Here in Montalbán (Venezuela) continues to rain almost daily. Therefore, as soon as I saw that the weather forecast for yesterday Monday morning said that we would have cloudy skies but no precipitation, I decided to take my camera and ride my old bicycle to take advantage of the hours without rain and make a long tour to the rural areas south of town, specifically to the valley of “Agua de Obispo” and the always interesting places to visit there... In fact, the main road was quite lonely at 6:45 AM. I know the people of my town very well and I know that Monday mornings are usually lonely in the countryside, as most of the ranch workers and even many of the owners, are used to get drunk on Sundays and wake up later than usual the next day 😂.... This is how, surrounded by pastures with only cows (📷 01), I ended up pedaling and pedaling until I reached the gates of the old road of “Las cañadas” (📷 02)...

Aquí en Montalbán (Venezuela) continúa lloviendo prácticamente a diario. Por lo tanto, apenas vi que la predicción climática para la mañana de ayer Lunes decía que tendríamos cielos nublados pero sin precipitaciones, decidí tomar mi cámara y montar en mi vieja bicicleta para aprovechar las horas sin lluvias y hacer un largo recorrido hacia los espacios rurales al Sur del pueblo, específicamente hacia el valle de "Agua de Obispo" y los siempre interesantes rincones que se pueden visitar en ese lugar... De hecho, la carretera principal estaba bastante sola a las 6:45 AM. Conozco muy bien a la gente de mi pueblo y sé que las mañanas de los días lunes suelen ser solitarias en el campo, pues la mayoría de los trabajadores de las haciendas e incluso muchos de los propietarios, acostumbran emborracharse los Domingos y despiertan más tarde delo acostumbrado al día siguiente 😂... Así fue como, rodeado de pastizales en donde solo había vacas (📷 01), terminé pedaleando y pedaleando hasta llegara las puertas del antiguo camino de "Las cañadas" (📷 02)...

The old “Las cañadas” road (📷 03) was restored after the pandemic, I think in 2022 if I'm not mistaken, when many of the owners of the properties it crosses (📷 04), decided to resume the agricultural and livestock activities they had abandoned. In fact, this is not a public road, but (as always happens in these places like my town) the owners of the haciendas simply prefer to keep the gates open and allow the passage of people and vehicles, thus avoiding problems with settlers who have been used to transit freely here for generations... It is even common to see some pieces of agricultural machinery (📷 05, 06) left on the land without any precautions...

El viejo camino de "Las cañadas" (📷 03) fue restaurado después de la pandemia, creo que en 2022 si no me equivoco, cuando mucho de los dueños de las propiedades las cuales atraviesa (📷 04), decidieron retomar las actividades agrícolas y pecuarias que habían abandonado. De hecho, este no es un camino público, pero (como siempre sucede en estos lugares como mi pueblo) los dueños de las haciendas simplemente prefieren mantener abiertos los portales y permitir el paso de personas y vehículos, evitando así problemas con pobladores los cuales han estado acostumbrados a transitar libremente aquí desde hace generaciones... Incluso es frecuente ver algunas piezas de maquinaria agrícola (📷 05, 06) dejados en los terrenos sin mayores precauciones...

Coming here on a cloudy morning like this one and just at a time when isolation is almost absolute, allows me to enjoy deliciously bucolic landscapes (📷 07)... The road is a long straight road of more than one kilometer (📷 08) surrounded by pastures, wire fences, gates and grazing cows... The silence is barely interrupted from time to time by the bustle of flocks of birds in nesting season (📷 09, 10)...

Venir aquí en una mañana nublada como esta y justo en un momento en el cual la soledad es prácticamente absoluta, me permite disfrutar de paisajes deliciosamente bucólicos (📷 07)... El camino es una larga recta de más de un kilómetro (📷 08) rodeada de pastizales, alambradas, portales y vacas pastando... El silencio es apenas interrumpido de vez en cuando por el bullicio de bandadas de aves en temporada de nidación (📷 09, 10)...

As you approach the end of the road you can see some hills emerging in the west of the valley (📷 11), this is the so called “Las Cañadas mountain range”, but this day the fog was too low to allow a clear view of those small mountains. So I continued dedicated to photographing the cows (📷 12) 😀 and the beautiful views of the road dipping into the cloudy horizon (📷 13)...

Al acercarse al final del camino se pueden apreciar algunas colinas emergiendo en el Oeste del valle (📷 11), se trata de la llamada "sierra de Las Cañadas", pero este día la niebla estaba demasiado baja como para permitir una vista clara de esas pequeñas montañas. Así que continué dedicado a fotografiar las vacas (📷 12) 😀 y las hermosas vistas del camino sumergiéndose en el horizonte nublado (📷 13)...

There was a moment in which I began to feel uncomfortable due to the fact of crossing so many gates of private properties (📷 14, 15) in such a carefree manner 😐... So I set out to return to the main road hoping that still the crews of hacienda workers were absent and without having started to move the herds of cattle across this road. Because that is something to keep in mind: One of the objectives of keeping this road 100% trafficable, is the movement of animals between paddocks and also the movement of agricultural machinery to work the land.... And riding a bike in the middle of a herd of cows on a narrow road is not a nice thing to do, you can believe me! 😂...

Hubo un momento en el cual comencé a sentir incomodidad debido al hecho de atravesar tantos portales de propiedades privadas (📷 14, 15) de manera tan despreocupada 😐... Así que me dispuse a regresar a loa carretera principal esperando que aún las cuadrillas de trabajadores de las haciendas estuviesen ausentes y sin haber comenzado a mover las manadas de ganado a través de este camino. Porque eso es algo que hay que tener en cuenta: Una de los objetivos de mantener este camino 100% transitable, es el movimiento de animales entre potreros y también el desplazamiento de maquinaria agrícola para el trabajo de las tierras... ¡Y andar en una bicicleta en medio de una manada de vacas en un camino angosto no es algo lindo, pueden creerme! 😂...

I wanted to take a picture of my bike on the road (📷 17) and while doing this I noticed the strange presence of a pair of old shoes tied by the laces and hanging high up on the bare branch of a tree (📷 16) 😂... I thought it's only in the streets of the village that kids do such things, but no, here too! 🤷‍♂👟...

Quise hacer una foto de mi bicicleta en el camino (📷 17) y mientras hacía esto me percate de la extraña presencia de un par de zapatos viejos atados por los cordones y colgando en lo alto de la rama desnuda de un árbol (📷 16) 😂... ¡Pensé que solo en las calles del pueblo los chicos hacen esas cosas, pero no, aquí también! 🤷‍♂👟...
