Ruleset Focus

This week's challenge in Battle Mage Secrets introduces the long standing RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset, designed specifically for players who haven't heavily invested in acquiring the most potent and often expensive Monster cards in the game! Under the RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset, Monsters with Epic and Legendary rarities are excluded from battle selection. Legendary Summoners, on the other hand, are still permitted ✌️
Unlike other rulesets, RISE OF THE COMMONS
battles don't adhere to a specific strategy. Instead, players focus on assembling the best available setup, considering factors such as other rulesets, Splinter availability, and mana restrictions. Engaging in battles with a slightly reduced power level, participants will experience fewer awe-inspiring high-rarity Monsters that typically dominate the battlefield! 😤
The Battle
While fulfilling my responsibilities in the Splinterlands scholarship account I have with Balthazar, bltzr-wizard-729, I was able to engage in a battle that involves the RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

To kick things off, let's take a closer look at the ruleset governing this battle. Firstly, the Heavy Hitters ruleset bestows the Knock Out ability upon all Monsters. Following that, the Close Range ruleset specifies that all Ranged attacks can be employed in the first position during the battle. Lastly, the focal point of this week's challenge is the RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset, extensively discussed in the preceding sections. Additionally, the battle imposes a mana restriction of 44 and prohibits the use of the Death Splinter.

Summoner, Kelya Frendul
In this battle, where the RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset takes charge, I found it easy to decide on selecting the Water Splinter, despite the array of Splinters at my disposal. The Water Splinter presents a varied selection of Common and Rare units that, in my opinions, hold the potential to surpass the offerings of the other available Splinters in this specific battle. My Summoner of choice was Kelya Frendul, selected for the valuable +1 Speed and +1 Armor buffs bestowed upon the team! ✌️

First Position, Diemonshark
Diemonshark stands out as an excellent choice for the tank role within the Water Splinter, especially under the influence of the RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset. With a cost of 8 mana, it boasts a comprehensive array of statistics, showcasing remarkable figures in Health, Speed, Armor, and Damage. Notably beneficial is its Retaliate ability, granting Diemonshark the capability to counter-attack when confronted with a Melee assault, allowing it to retaliate against its attacker! 💪

Second Position, Flying Squid
I strategically positioned the Flying Squid in the second slot to maximize its Reach ability, providing it with effective attacking capabilities from that position. In the event of the Diemonshark's defeat, the Flying Squid could then move to the first position, taking on the role of a dependable tank. Furthermore, its Backfire ability inflicts 2 damage on enemies who miss the Flying Squid during their attacks, and the Blind ability increases the likelihood of all enemies failing to hit their intended targets! 😝

Third Position, Deeplurker
Integrating the Deeplurker into my roster while utilizing the Water Splinter appears to be an unspoken rule, particularly within the RISE OF THE COMMONS
ruleset. Its Opportunity ability makes it proficient at quickly eliminating the opponent's most susceptible target. Additionally, the Deeplurker can apply Poison to its target, introducing an extra layer to its formidable offensive capabilities. In conjunction with these attributes, it also possesses the Demoralize ability, imposing a -1 Melee attack debuff on the opposing team 😎

Fourth Position, Angelic Mandarin
The Angelic Mandarin assumes a crucial role as the rearguard Healer, employing its Triage ability to skillfully restore the health of backline units. as I have opted for Diemonshark as my frontline tank, a choice susceptible to Magic attacks. The inclusion of the Angelic Mandarin with its Silence ability, amidst its Healing prowess, takes on added importance by reducing the Magic attacks inflicted by opposing Magic monsters, enhancing the resilience of my team in the face of magical assaults! 😁

Fifth Position, Supply Runner
Supply Runner is a versatile Common Monster hailing from the Neutral Splinter that has been selected to join this battle. It brings forth advantageous buff abilities such as Swiftness and Strengthen. Swiftness grants a +1 Speed boost, and Strengthen bolsters the Health stats of the entire lineup by +1, adding to the team's overall resilience. Additionally, because of the Close Range ruleset, the Supply Runner is adept at confronting the enemy from the first position, guaranteeing its active involvement in the battle when needed! ✌️

Last Position, Swamp Spitter
Securing the final slot in my lineup is the Swamp Spitter, a recent addition to my arsenal through Soulbound Rewards. Despite it being a Common Monster, the Swamp Spitter boasts a well-balanced set of stats, granting it a competitive edge. Notably, its Repair ability is particularly advantageous for maintaining the Armor stats of the frontline tankers within the Water Splinters. Aligning with the Close Range ruleset, the Swamp Spitter, like other Ranged units, is capable of launching attacks from the first position when the need arises! 😇
The Analysis

Despite the extensive variety of Splinters available in this battle, encountering the Earth Splinter was an unexpected turn of events. However, my opponent's fortunes took a downturn when confronted by my well-prepared lineup, armed with an abundance of firepower that proved formidable against the relatively vulnerable Earth units. Fortunately, the Silenced ability from the Angelic Mandarin in my lineup played a crucial role in diminishing the offensive capabilities of the enemy's Magic units! 😅
Throughout the battle, my team executed rapid attacks, swiftly overcoming the Mycelic Slipspawn's Taunt ability and subsequently eliminating the opponent's Monsters one after another in quick succession. The remarkable Speed possessed by the Water Splinter proved overwhelming for the opponent's comparatively sluggish Earth Splinter to contend with. Ultimately, the battle reached its conclusion even before their Goblin Psychic could offer much Healing support from the backline! 🤙
