Yes, this is a sofa and a padded chair being thrown out. Hopefully, somebody picked it up before trash collection service got it and dumped it in a landfill. Because, in my humble opinion, the less trash we introduce into the environment, the better.
This is in such contrast to the environment I grew up in that it never ceases to amaze me how much the world has changed and how much more affluent we are, at least in the developed world. Furniture like this would have never been thrown out in the old country, in the old days. It would simply have been far too valuable.
I guess things are changing all the time, and the world never stays the same, not even for a second.
