Among the ancient pagans, it was believed that if a human being was born of the love relationship between a god or goddess with a mortal being (human person), the fruit of supernatural love was considered a Hero.

Entre los antiguos paganos, se creía que si un ser humano nacía de la relación amorosa entre un dios o diosa con un ser mortal (persona humana), a éste fruto del amor sobrenatural lo reputaban como un Héroe.

He was considered more than a man and less than a God. Dentro de la mitología, el nacimiento del héroe es un acontecimiento extraordinario, mantiene una existencia enfrentando diversos conflictos, los cuales se resuelven siempre con su intervención; para el final de sus días ocurre un evento que lo magnifica de forma gloriosa, el enfrentamiento con sus contrarios, en donde puede fallecer, ganando o perdiendo la batalla. Dejando para la humanidad una reflexión, un aprendizaje positivo.

Lo demuestran antiguos escritos que relatan grandes epopeyas, de los cuales se han hecho famosos como el magnífico Hércules con sus grandes hazañas que han llenado muchos sectores de la historia mitológica, el indómito Aquiles que luchando por sus ideales murió debido a una flecha clavada en su talón, el Rey Eneas valeroso caudillo troyano hijo de la diosa Afrodita.

El héroe era el antecesor de una raza de hombres victoriosos como Hércules; también era el fundador de un pueblo como el Rey Eneas (progenitor del pueblo romano); además se considera el libertador de un vasto grupo humano como lo fue Simón Bolívar. En la concepción griega del mundo aparece, regularmente, como poseedor de un carácter semidivino, súper poderoso, merecedor de un culto especial.

Ya a mediados de la Edad Media, el origen real de un héroe es fácilmente encontrable en la literatura de la época: así como el “Mío Cid” o el ingenioso hidalgo “Don Quijote de la Mancha”, historias novelescas de caballería y cantares de gesta aventurera que alcanzaron dimensiones legendarias, heroicas, casi en vida del protagonista, o inmediatamente después de su muerte.

En el siglo XIX, Carlyle definió al héroe como una especie de superhombre y recomendó su culto o misión, bien sea político o religioso. Entonces, un héroe puede ser Napoleón Bonaparte conductor de un vasto ejército o San Pedro Apóstol, quién fue líder religioso de varios pueblos. A estos héroes, se le debe un natural acatamiento a sus órdenes, no temeroso, sino enamorado de su labor empática a realizar; esta concepción del escritor inglés degeneró, en parte a través del superhombre nietzscheano, en doctrinas raciales y totalitarias durante el siglo XX.

Modernly, the hero continues to have in the popular imagination characteristics that raise him from the common people who assign him superiority and legendary events. Modernamente, el héroe sigue teniendo en la imaginación popular características que lo levantan del común de las gentes que le asignan superioridad y sucedidos legendarios. Muchas de estas características de héroes son asumidas por los jefes de guerras de independencia o de conquista, así como afortunados guerreros de luchas civiles o revolucionarias, como Pancho Villa y Emiliano Zapata en México.

In this advanced society, which already speaks of a "new social order", leaving behind the classification of the contemporary period; heroes become more real, not immortal or divine, they are: humans par excellence! They do not have super powers to execute their mission in the search of human welfare; they only count on their qualities that are essential to live according to the human values they know and handle. They are always willing to sacrifice their peace of mind every time they face a personal risk for the care and protection of their fellow man.

En esta sociedad tan avanzada, que ya se habla de un “nuevo orden social”, dejando atrás la clasificación del período contemporáneo; los héroes pasan a ser más reales, por nada inmortales ni divinos, son: ¡humanos por excelencia! No cuentan con súper poderes para ejecutar su misión en la búsqueda del bienestar humano; tan sólo cuentan con sus cualidades que son esenciales para vivir de acuerdo a los valores humanos que conocen y manejan. Siempre dispuestos a soportar el sacrificio de su tranquilidad por cada vez que enfrentan un riesgo personal en pro del cuidado y protección de su prójimo.

La empatía se involucra en el heroísmo. Ése afecto crea la necesidad de existir según el “código moral” que práctica cada quién: ¡el afecto por los demás!

Possessing a pleasant and poised personality, with which you exhibit courage and self-confidence, showing a trait of exemplary behavior, does not in itself mean that you are considered a hero. The concept goes beyond contemporary reasoning, where: "we are all potential heroes waiting for a situation to prove it"; without "knowing" that we have options to decide whether or not to support the needy, because not always, within their competencies and physical aptitudes, an individual possesses sufficient faculties or abilities to develop or "do what needs to be done".

Poseer una personalidad agradable y aplomada, con la cual expone su valentía y seguridad en sí mismo, que muestra un rasgo de conducta ejemplar, no significa por sí sola que sea considerado un héroe. El concepto va más allá del razonamiento contemporáneo, en donde: “todos somos héroes potenciales en espera de una situación para demostrarlo”; sin “saber” que tenemos opciones para decidir apoyar o no al necesitado, debido a que no siempre, dentro de sus competencias y aptitudes físicas, un individuo posea las suficientes facultades o habilidades para desarrollar o “hacer lo que tenga que hacer”.

Solidarity, attached to his compassion, goes hand in hand with his confidence to neither see nor analyze unexpected danger, overcoming fear and reason. He goes straight to his goal, overcoming obstacles. Even when he has suffered a setback, he remains persistent until he reaches his goal.

La solidaridad, apegada a su compasión, va de la mano con su confianza para no ver ni analizar el peligro inesperado, superando el miedo y la razón. Va directo a su objetivo venciendo los obstáculos. Inclusive, cuando ha padecido algún revés, sigue siendo persistente hasta alcanzar su propósito.

The experiences of past eras have generated in today's society the continuity in declaring contemporary heroes who leave their history and life's work as an example for harmonious, prosperous development; who leave a legacy to their successors, of promising tools for the welfare of humanity in general.

Las experiencias de épocas pasadas han generado en la sociedad actual la continuidad en declarar héroes contemporáneos a quienes dejan su historia y trabajos de vida como ejemplo para el desarrollo armónico, próspero; que dejan una herencia a sus sucesores, de herramientas prometedoras para el bienestar de la humanidad en general.

These great pioneers, whose legacy is still valid, endure and renew themselves, advancing with the current ideas that build the path towards human development and community happiness. They are present in most of the countries of the world, where some of them are recognized in the media, such as politicians, religious, intellectuals; while others remain anonymous because they are part of the common people, who went through extraordinary situations, in which they intervened in a timely manner, achieving, with their inspiring ideas and self-sacrifice, to move forward leaving firm footprints for freedom and peace. It is a long list of heroes and heroines, whom I will not name in order to respect their integrity. But who stand out with their heroic deeds for humanity.

Estos grandes pioneros, cuyo legado aun siguen teniendo vigencia, perduran y se renuevan, avanzando con las actuales ideas que construyen el camino hacia el desarrollo humano de la felicidad comunitaria. Se presentan en la mayoría de los países del mundo, en donde algunos de ellos son mediáticamente reconocidos, como: políticos, religiosos, intelectuales; mientras que otros permanecen en el anonimato debido a que forman parte de la gente común, quienes pasaron por situaciones extraordinarias, en las que intervinieron oportunamente logrando, con sus ideas inspiradoras y autosacrificio, avanzar dejando huellas firmes para la libertad y la paz. Es una larga lista de héroes y heroínas, a quienes no he de nombrar para respetar su integridad. Pero que se destacan con sus actos heroicos por la humanidad.

No one in need of a heroic act waits for a "Chapulín Colorado" to appear. Intervention is almost always unexpected and timely. It becomes just when such a hero recognizes the dignity of a being's life... His collaboration is necessary to safeguard that existence, whether rational or irrational, the important thing is that it is within living nature.

Ninguna persona necesitada de un acto heroico espera que se aparezca un “Chapulín Colorado”. La intervención casi siempre es inesperada y oportuna. Se hace justa cuando dicho héroe reconoce la dignidad de la vida de un ser… Su colaboración es necesaria para salvaguardar esa existencia, bien sea racional o irracional, lo importante es que está dentro de la naturaleza viva.

He is an ordinary human being, with no supernatural powers that incite him to fly or shoot laser beams out of his eyes, which would make a difference between the human imagination and the personal heroic ideal. Imagination fosters the idea of not being guided by established rules.

Es un ser humano corriente, sin poderes sobrenaturales que lo inciten a volar o a lanzar rayos laser por los ojos, lo cual haría una diferencia entre la imaginación humana y el ideal heroico personal. La imaginación fomenta la idea de no guiarse por las reglas establecidas.

When a person has a great willingness to offer timely help or to defend another living being with the transcendental purpose of maintaining the dignity of the needy, he manages to involve himself in a solidary cause, which surpasses the personal integrity of his own being, without expecting praise or congratulations; such an individual, places himself at a higher level than the rest of the people. His positive nature and the impetus of his own being creates the natural admiration that, at certain times, we would like to be like him.

Cuando una persona tiene gran voluntad para ofrecer su ayuda oportuna o defender a otro ser vivo con el fin trascendental de mantener la dignidad del necesitado, logra involucrarse en una causa solidaria, la cual sobrepasa la integridad personal de su propio ser, sin esperar elogios ni felicitaciones; dicho individuo, se coloca a un nivel más alto que el resto de las demás personas. Su naturaleza positiva y el ímpetu de su propio ser crea la admiración natural que, en ciertos momentos nos agradaría ser como él.

We commonly observe him, and in an imaginary way: we see him put on the "super suit of courage with his protective identity mask" when he goes in search of that act of heroism to save a person and fight evil or injustice for the care or welfare of others and nature.

Comúnmente le observamos, y de manera imaginaria: lo vemos ponerse el “súper traje de coraje con su antifaz protector de identidad” cuando va en busca de ese acto de heroísmo para salvar a una persona y combatir la maldad o la injusticia por el cuidado o el bienestar de los demás y de la naturaleza.
