The birth of St. John the Baptist is one of the most popular celebrations in Venezuela, every June 24 in any part of the country, you can find parties in his honor in squares, streets or the beach.
The sanjuaneros, groups of people devoted to the Baptist, put on their colorful costumes and gather to sing and dance to the rhythm of the drum, an African heritage that has been maintained over the years especially in the coasts of the central region of the country: Aragua, Carabobo, Miranda, and La Guaira.
These photos that I share were taken in a square, I didn't know they were going to perform there, but I passed by and stayed to watch them, although I am not a devotee I love to see cultural manifestations, and this one in particular because it is very joyful.
El nacimiento de San Juan Bautista es una de las celebraciones más populares de Venezuela, cada 24 de junio en cualquier parte del país te puedes encontrar fiestas en su honor en plazas, calles o la playa.
Los sanjuaneros, grupos de personas devotas del Bautista, se ponen sus coloridos trajes y se reúnen para cantar y bailar al ritmo del tambor, una herencia africana que se ha mantenido a lo largo de los años sobre todo en las costas de la región central del país: Aragua, Carabobo, Miranda, y La Guaira.
Estas fotos que comparto las tomé en una plaza, no sabía que se iban a presentar allí, pero pasé y me quedé viéndolos, aunque no soy devota me encanta ver las manifestaciones culturales, y esta en particular porque es muy alegre.
