In our garden we have a bed where we take care of succulents. One of the succulents is Sempervivum tectorum.
This year it bloomed in very beautiful colors.
From the main green rosettes, which spread like a carpet on the soil, stems began to emerge, which became quite elongated and formed flowers at the top.
The flower is not capricious at all and survives even in extreme temperatures.
The plant also has medicinal properties, which are due to its leaves. Their juice tightens and softens the skin, and they are often used as a poultice, which is applied to the affected area.
"They are used as a poultice in much the same way as aloe vera in the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions, burns, scalds, bites and stings, etc., and have also been used to remove stubborn warts and calluses."
It was interesting to discover that it could be found on the roofs of houses and that the old people believed that this would protect them from lightning, disease, and witches.
