenemos como costumbre poner a sancochar la pechuga con cebolla, célery y otras ramitas para que nos quede como un caldito que nos hace reponer las energías y continuar con todos los preparativos.
Otra cosa que se ha hecho una costumbre en mi familia nuclear el último día del año es tomarnos una foto familiar cuando ya estamos con nuestros outfits de estreno junto a nuestro árbol de Navidad. Revisando mis archivos de fotos para compartir con ustedes, vi muchas fotografías que me trajeron hermosos recuerdos, y entre ellas nuestras fotos familiares en las que aparece mi hija pequeñita. Me alegró haber tomado esas fotos porque son las capturas de años inolvidables.
We have always tried to share our dinner as a family, and since I have been making hallacas, more than thirty years ago, everyone gets a few to have in their homes. These last two Christmases it has not been possible because I emigrated, and everyone tells me that they miss them very much.
A custom my husband and I had in Venezuela was that each of us received the year with his mother. We would go to my mother's house at 10 o'clock at night, have dinner with her and when the New Year was about to begin, he would leave to welcome the year with my mother-in-law. This was an agreement that we happily fulfilled for 29 years of marriage, because last year was the first year that we received the New Year together because we emigrated.
To welcome the New Year, we have the custom of counting down, eating the 12 grapes and hugging each other tightly, expressing our best wishes.
After the New Year, in Venezuela, we had the custom of playing a family bingo, a single round and with a jackpot because we played more than thirty people. It was a time of laughter, suspense and nail-biting. It was the expected game. This year we want to do it here in our new home and enjoy it as we did there.

Siempre hemos procurado compartir nuestra cena en familia, y desde que estoy haciendo hallacas, hace más de treinta años, todos reciben unas cuantas para tener en sus hogares. Estas dos últimas navidades no ha sido posible porque emigré, y todos me dicen que las extrañan mucho.
Una costumbre que teníamos mi esposo y yo en Venezuela era que cada uno de nosotros recibiera el año con su madre. Íbamos a casa de mi mamá a las 10 de la noche, cenábamos con ella y cuando faltaba poco para la entrada del Año Nuevo, él se iba para recibir el año con mi suegra. Este fue un acuerdo que cumplimos felizmente por 29 años de casados, pues el año pasado fue el primer año que lo recibimos nosotros juntos porque emigramos.
Para recibir el año nuevo, tenemos por costumbre hacer el conteo regresivo, comernos las 12 uvas y abrazarnos fuertes, manifestando nuestros mejores deseos.
Luego de entrado el año, en Venezuela, teníamos las costumbre de jugar un bingo familiar, una sola ronda y con un premio gordo porque jugábamos más de treinta personas. Eran momentos de risas, de suspenso y de comerse las uñas. Era el juego esperado. Este año queremos hacerlo aquí en nuestro nuevo hogar y gozar como lo hacíamos allá.
