Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una etapa muy especial de mi camino en la masoterapia holística. Como muchos ya saben, estoy en la fase final de mis estudios y me encuentro trabajando en mi tesina. Este trayecto ha sido una travesía maravillosa de aprendizaje y descubrimiento, en el que he tenido la oportunidad de profundizar en técnicas y conocimientos que transforman la práctica terapéutica. Una de las enseñanzas más fascinantes ha sido la moxibustión. 💜 💨 La moxibustión es una técnica tradicional que utiliza el calor para estimular puntos específicos del cuerpo, conocidos como meridianos, que son también los puntos utilizados en la acupuntura. La idea es usar el calor para promover la circulación de energía y sangre, lo cual puede ayudar en la prevención y tratamiento de diversas enfermedades. El material principal utilizado en esta técnica es la moxa, una hierba conocida como artemisia vulgaris.
Desde que me introdujeron a esta técnica, me sentí muy conectada con ella. Gracias a mi base en el conocimiento de la naturaleza y las plantas medicinales, que ya había cultivado en mi hogar, me aventuré a crear mis propias moxas. Esta fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora y creativa, ya que no solo involucró la práctica terapéutica, sino también la elaboración artesanal de los materiales necesarios. 🌿 El proceso de elaboración de las moxas es algo que quiero destacar. Utilicé artemisia vulgaris y manzanilla, dos plantas con propiedades medicinales muy beneficiosas. La artemisia, además de sus propiedades curativas, es excelente para conducir el calor, lo que la hace ideal para la moxibustión. Comencé el proceso creando conos de moxa, los cuales se ven un poco negros porque les añadí carbón para que fuesen carbonatados, reduciendo así la cantidad de humo húmedo que producen.
También hice tabacos de moxa, utilizando un papel artesanal blanco de artemisia y manzanilla. Estos tabacos tienen una textura muy interesante y son visualmente hermosos. El proceso de enrollado y armado de los conos de moxa fue meticuloso y detallado, pero al final resultó en unos productos personalizados para un paciente específico.
Las moxas y los tabacos que hice se aplican en diferentes partes del cuerpo, tanto de forma directa como indirecta. El objetivo es trabajar los ductos de temperatura a través del sistema del cuerpo, alineados con los meridianos. Esta técnica se utiliza no solo para tratar afecciones existentes, sino también como una medida preventiva para mantener la salud integral del cuerpo.
En un día de trabajo intenso, logré hacer aproximadamente 64 conos de moxibustión y 25 tabacos, lo que me permite tener suficiente material para varias sesiones con distintos pacientes a lo largo de un mes, dependiendo del número de sesiones que realice.
Este camino en la masoterapia holística me ha permitido no solo aprender técnicas ancestrales, sino también conectar profundamente con la naturaleza y sus poderes curativos. La moxibustión, con sus raíces en la medicina tradicional China, se ha convertido en una herramienta invaluable en mi práctica. Today I want to share with you a very special stage of my path in holistic massage therapy. As many already know, I am in the final phase of my studies and I am working on my thesis. This journey has been a wonderful journey of learning and discovery, in which I have had the opportunity to delve deeper into techniques and knowledge that transform therapeutic practice. One of the most fascinating teachings has been moxibustion. 💜 💨 Moxibustion is a traditional technique that uses heat to stimulate specific points on the body, known as meridians, which are also the points used in acupuncture. The idea is to use heat to promote the circulation of energy and blood, which can help in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. The main material used in this technique is moxa, an herb known as artemisia vulgaris.
Since I was introduced to this technique, I felt very connected to it. Thanks to my knowledge of nature and medicinal plants, which I had already grown at home, I ventured to create my own moxas. This was a very enriching and creative experience, since it not only involved therapeutic practice, but also the artisanal production of the necessary materials. 🌿 The process of making moxas is something I want to highlight. I used artemisia vulgaris and chamomile, two plants with very beneficial medicinal properties. Artemisia, in addition to its healing properties, is excellent at conducting heat, making it ideal for moxibustion. I started the process by creating moxa cones, which look a little black because I added charcoal to make them carbonated, thus reducing the amount of moist smoke they produce.
I also made moxa tobaccos, using white artemisia and chamomile craft paper. These tobaccos have a very interesting texture and are visually beautiful. The process of rolling and assembling the moxa cones was meticulous and detailed, but ultimately resulted in products customized for a specific patient.
The moxas and tobaccos I made are applied to different parts of the body, both directly and indirectly. The goal is to work the temperature pathways through the body system, aligned with the meridians. This technique is used not only to treat existing conditions, but also as a preventive measure to maintain the overall health of the body.
In one day of intense work, I managed to make approximately 64 moxibustion cones and 25 tobaccos, which allows me to have enough material for several sessions with different patients over a month, depending on the number of sessions I perform.
This path in holistic massage therapy has allowed me not only to learn ancestral techniques, but also to connect deeply with nature and its healing powers. Moxibustion, with its roots in traditional Chinese medicine, has become an invaluable tool in my practice.
