Iniciative: What to do about what people will say [Esp-Eng]

Saludos querida comunidad, hoy deseo compartirles mi participación en la iniciativa de @Iriswrite, que me llamó mucho la atención al leerla, porque nos lleva a reflexionar sobre un tema que la verdad nos acompaña a lo largo de nuestra vida, las opiniones de otros y como estas afectan nuestra vida y la forma en la que la vivimos.

Tengo recuerdos de mí siendo una niña libre, jugaba con quien fuera y donde fuera, si se me ocurría una idea la compartía sin pensar que sería juzgada por ello, y corría y hacia bromas en cualquier lugar, sin permitir que la mirada de otros me afectara en absoluto para hacerlo, lo que importaba en ese momento era que me sentía bien, me divertía. Lamentablemente acabó la niñez y llegó una edad un poco más complicada.

Conocí muy temprano en la vida esa incómoda sensación de preocuparme por lo que los demás pensaban de mi, así que dejé de hacer muchas cosas para que los demás no pensaran que era "rara" o simplemente no quisieran ser mis amigos. Llegó la edad adulta y a veces nos engañamos creyendo que ya no nos dejamos llevar por los comentarios de otros, o que no permitimos que lo que alguien nos diga nos haga cohibirnos de ser nosotros mismos.

Greetings dear community, today I want to share with you my participation in @Iriswrite's initiative, which caught my attention when I read it, because it leads us to reflect on a topic that really accompanies us throughout our lives, the opinions of others and how they affect our life and the way we live it.

I have memories of me being a free child, I played with whoever and wherever I went, if I came up with an idea I would share it without thinking that I would be judged for it, and I would run and make jokes anywhere, without allowing the gaze of others to affect me at all to do so, what mattered at that time was that I felt good, I had fun. Unfortunately, childhood ended and a more complicated age arrived.

I knew very early in life that uncomfortable feeling of worrying about what others thought of me, so I stopped doing a lot of things so that others wouldn't think I was "weird" or just didn't want to be my friend. Adulthood came and sometimes we fool ourselves into believing that we are no longer swayed by the comments of others, or that we don't allow what someone says to make us shy away from being ourselves.

La realidad es otra tengamos la edad que tengamos podemos experimentar eso de dejar de hacer o de ser por lo que el otro pueda pensar o por lo que el otro pueda decir. De hecho, como nuestra naturaleza, parte de nuestras necesidades incluyen el poder sentirnos queridos y aceptados, así que es sumamente fácil dejarnos llevar por esta necesidad y fijarnos más en lo que otros pueden decir que en lo que somos o queremos ser.

Y aunque es parte de una necesidad sentirnos querido y aceptados, cuan bonito y satisfactorio es poder ser aceptados y amados tal y como somos, con nuestras rarezas y nuestras pasiones. Así que desde mi punto de vista, siempre es mucho mejor ser nosotros mismos, sin centrarnos en el que dirán y tener a nuestro lado a esas personas que nos quieren de esa manera, porque la verdad siempre habrá quien nos quiera tal cual somos.

Por supuesto que sjempre hay un equilibrio, porque no significa que seremos poco empaticos o hasta malas personas y nos escudaremos con el típico "así soy yo y no voy a cambiar", no, parte de ser seres pensantes y razonables es darnos cuenta de que obvio tenemos puntos en los que trabajar y no se trata de dejar de ser nosotros mismos sino de mejorar, y no para encajar, sino para ser mejores personas y por supuesto una vida mas sana en todo aspecto.

The reality is that no matter what age we are, we can experience the feeling of not doing or being because of what others may think or what others may say. In fact, as our nature, part of our needs include feeling loved and accepted, so it is very easy to get carried away by this need and focus more on what others may say than on what we are or want to be.

And although it is part of a need to feel wanted and accepted, how nice and fulfilling it is to be accepted and loved just as we are, with our quirks and our passions. So from my point of view, it is always much better to be ourselves, without focusing on what people will say and have by our side those people who love us that way, because the truth is that there will always be those who love us as we are.

Of course there is always a balance, because it does not mean that we will be little empathetic or even bad people and we will shield ourselves with the typical "this is me and I will not change", no, part of being thinking and reasonable beings is to realize that we obviously have points to work on and it is not about stopping being ourselves but to improve, and not to fit in, but to be better people and of course a healthier life in every aspect.

Lo que puedo decir es que desde mi punto de vista, el que dirán no debe importar pero a la vez sí, cuando el que dirán puede arrebatarnos partes de nosotros que son nuestra esencia, nuestros gustos especiales o esas cosas que amamos y creemos profundamente, no, no debemos permitir que el que dirán importe, debemos sostebernos a nosotros mismos y dejar ir aquello sin que nos desestabilice. Pero cuando el que duran, se trata de críticas constructivas, amor y consejos que siempre van dirigidos a nuestro bienestar y crecimiento, eso sí debe importar.

Asi qué lo que hay que aprender es a diferenciar una cosa de otra, quedarnos con el que diran cuando es positivo puede volverse una forma de crecimiento, autoconocimiento y reflexión que nos invita inevitablemente a ser mejores, a madurar y por supuesto estar más cerca de la versión de nosotros que queremos llegar a alcanzar. Deseo invitar a participar en esta iniciativa a @mafalda2018, que de seguro tiene mucho que decir sobre el tema.

What I can say is that from my point of view, what they will say should not matter but at the same time, when what they will say can take away parts of us that are our essence, our special tastes or those things that we love and believe deeply, no, we should not let what they will say matter, we must support ourselves and let go of that without destabilizing us. But when it is constructive criticism, love and advice that is always directed to our well being and growth, it should matter.

So what we have to learn is to differentiate one thing from another, to stay with what they say when it is positive can become a form of growth, self-knowledge and reflection that inevitably invites us to be better, to mature and of course to be closer to the version of us that we want to reach.
