Hello, Writing Club community!
Walking, I used to do it to lose weight, others use it for relaxing, a way to lose the steam of their everyday lives, but now I use it to time travel, the how and why are complicated enough for me to write this down and explain it, as I'm going on my last walk either with a success or a total failure, but the last one it is.
Discovering the walk point was both a blessing and a curse, It made my life different at a point where I severely needed it, and gave me hope when there was none, but at the same time, it cursed me to live in an endless loop of walking back into happiness and getting stuck in time, always in a happy past, never in the fraudulent present or the disastrous future. All fathers would do the same I guess, losing a daughter makes people do weird stuff, most go to therapy as a way to try to keep their lives going, and others break down and die spiritually, but I had no other choice on hand, I decided to walk back in time with the walk point.
You know, loss makes you wonder a lot of things... My daughter was just eight when she died, and my wife was in her mid-30s, I would never dare to say her real age, she would likely come back from the grave to choke me if I did, but having two females in your family and no other male to balance it out, it makes you wonder a lot about femininity.
Since I am a male in the end, most of my reasoning is unrelated but is part of the things that kept me going before finding the walk point, thinking about what it was supposed to be of my daughter and my wife with the years that were stolen from them, from me, that endless stream of time in the river of life that they never got to enjoy.
That river of time, people always thinks that it flows in a single direction, but it is not that easy, nothing in life is, and by walking on the plaza, the last place we had a day together I got to relive that day with them in my mind, enjoying time in reverse as to speak. I made those walks every week or so I could feel come close and hold my daughter and wife again, just for a single afternoon, just for a minute, just for a second, regressing time and fighting existence again.
The thing was that one day a voice intruded into my head, an unknown and ominous female voice, "Walk to the corner, turn around, and wait for exactly 12:05 before walking back in the opposite direction" I had my doubts, I was either going crazy or some sinister things were going on behind the veil... I resisted for a while, just standing there and watching the clock on my phone, but when the same voice said "Go now, my child" I decided to do so.
You know, people always believe in gods, in a way that the main pantheon of it is always male, never in my life I thought that it would be female as well as my family was, but as I saw reality go back on itself and rewind with every step I gave, I knew who talked to me, it had to be a goddess of time or life, someone capable of changing the tides of the universe and fate.
Every step returned an hour according to my phone, since their demise a few months had passed, so I knew I would have to walk far, real far, as every 24 steps was a day, 4k+ steps would make about six months, but something that I didn't notice at the star was that every day my body felt weaker, by every 24 steps I got heavier and heavier, this was not an easy walk, it was a trial set by the goddess.
As people walking on the opposite looked younger by the minute, I could feel my body aging and time regressing, I could feel how I came closer to the day, the day my child and wife became goners...
This child has something in it, something else, most grieving parents blame themselves for the car crash, for not being there, for their fate, and curse my multiple names, when I saw how he decided to walk weekly in the park they had their last day together and wonder about them and their femininity, it scored a goal for me. Most of the time, men just think of themselves, and never think about their heirs or their wife, in fact when they do think is about a male son rather than a daughter, so this one deserves a second run in my eyes, yet he is deeply away from actually think about femininity, he needs to place himself on our shoes, maybe I have to intercede a bit further.
Suddenly, the goddess hit me with a curveball, and out of thin air I started to see my wife and daughter in everyday life, flashes of images shown to me floating in the air, I could no longer see the pedestrians, the plaza, or the floor I was walking on, It was just a black place where these images and sound were constantly shown to me.

I could see my wife's thoughts, before dying it appeared that she constantly questioned my everyday screw-ups, and how she thought about my failures it was made me see her with new eyes. Most of the time she hated one thing about me, my relaxed attitude that helped me to settle in a dead-end job with good pay just for getting my family some stability, in her eyes the thing that pained her most was seeing my dreams of youth being sacrificed for our daughter future, and don't get me wrong, she respected my decision, but she hated me for doing such a thing. In her eyes what she wanted to see was both a happy husband and father, she believed in me and that I would make my dreams come true, not become a bitter man that hated his job and endure it with a fake smile on her face.

After I finally understood why the goddess was showing it to me, I decided that I would still walk, leaving those cracks in our relationship by being stuck in time, it was a useless act, I could change things up, this chance was offered to me, so I needed to do it right this time, to talk with my wife and fix my relationship with her, and then, the goddess did it again, with a fastball that hit straight to my heart.
Images of my child's thoughts, then I could not stop myself from sitting down and crying when I saw how she saw me both as a hero and as a villain and guess what, I dropped out of the walk point on the spot, Relax, try again tomorrow the walk point is going nowhere, I have to test your emotional growth and endurance, Im sorry my child.

My child saw me as a Hero every morning before work and every night I read a short fairy tale for her before going to sleep, she thought of me as a "super paps" when I did play with her and had good times with her, but these were fleeing moments in the middle of my screw-ups, my wife was aware of it and she filled the gaps, but she was oblivious of how else my daughter saw me at times.
The villain, I was a villain that robbed her of her good dad, the days that my boss was an a-hole to me and I was too angry to play with her, the days that stress caught up to me, those days, that I dint tug her before sleep, that I dint read a fairy tale story to my eight-year-old child... Those days I was a villain.
How my constant negligence was eating her away, slowly but surely, and how she felt neglected and ignored by the male gender, she had already some sparks of hate in her for all males, she wanted to fight me, to be more complex, to scream, but she dints as she loved me so much as her super paps than she could not dare to strike the villain.
Every walk attempt I was able to see more in-depth the femininity of both my wife and my daughter, of their relationship with me and also the whole male gender, how one of the neighbors was constantly eyeing my wife and making her feel deeply uncomfortable with all those little details.
I finally was getting to understand them and my mistakes, even before their deaths, our family had deep cracks in it and it was mostly about silences, misunderstandings, and lack of communication when people don't talk with each other these things happen.

Finally, I think my new project is ready, what do you think son? Mother you sure have the weirdest projects, breaking the laws of time and changing fates sure its a costly miracle... What is the point of godhood if we can't help with a broken heart? Fixing three of them at the same time is a unique opportunity son.
My final walk point, I leave these letters and some blank spaces for the goddess to mark her words upon it, she asked for it, I do not know what she is gonna say or why, but I bet my soul she is gonna try to teach some gospel with it, today I'm closer than ever, just one week to go, I need to endure the flood of my family thoughts, and I will beat the trial, earn my reward, changing timelines and rebooting my fate.
I don't know if this letter gonna keep existing or not as the future changes, but I haven't seen a copy or myself so no point in holding myself back from doing so, it's the final rush, I'm told to write it, give me your best wishes as I'm about to start in a minute, gonna place a rock on top of the letter so it doesn't go away with the wind, or maybe it is supposed to be drifted away to someone in need of its trial? Never mind, gonna leave my last words here: talk, communicate with others, and don't guess other people's feelings and thoughts, just ask, it is no biggie, that is it.

Caminar, solía hacerlo para perder peso, otros lo usan para relajarse, una manera de perder el vapor de su vida cotidiana, pero ahora lo uso para viajar en el tiempo, el cómo y el por qué son lo suficientemente complicados como para que escriba esto y lo explique, ya que voy en mi última caminata ya sea con un éxito o un fracaso total, pero la última es.
Descubrir el punto de caminata fue a la vez una bendición y una maldición, Hizo mi vida diferente en un momento en que lo necesitaba severamente, y me dio esperanza cuando no había ninguna, pero al mismo tiempo, me maldijo a vivir en un bucle sin fin de caminar de regreso a la felicidad y quedar atrapado en el tiempo, siempre en un pasado feliz, nunca en el presente fraudulento o el futuro desastroso. Todos los padres harían lo mismo supongo, perder a una hija hace que la gente haga cosas raras, la mayoría van a terapia como forma de intentar que sus vidas sigan adelante, y otros se derrumban y mueren espiritualmente, pero yo no tenía otra opción a mano, decidí caminar hacia atrás en el tiempo con el punto de marcha.
Sabes, la pérdida te hace preguntarte muchas cosas... Mi hija sólo tenía ocho años cuando murió, y mi mujer rondaba los treinta, nunca me atrevería a decir su edad real, probablemente volvería de la tumba para asfixiarme si lo hiciera, pero tener dos mujeres en tu familia y ningún otro varón para equilibrarlo, te hace preguntarte muchas cosas sobre la feminidad.
Como al final soy varón, la mayor parte de mi razonamiento no tiene nada que ver, pero forma parte de las cosas que me mantuvieron en pie antes de encontrar el punto de caminar, pensando en lo que se suponía que iba a ser de mi hija y de mi mujer con los años que les fueron robados, a mí, esa corriente interminable de tiempo en el río de la vida que ellas nunca llegaron a disfrutar.
Ese río del tiempo, la gente siempre piensa que fluye en una sola dirección, pero no es tan fácil, nada en la vida lo es, y paseando por la plaza, el último lugar donde pasamos un día juntos conseguí revivir ese día con ellas en mi mente, disfrutando del tiempo a la inversa por así decirlo. Hacía esos paseos cada semana o así podía sentir acercarme y abrazar de nuevo a mi hija y a mi mujer, sólo por una tarde, sólo por un minuto, sólo por un segundo, retrocediendo en el tiempo y luchando de nuevo contra la existencia.
El caso fue que un día una voz se inmiscuyó en mi cabeza, una desconocida y ominosa voz femenina, "Camina hasta la esquina, da la vuelta y espera exactamente a las 12:05 antes de volver a caminar en dirección contraria" Tenía mis dudas, o me estaba volviendo loco o algo siniestro estaba pasando tras el velo... Me resistí durante un rato, quedándome allí de pie y mirando el reloj de mi teléfono, pero cuando la misma voz dijo "Vete ya, hijo mío" y decidí hacerlo.
Saben, la gente siempre cree en dioses, de tal manera que el panteón principal del mismo siempre es masculino, nunca en mi vida pensé que sería femenino así como lo era mi familia, pero al ver que la realidad retrocedía sobre sí misma y rebobinaba con cada paso que daba, supe quien me hablaba, tenía que ser una diosa del tiempo o de la vida, alguien capaz de cambiar las mareas del universo y el destino.
Cada paso devolvía una hora según mi teléfono, desde su desaparición habían pasado unos meses, así que sabía que tendría que caminar mucho, muy mucho, ya que cada 24 pasos era un día, 4k+ pasos harían unos seis meses, pero algo que no notaba en la estrella era que cada día mi cuerpo se sentía más débil, por cada 24 pasos me hacía más y más pesado, esto no era una caminata fácil, era una prueba puesta por la diosa.
Mientras las personas que caminaban en sentido contrario se veían más jóvenes a cada minuto, yo podía sentir como mi cuerpo envejecía y el tiempo retrocedía, podía sentir como me acercaba al día, el día en que mi hijo y mi esposa se convertirían en muertos...
Este niño tiene algo en él, algo más, la mayoría de los padres en duelo se culpan a sí mismos por el accidente de coche, por no estar allí, por su destino, y maldicen mis múltiples nombres, cuando vi cómo decidió caminar semanalmente en el parque que tuvieron su último día juntos y preguntarse acerca de ellos y su feminidad, me marcó un gol. La mayoría de las veces, los hombres sólo piensan en sí mismos, y nunca piensan en sus herederos o en su mujer, de hecho cuando lo hacen es pensando en un hijo varón más que en una hija, así que éste merece una segunda carrera a mis ojos, sin embargo está profundamente alejado de pensar realmente en la feminidad, necesita ponerse en nuestros zapatos, quizás tenga que interceder un poco más.
De repente, la diosa me golpeó con una bola curva, y de la nada empecé a ver a mi mujer y a mi hija en la vida cotidiana, flashes de imágenes que se me mostraban flotando en el aire, ya no podía ver a los peatones, ni la plaza, ni el suelo por el que caminaba, sólo era un lugar negro donde estas imágenes y sonido se me mostraban constantemente.
Pude ver los pensamientos de mi mujer, antes de morir parecía que cuestionaba constantemente mis meteduras de pata diarias, y como pensaba en mis fracasos me hizo verla con otros ojos. La mayoría de las veces odiaba una cosa de mí, mi actitud relajada que me ayudó a instalarme en un trabajo sin futuro y con buen sueldo solo por conseguir algo de estabilidad para mi familia, a sus ojos lo que más le dolía era ver como mis sueños de juventud eran sacrificados por el futuro de nuestra hija, y no me malinterpreten, respetaba mi decisión, pero me odiaba por hacer tal cosa. A sus ojos lo que ella quería ver era un marido y un padre feliz, ella creía en mí y en que yo haría mis sueños realidad, no convertirme en un amargado que odiaba su trabajo y lo soportaba con una falsa sonrisa en la cara
Después de que finalmente entendí por qué la diosa me lo estaba mostrando, decidí que seguiría caminando, dejando esas grietas en nuestra relación por estar atrapado en el tiempo, era un acto inútil, podía cambiar las cosas, esta oportunidad se me ofreció, así que necesitaba hacerlo bien esta vez, hablar con mi esposa y arreglar mi relación con ella, y entonces, la diosa lo hizo de nuevo, con una bola rápida que golpeó directo a mi corazón.
Imágenes de los pensamientos de mi niña, entonces no pude evitar sentarme y llorar al ver como ella me veía tanto de héroe como de villano y adivina que, abandoné el punto de caminata en el acto, Relájate, inténtalo de nuevo mañana el punto de caminata no va a ningún lado, tengo que poner a prueba tu crecimiento emocional y resistencia, lo siento mi niño.
Mi niña me veía como un Héroe todas las mañanas antes de ir a trabajar y todas las noches le leía un cuento corto antes de dormir, me veía como un "super papi" cuando jugaba con ella y pasaba buenos ratos con ella, pero eran momentos de huida en medio de mis meteduras de pata, mi mujer era consciente de ello y rellenaba los huecos, pero no se daba cuenta de que otra cosa me veía mi hija a veces.
El villano, yo era un villano que le robaba a su buen padre, los días que mi jefe se portaba como un gilipollas conmigo y yo estaba demasiado enfadado para jugar con ella, los días que el estrés me atrapaba, esos días, que no la arrullaba antes de dormir, que no le leía un cuento de hadas a mi niña de ocho años... Esos días yo era una villana.
Cómo mi constante negligencia la iba carcomiendo, lenta pero segura, y cómo se sentía desatendida e ignorada por el género masculino, ya tenía algunas chispas de odio en ella hacia todos los varones, quería pelear conmigo, ser más compleja, gritar, pero se amilanaba al quererme tanto como su súper papilla que no podía atreverse a golpear al villano.
A cada intento de paseo pude ver más a fondo la feminidad tanto de mi mujer como de mi hija, de su relación conmigo y también de todo el género masculino, como uno de los vecinos miraba constantemente a mi mujer y la hacía sentir profundamente incómoda con todos esos pequeños detalles.
Por fin estaba llegando a comprenderlas a ellas y a mis errores, incluso antes de sus muertes, nuestra familia tenía profundas grietas y se trataba sobre todo de silencios, malentendidos y falta de comunicación, cuando las personas no hablan entre sí estas cosas suceden.
Por fin, creo que mi nuevo proyecto está listo, ¿Qué te parece hijo? Madre tu si que tienes proyectos raros, romper las leyes del tiempo y cambiar destinos seguro que es un milagro costoso... ¿Cuál es el punto de la divinidad si no podemos ayudar con un corazón roto? Arreglar tres al mismo tiempo es una oportunidad única hijo.
Mi último punto de caminata, dejo estas cartas y algunos espacios en blanco para que la diosa marque sus palabras sobre ella, ella lo pidió, no sé que dirá ni por qué, pero apuesto mi alma a que intentará enseñar algo de evangelio con ella, hoy estoy más cerca que nunca, solo falta una semana, necesito soportar la avalancha de pensamientos de mi familia, y venceré la prueba, ganaré mi recompensa, cambiando líneas de tiempo y reiniciando mi destino.
No sé si esta carta va a seguir existiendo o no a medida que cambie el futuro, pero no he visto una copia ni a mí mismo así que no tiene sentido retenerme para hacerlo, es la prisa final, me han dicho que la escriba, dadme vuestros mejores deseos ya que voy a empezar en un minuto, voy a colocar una piedra encima de la carta para que no se la lleve el viento o, ¿Quizás se supone que debe ser llevada a la deriva a alguien que necesite su prueba? No importa, voy a dejar mis últimas palabras aquí: habla, comunícate con los demás, y no adivines los sentimientos y pensamientos de los demás, sólo pregunta, no es gran cosa, eso es todo.
Espero que lo hayan pasado bien mientras caminaban por esta historia, ya que hice un esfuerzo por la sensación de ambiente, ya que estoy experimentando en mejorar mi escritura con este tipo de historia corta, como preparación para una escritura más compleja, y tomaré cualquier consejo y sugerencia que me puedan dar, me alegra que lo hayan leído y espero que tengan una gran semana. ¿Qué opinas de la feminidad?
