I live in Havana, the capital of Cuba, but not in the center of the city, but on the outskirts, in a somewhat rural neighborhood that is far from the center of the capital. For this reason, my neighborhood is characterized by being a quiet place, with few main avenues and little traffic, where almost all the inhabitants know each other in some way, either because they grew up and went to school together or because they always coincide in the lines at the supermarket or the bakery. Something that also characterizes most of the inhabitants of my town is that almost everyone has a pet. At the moment, I don't have any, but when I was a child and teenager I had pets of all breeds jeje, dogs, cats, chicks, fishes, hamsters...

Vivo en La Habana, la capital de Cuba, pero no en el centro de la ciudad, sino en las afueras, en un barrio un tanto rural que está alejado del centro de la capital. Por esta razón, mi barrio se caracteriza por ser un lugar tranquilo, con pocas avenidas principales y poco tráfico, donde casi todos los habitantes se conocen de alguna manera, ya sea porque crecieron y asistieron juntos a la escuela o porque siempre coinciden en la cola del supermercado o la panadería. Algo que también caracteriza a la mayoría de los habitantes de mi pueblo es que casi todos tienen alguna mascota. En estos momentos, yo no tengo ninguna, pero cuando era niña y adolescente tuve mascotas de todas las razas jeje, perros, gatos, pollitos, peces, curieles…
On the streets of my town it is common to see animals everywhere, some of them are pets with their owners, almost always dogs or cats, but many others wander the streets without a home. Lately I have noticed that there are more and more animals on the streets that don't belong to anyone 😟. Besides cats and dogs we can also find hens and roosters, carts pulled by horses, rams 🐈🐕🐓🐄🐎.... And not to mention insects, there are quite a few of those (mosquitoes and ants 🤦) but those ones are better to leave out of this publication.
These images I'm showing you are from a small tour I took around the area around the building where I live. I didn't have to go far to photograph all these animals. On this excursion, I had the company of my five year old daughter. She is a little afraid of dogs, but none of them barked at us when we approached to take pictures of them, as they are used to interacting with people. Only the cats got scared and ran away.
Por las calles de mi pueblo lo común es ver animalitos en cualquier lugar, algunos de ellos son mascotas con sus dueños, casi siempre perros o gatos, pero muchos otros deambulan por las calles sin un hogar. Últimamente he notado que cada vez hay más animales en las calles que no pertenecen a nadie 😟. Además de los gatos y los perros también podemos encontrar gallinas y gallos, carretones tirados por caballos, carneros 🐈🐕🐓🐄🐎... Y ni hablar de los insectos, de esos hay bastantes (mosquitos y hormigas 🤦) pero a esos es mejor dejarlos fuera de esta publicación.
Estas imágenes que les muestro son de un pequeño recorrido que realicé por los alrededores del edificio donde vivo. No tuve que alejarme mucho para fotografiar a todos estos animales. En esta excursión, tuve la compañía de mi niña de cinco años. Ella le tiene un poco de temor a los perros, pero ninguno nos ladró cuando nos acercamos a tomarles fotos, ya que están acostumbrados a interactuar con las personas. Solo los gatos se asustaban y salían corriendo.
I think I managed to photograph almost all the animals we came across. I missed the pigeons, of which there are also many, people breed them, but with my mobile phone it is very difficult to take a picture of a pigeon in flight 🕊.
Creo que logré fotografiar a casi todos los animales con los que nos encontramos. Me faltaron las palomas, de estas también hay muchas, las personas las crían, pero con mi teléfono celular es muy difícil fotografiar a una paloma en vuelo 🕊.
