3 toneladas de vidrio reciclado por una pequeña acción
Para hacer que pasen las cosas hay que moverse, tomar acción y saber que eso tendrá un impacto positivo o negativo a tu alrededor que puede beneficiar o perjudicar a los demás. Hace años tomé la iniciativa de unirme a un programa que tenía una empresa productora de vidrios en mi localidad (Produvisa) que consistía en el reciclaje de botellas transparentes con el propósito de crear consciencia conservacionista y educar a la población, por supuesto esto estaba dirigido a los seres más pequeños de la sociedad, los niños y son los maestros quienes tienes en sus manos la posibilidad de sembrar estas semillas. De todas las acciones que he tenido en mi vida, la que mayor impacto tuvo a nivel comunitario, social y ambiental fue esta, y sobre todo impacto en mi ser, que me dejo una bella experiencia que hoy puedo compartir.
Durante un año fui la encargada de conectar esta iniciativa con diversas comunidades, logrando sacar literalmente del bote 3 toneladas de vidrio con una simple acción, motivar a los niños y generar consciencia del beneficio que nos traía esta acción, el proceso era el siguiente, cada niño, maestro y representante en su casa guardaba en sacos botellas de vidrio transparente para luego llevarlo a la escuela, un día a la semana nos dedicamos a quitar la etiqueta de las botellas con navajas y limpiarlas de cualquier sucio, luego las guardamos en un depósito. Todas las semanas mis nervios estaban de punta por el uso de navajas y vidrio, siempre tenía miedo de algún accidente, teniendo en cuenta que realizaba este proceso con niños de edades entre 9 y 12 años y con grupos de 30 alumnos, pero estaba preparada en caso de una emergencia con un botiquín gracias a Dios nunca pasó nada malo.
Los niños al principio les daba flojera hacer esta actividad, no le encontraban sentido por lo que tuve que ser ingeniosa e ir educándolos poco a poco de los beneficios y los padres se fueron involucrando viendo que sus hijos se volvían responsables. Después de varios meses cuando el depósito estaba lleno me ponía en contacto con la empresa de vidrio y ellos enviaban un camión para la recolección, ese día el trabajo era arduo y a la vez satisfactorio al ver que el depósito quedaba vacío, padres, alumnos y algunos compañeros de trabajo se sumaban a traslado de las botellas y después yo me iba con el transporte para verificar la cantidad reciclada, allí la procesaban metiendo las botellas en grandes máquinas para ser trituradas estar allí fue doloroso un trabajo bien difícil para las personas que lo hacen todos los días.
Después me decían la cantidad que había logrado recolectar, fueron 3 veces en un año y en cada viaje se lograba mil kilos de vidrio que no fueron a parar a vertedero de basura, como incentivo la empresa donaba una pequeña cantidad de dinero que nos sirvió para acondicionar la biblioteca, lamentablemente este proyecto duro solo un año y lo suspendieron sin darme una justificación válida, pero me dejo mucha alegría y sentido de comunidad, aprendí la importancia del reciclaje sembré una semilla en los niños que tenía a mi alcance unos 600, tomar esa acción me hizo sentir que ayudaba al planeta con un granito de arena, me sentí útil y ejemplo a seguir para otros me dio una satisfacción que no he vuelto a experimentar.
Es bonito tomar acción y hacer que las cosas buenas pasen, el universo se encargara de multiplicarlo y expandirlo.

For a year I was in charge of connecting this initiative with various communities, literally getting 3 tons of glass out of the can with a simple action, motivating children and raising awareness of the benefit that this action brought us, the process was as follows, each child, teacher and representative at home kept transparent glass bottles in sacks to then take them to school, one day a week we dedicated ourselves to remove the label from the bottles with knives and clean them of any dirt, then we kept them in a warehouse. Every week my nerves were on edge because of the use of knives and glass, I was always afraid of an accident, considering that I was doing this process with children between 9 and 12 years old and with groups of 30 students, but I was prepared in case of an emergency with a first aid kit, thank God nothing bad ever happened.
At the beginning the children were reluctant to do this activity, they did not see the sense in it, so I had to be ingenious and educate them little by little about the benefits and the parents got involved seeing that their children became responsible. After several months when the deposit was full I contacted the glass company and they sent a truck for collection, that day the work was hard and yet satisfying to see that the deposit was empty, parents, students and some co-workers joined the transfer of the bottles and then I went with the transport to verify the amount recycled, there they processed it by putting the bottles in large machines to be crushed to be there was painful a very difficult job for people who do it every day.
Then they told me the amount that I had managed to collect, they were 3 times in a year and each trip was achieved a thousand kilos of glass that did not go to landfill, as an incentive the company donated a small amount of money that helped us to condition the library, unfortunately this project lasted only a year and was suspended without giving me a valid justification, But it left me with a lot of joy and a sense of community, I learned the importance of recycling, I planted a seed in the children that I had within my reach, about 600, taking that action made me feel that I was helping the planet with a grain of sand, I felt useful and an example for others to follow, it gave me a satisfaction that I have not experienced again.
It is nice to take action and make good things happen, the universe will take care of multiplying and expanding it.
