"The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it." These were the words that Gandalf said to Pippin in The Lord of the Rings and it resonates with me with my beginning in the world of Play 2 Earn and Cryptocurrency in general.
I want to briefly provide some observations on what I have experienced and learnt about Splinterlands, Rising Star and Bomb Crypto.
Splinterlands
Splinterlands was my first exposure to blockchain gaming, NFTs, cryptocurrency and specifically Play 2 Earn. My Splinterlands journey began in May 2021 during the Untamed Pack Sale and the Land Sale; of which I was fortunate enough to take part in both. Since that time I’ve become a co-leader of a guild and worked my way up to be sitting comfortably in the Silver League. When the approaching general sale of Chaos Legion I hope to work my way into the Gold League.
The development team provides frequent updates and interacts with the community on a regular basis. I was genuinely surprised with how often community engagement occurred from the beginning. It really gives the impression that they value community feedback.
The community is amazing. For a game where people have some significant financial investment; the community is strong and supportive and I rarely see toxicity. Everybody from the Twitch streamers, the blog writers, the clans and just general players. I often see people free card delegations or gifts to new or struggling players.
ROI. Splinterlands has had an amazing ROI and I believe a big portion of that comes down to the aforementioned points coupled with a viable business vision and strategy.
Rising Star
I have only started Rising Star this week thanks to @drabs587. Who took the time to explain it to me over his stream. Rising Star is very much a “check it a couple of times a day” game but It has an absolutely bangin’ soundtrack thanks to all the independent artists it uses and an art style which I grew to enjoy the more I played.
Style, Style, Style – Something about this game’s style keeps me interested. It probably comes down the grungy vibe it gives and that you can relate to your local garage bands.
Progression – Rising Star has a clear progression that doesn’t appear to lock you into one area for too long or put you behind a massive paywall which is attractive for onboarding new players and players will low investment opportunities.
Bomb Crypto
Another game which I am relatively new into thanks to @rakhmen. It is very much an idle game but has a very nice colour palette and pixel art style. Its purpose is quite simple: Get heroes, bomb chests, collect coins, rest heroes, repeat. A very easy game to have running in the background and earning you passive income.
ROI – Bomb Crypto appears to have a pretty good ROI in it’s current state with the value of the coin fluctuating between $3.50-$4.30. A team of commons alone could earn you at least 1-3 coins in a day. New game modes due to release soon may also increase this.
Simplicity – Simplicity is king for Bomb Crypto. You don’t need to do much but you can still employ a strategy to increase your earnings.
