My favorite team to use, in a Splinterlands battle, is the Earth group. I have some strong tanks, from level 3 all the way to 10. When the Mana Cap is posted, that determines who I'll use for the tank. I concentrate this guy on dealing damage, not worrying about his defense.
I like to the the Venari Knifer or the Pelacor Mercenary as the tank, but if we get a 14 Mana Cap, there won't be much I can do with those two, so I'll use the Hill Giant. He's not strong, but he will last a few rounds while the rest of the team can go to work.
Then , I chose my regular fighters, the Mycelic Slipspawn and the Goblin Psychic. I always wish for more Mana, so I can add more fighters, but these two are a great combo. The Slipspawn makes them concentrate their firepower on him, while the Goblin Psychic can heal the tank and deal out a little magic damage.
Even though I had a 28 Mana Cap, I chose the Wizard of Eastwood for my Summoner, because I wanted to get rid of any enemy armor so my tank Grund can deal out the double 3 damage. If there are no hiccups, he will take out the entire enemy team in just a few rounds.
Well, my big scheme didn't work out. The placement of the enemy's Unicorn Mustang stopped my plan in its tracks. Grund missed half of his shots and the enemy's team took care of the Slipspawn before he could do anything at all!
I still haven't leaned my lesson. I'll try the team again and again. The plan usually works, maybe if I can get a 99 Mana battle, I can add in a few missing elements and finally win a battle.
