I've been trying to be active for some days now, but my physical health is not at its best, and as we all know, our physical health is deeply connected to the mental and emotional.
I've been going through severe stomach discomfort for some days. I can't eat or sleep well at night. I went to the clinic last week and met a doctor; she told me I would be fine and prescribed some drugs, which I got from the pharmacy. I remember explaining how I felt to the pharmacist since he asked, and he added one more medicine for me, saying it would help with the pain.
I remember asking him if this sickness had a name. I was supposed to ask the doctor, but I forgot, I was in too much pain. The pharmacist told me two scientific terms, which I forgot immediately after leaving the building. All I could remember was his last word: “worms.”
I've been having "sickness behaviours": an inability to focus on tasks, irritation, and restlessness. I also don’t feel like talking to people, so I’ve been indoors and off-screen.
I feel like crying, and I’ve felt the strong need to be with my family. But I’m a student, a grown-up, and I can’t run home every time I feel sick. Thinking about travelling that distance is already making me nauseous. So I’m stuck in my room, restless, overthinking, and groaning whenever the pain comes.
I’ve been wondering why I can’t publish anything even when I really want to. I have some half-written drafts that I can’t finish no matter how hard I try. Writing is supposed to get my mind off the pain, so I’m a bit disappointed here. But like I mentioned earlier, I’m fully aware of how we operate as humans; when the nose suffers, it affects the eyes and every other organ in the body.
The condition I’m in now reminds me of how little control we truly have over our well-being. I never thought I could get this sick. Since I’m genotype AA, I know I’m more prone to malaria and some infections, so I’ve always been on the lookout, getting tests done whenever necessary.
But we’re humans, we barely know what’s going on within our system. This was totally out of my control. I didn’t eat bad food, nor do I have habits that could affect my health. I’m a very careful person.
This, however, has reminded me to slow down, in the way I eat, think, act, and relate with people. It reminds me that I’m just human, and I should depend on God for His care, love, and mercy. And for that, I’m grateful.
So far, there’s been very little improvement. I have an appointment with a scientist tomorrow; hopefully, she’ll be able to tell what’s wrong after running some tests, and I’ll finally know what to treat. For now, I’ll keep listening to my body, holding on to faith, and allowing myself to heal, one quiet day at a time
I’m not scared. I have a strong feeling that I will be fine in a few days. .
This isn’t a rant. It's simply me reflecting through the fog of feeling unwell. Writing helps.

No esperaba escribir sobre el dolor, pero últimamente es la parte más ruidosa de mi vida.
Cada vez que cojo mi teléfono para escribir, las palabras adecuadas desaparecen, y mi mente se siente demasiado nublada para convertir los pensamientos en frases comprensibles.
Llevo unos días intentando escribir, pero mi salud física no pasa por su mejor momento, y como todos sabemos, nuestra salud física está profundamente relacionada con la mental y la emocional.
Llevo unos días con fuertes molestias estomacales. No puedo comer ni dormir bien por la noche. La semana pasada fui a la clínica y conocí a una doctora; me dijo que me pondría bien y me recetó algunos medicamentos, que conseguí en la farmacia. Recuerdo que le expliqué al farmacéutico cómo me sentía, ya que me lo pidió, y me añadió un medicamento más, diciendo que me ayudaría con el dolor.
Recuerdo que le pregunté si mi enfermedad tenía nombre. Tenía que preguntárselo al médico, pero se me olvidó, me dolía demasiado. El farmacéutico me dijo dos términos científicos, que olvidé inmediatamente después de salir del edificio. Lo único que recordaba era su última palabra: "gusanos".
He estado teniendo "comportamientos de enfermedad": incapacidad para concentrarme en las tareas, irritación e inquietud. Tampoco me apetece hablar con la gente, así que he estado en interiores y fuera de la pantalla.
Tengo ganas de llorar y he sentido una fuerte necesidad de estar con mi familia. Pero soy un estudiante, un adulto, y no puedo correr a casa cada vez que me encuentro mal. Pensar en recorrer esa distancia ya me produce náuseas. Así que estoy encerrada en mi habitación, inquieta, pensando demasiado y gimiendo cada vez que aparece el dolor.
Me he estado preguntando por qué no puedo publicar nada incluso cuando realmente quiero hacerlo. Tengo algunos borradores a medio escribir que no puedo terminar por más que lo intento. Se supone que escribir me hace olvidar el dolor, así que estoy un poco decepcionado. Pero, como he dicho antes, soy plenamente consciente de cómo funcionamos los seres humanos: cuando la nariz sufre, afecta a los ojos y a todos los demás órganos del cuerpo.
El estado en que me encuentro ahora me recuerda lo poco que controlamos nuestro bienestar. Nunca pensé que pudiera enfermar tanto. Como soy de genotipo AA, sé que soy más propensa a la malaria y a algunas infecciones, así que siempre he estado alerta, haciéndome pruebas siempre que era necesario.
Pero somos humanos, apenas sabemos lo que pasa dentro de nuestro sistema. Esto estaba totalmente fuera de mi control. No comí alimentos en mal estado, ni tengo hábitos que pudieran afectar a mi salud. Soy una persona muy cuidadosa.
Sin embargo, esto me ha recordado que debo ir más despacio en mi forma de comer, pensar, actuar y relacionarme con la gente. Me recuerda que sólo soy humano, y que debo depender de Dios para Su cuidado, amor y misericordia. Y por eso, estoy agradecido.
Hasta ahora, ha habido muy poca mejoría. Mañana tengo cita con una científica; espero que me diga qué me pasa después de hacerme algunas pruebas y saber por fin qué tratar. Por ahora, seguiré escuchando a mi cuerpo, aferrándome a la fe y permitiéndome sanar, un día tranquilo a la vez.
No tengo miedo. Tengo la fuerte sensación de que estaré bien en unos días. .
Esto no es un despotrique. Simplemente soy yo reflexionando a través de la niebla de sentirme mal. Escribir ayuda.
