Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to change things up a bit for my black and white photos!

Blueberry Monochrome Monday
Switching things up this week! :D
I like to take some periods of time to switch things up in my life. I like routine, but at the same time, I like to keep things fresh. I've got a bunch more beach photos to post.. but at the same time I've also got lots of black and white farm photos! :D Summertime is a crazy time of year for photos that's for sure!
Blueberry picking was one of the first farm experiences that we brought my son to many years ago. The first one was strawberry picking, but he doesn't like strawberries as much as he LOVES blueberries. It's really funny and cool to see how much the kid loves blueberries.. but they have been his favorite snack for years! It's great because it's one of the best fruits you can get.. so we indulge him in this as much as we can!
Blueberry picking is a wonderful time of year for us. It means that we are in the middle of the summer and we can pick a bunch of deliciously fresh blueberries, and specifically the variety that I highly prefer.
Really sweet fruits turn me off. I dislike the ultra sweet apples, blueberries and others. For me, fruit needs to have a little bit of tartness. In some ways, I feel like having that tartness makes it feel much more like the original fruit instead of some bastardized version that we've manipulated. I don't think there is some wild conspiracy behind it, but simply business people understand that folks like sweet things, so might as well get them the sweetness as often as they can.
The early season blueberries are the best because they are tart! I love the tart ones. They have a wonderful flavor to them, with a nice bite at the end. It makes for a really great handful of the things when you are in the field picking them! My son easily ate about 2 or 3 pounds of blueberries himself right off the bush hahaha. It's good that blueberries are CRAZY abundant at these farms. They've got hundreds of trees, and each tree can hold probably 2 or 3 thousand blueberries. You can do the math, but that's a LOT Of fruit! They thankfully don't mind if you snack on some while you're in the field..
With the blueberry picking, it's a little bit of a bittersweet time. It means that the summer is about halfway over at that point, but we enjoy every sweet moment of it. There are lots of great things about the time rolling on by in the summer. Lots of great memories and times are had every day, so it's impossible to say that it needs to be forever, in my opinion. Things are good when they are rare and enjoyed!
As always though, I do love to flip some of the photos into black and white! Not all of them make it.. but the fruit ones are interesting. With blueberries it's a little bit easier to see which ones are the ripe ones, but not always! I love taking the photos and getting them down to just the black, white and grayscale. You can see a lot about the photos, I think, that you otherwise wouldn't!
