Pain is such a good teacher - Reflection [Esp-Eng]

Hace un tiempo en casa nos estaba costando demasiado sembrar cualquier planta, incluso las que ya estaban, comenzaron a debilitar se y marchitarse. Mi esposo y yo creíamos que era por nuestra "mala mano" para las plantas, pero en una conversación con una vecina que es una mujer mayor que tiene toda su casa llena de plantas súper cuidadas y bonitas, ella nos hizo varias recomendaciones recomendación que podrían ayudarnos.

Una de ellas fue que una buena manera de dar vida a la tierra que ya teníamos en casa, era ablandarla, moverla y revolverla, un trabajo súper agotador y algo fastidioso, pero que decidimos hacer solo para probar. A while ago, we were having a hard time growing any plants at home. Even the ones we already had started to weaken and wilt. My husband and I thought it was because we had a "black thumb," but in a conversation with a neighbor, an elderly woman who has a house full of beautiful, well-cared-for plants, she gave us several recommendations that could help us.

One of them was that a good way to revitalize the soil we already had at home was to soften it, move it around, and stir it up, a very tiring and somewhat tedious job, but we decided to do it just to try. So there we were, probably for less time than it felt, with a rake poking at the soil, digging holes to bring the bottom soil up to the top and then mixing it. After doing this, we moistened the soil and left it like that.

Fue muy loco ver como los pocos días las plantas que todavía quedaban en el patio se veían más bonitas, más nutridas gracias a ese trabajo que habíamos hecho, el resultado fue que plantas que no habían podido crecer en un montón de tiempo comenzaron a hacerlo rápidamente, súper bien. Obviamente le contamos a la vecina que su consejo nos había funcionado bien y ella dijo algo que me quedó "es mejor trabajar duro para remover la tierra que perder la mata".

Parece solo una frase de gente que trata con plantas, pero me pareció que tiene más profundidad que eso, me hizo pensar en mi misma y en esas heridas que de alguna manera fue inevitable que hicieran hoyos en mi, que me revolvieran por dentro. Heridas que me hicieron sentir tan mal, que la verdad no pude ver que estaban de alguna manera enseñándome, ayudándome a que pudiera florecer, y también dar fruto.

It was crazy to see how, in just a few days, the plants that were still in the yard looked prettier and healthier thanks to the work we had done. The result was that plants that hadn't been able to grow for a long time began to grow quickly and very well. Obviously, we told our neighbor that her advice had worked well for us, and she said something that stuck with me: "It's better to work hard to remove the soil than to lose the plant."

It seems like just a phrase from people who deal with plants, but I thought it had more depth than that. It made me think about myself and those wounds that somehow inevitably left holes in me, that stirred me up inside. Wounds that made me feel so bad that I couldn't see that they were somehow teaching me, helping me to flourish and also bear fruit.

La verdad es que suelo pensar mucho en lo que me pasa, y a veces puedo dejar que el dolor y la ansiedad no dejen que vea que esa herida, es como esa recomendación de la vecina. Algo que aunque es incómodo, fastidioso y requiere esfuerzo, tiene buenos resultados. Y no, no pienso que ajuro se deba sufrir para aprender o para mejorar, lo que digo es que esas heridas, siempre nos enseñan algo y que es mejor centrarse en eso que en el dolor en sí.

Actualmente en casa tenemos un gran arbusto de granada, un árbol de guayaba que está altísimo y una planta de sábila que se ve hermosa. Todas ellas, crecieron gracias a que movimos la tierra y todo lo demás. Y en un sentido más mental, actualmente, yo me esfuerzo por ver más allá del agujero que dejó una herida, más allá del dolor de una situación que no pude controlar y me revolvió todo dentro, ahora trato en lo posible de aore ser de ello.

The truth is that I tend to think a lot about what happens to me, and sometimes I let the pain and anxiety prevent me from seeing that wound, like my neighbor's recommendation. Something that, although uncomfortable, annoying, and requiring effort, has good results. And no, I don't think you have to suffer to learn or improve, what I'm saying is that those wounds always teach us something and that it's better to focus on that than on the pain itself.

Currently at home we have a large pomegranate bush, a guava tree that is very tall, and an aloe vera plant that looks beautiful. All of them grew thanks to us moving the soil and everything else. And in a more mental sense, I am currently trying to see beyond the hole left by a wound, beyond the pain of a situation that I couldn't control and that turned everything inside me upside down. Now I try as much as possible to move on from it.

A veces, solo las heridas nos ayudan a ser más empaticos, sentir dolor nos permite entender cuando al otro también le está doliendo y también, lidiar con situaciones difíciles, nos permite conseguir maneras para dar consejos a otros para sobrellevar una situación igual o parecida. Sometimes, only wounds help us to be more empathetic. Feeling pain allows us to understand when others are also hurting and to deal with difficult situations. It allows us to find ways to give advice to others on how to cope with the same or similar situations. As the movie Inside Out taught us, sadness is also necessary for growth, to appreciate happy moments more, but above all to learn from them. It is up to us to see it that way, or simply to dwell on the pain.
