My relation with Splinterlands is on and off and I had times when I was battling day after day and other times when you wouldn't see my on the battlefield for one week. The declining tokenomics simply destroys sometimes the pleasure of playing, but some other times gives glimpses of hope. And while I haven't played for a while, I decided to get back to it and see what's new. And what I observed right away is that now the fight is harder and harder and climbing to the next level feels so far away. I am struggling in Silver I and maybe Gold III, while before I was playing comfortable in the Gold to Diamond Leagues. I play in Wild as I promised to myself not to invest anymore in the game until its tokenomics are corrected and I am still waiting for that to happen. But I still have the desire to play and when that kicks in I am throwing 2,000 DEC to get into the Wild without any restrictions. I am not getting rich, but I think I am covering the cost of the Wild Pass and get a little bit on top. And if the tokenomics get better, who knows, maybe all this "work" will pay out.
Consistency and determination is the key of the game
It is clear for me that all those determined and perseverant which are playing the game day by day are the ones that win the most fights and make the most of it in Splinterlands. And that's not an easy way to do it, you need strong nerves, great skills and quite a bit of time. And in my case maybe all of these diminished, but I still appear here and there on the battlefield and try to make the most of it. Like today, not only that I am playing Splinterlands, but I am also writing this article about it. So for sure some positive energy about the game came my way and I didn't want it to vanish into thin air.
More players have upped their game
There are more players who know what they’re doing now more than ever – veterans, strategists, hungry new players and grinders. That means if you want to survive, let alone thrive, you’ve got to bring your A game. Whether it's Wild or Modern mode, things get intense pretty fast. You can’t just rely on old habits and way of thinking – you've got to stay sharp and keep evolving. I’ve had my fair share of losing streaks lately, but that only fuels me more. Because in Splinterlands, nothing is handed to you anymore – now you really need to earn it.
The game is evolving and changing, but the grind is worth it
Every day I log in, I see that the game has moved another step forward. New summoners, new cards, different rule sets, new gameplay modes – and it’s all pushing us to level up our game and stay more within this great ecosystem. And let’s be honest, it’s getting harder to earn too. With the market fluctuations and tokenomics not having an uptrend, I really feel the squeeze. But here’s the thing: those who stay in the game long enough, who power up Splintershards as often as possible, still find and harvest value. If it was easy, everyone would do it. But it’s not easy anymore – and that’s what makes every win feel even better.
I feel now more than ever that Splinterlands is not for the faint of heart. The battles are real, and only the determined keep climbing. But as an OG, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The harder it gets, the sweeter the victories become. So I’ll keep fighting, adapting, and learning – because that’s what true players do. And on top of that there is always the hope the Splintershards (SPS) will truly shine in the end.
