HELLO to all Splinterlands readers of my humble blog.ππ»ππ»ππ» Welcome to yet another week of the "new" iteration of the Splinterlands Weekly Challenges π. The "old" Battle Challenges are now a thing of the past (at least for now?) and they have been replaced with this week's "Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Welcome to the Frontier".
For any old Hivers/Splinterlands players who've just come back and are confused, fret not! Even with the name and format tweaks, right at it's core, battles are still the foundation of these posts.
In this week's edition of my Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Welcome to the Frontier, I will do something drastically different from my usual battle showcases. Instead of war, I will become a peaceful teacher showing all new players how to most effectively navigate the topic of "Welcome to the Frontier".
Howdy to all Splinterlands fans! Frontier Format has officially dropped, and with it, ushering in a brand new 100% free to play battleground that levels the playing field for newcomers and veterans alike. In this post, weβll explore why the Frontier Format matters, how Campaign Mode kick starts your journey, the nitty gritty of Foundation cards, the clever "energy and quest" system, and why your earned cards truly belong to you! And with this, let's hope you fellow readers will then be inspired to share your Frontier Format tales and rally the next wave of players.
That being said, here's some tips and tricks from Yours Truly which will hopefully help any new player who comes across this guide. Read on to find out more! π

No matter! I present to you β Welcome to the Frontier.
So without further ado, let me introduce how best to navigate this seemingly impossible task to you! π

βοΈπ‘οΈ Frontier Found: Pioneering Splinterlandsβ Free to Play Era π‘οΈβοΈ

With all that being said, here is how I would advice ALL players on how you can capitalize on some of these simple strategies!
π Why Frontier Matters
- A True Free to Play Revolution
What do I think is Frontierβs biggest flex? No opening of your wallet is required! Every battle uses Foundation cards you earn through play rather than purchase, so you can jump in with zero investment and still climb the ranks. I still chuckle recalling my first win against a much higher levelled "pay to win" player using nothing but my starter deck β skill truly trumps splurging. By removing the pay to win barrier, Splinterlands guarantees that every victory in Frontier is a testament to your tactics, not your bank balance.
- Campaign Mode: Your Frontier Bootcamp
Before new players even dip their toes into ranked play, Frontier channels them through Campaign Modeβs Book 1, where completing eleven chapters nets you a full spread of Foundation Archons and Units with no purchases necessary. I binge rushed those chapters in one go, savouring each unlock as though Iβd discovered a secret dungeon, and by the end, Iβd assembled a versatile deck capable of tackling both low mana scrambles and higher cost slugfests. This structured introduction ensures newbies feel empowered, allowing them a gentle learning curve, and ensuring everyone starts with a solid, transferable card pool. Meanwhile, veterans revisit core synergies, making Campaign Mode the ultimate onboarding and refresher all in one.
- Foundation Cards Only Emphasises Strategy Over Collection
Unlike Modern or Wild, Frontier restricts you to a uniform pool of Foundation cards, forcing innovation within shared constraints rather than chasing metas or market trends. After experimenting with half a dozen line-ups, I discovered a sneaky deck combo Iβd never considered in other formats! Sometimes, limitations spark the most creative breakthroughs. This "equal-arms" approach transforms every match into a pure duel of wits, where true deck building prowess reigns supreme.
- Separate Energy System & Daily Quests
Frontier comes stocked with it's own energy bar, completely decoupled from Modern and Wild, plus three daily quests that you complete simply by winning five Frontier matches each β no extra charges or cross-format competition. Iβve found myself hoarding energy for weekend grind sprints, then burning through matches in marathon sessions that yield more cards and packs than I ever dreamt possible. This design keeps Frontier focused and fun without trampling on your main play plan, letting you toggle between formats without fear of running dry.
- Own Every Card You Earn
Perhaps the sweetest twist: every Foundation card you snag in Frontier is fully transferable, sellable, and even upgradable, so your hard won collection holds real value on the open market. I turned extra Foundation cards into starter DEC, which funded my first actual pack purchase. It turns out, Frontier winnings can jump start your entire Splinterlands career! By tying gameplay to tangible ownership, Splinterlands cements the real world value of your victories, making every match count for your wallet as much as your leaderboard position.
Ready to stake your claim on the Frontier? Whether youβre a fresh recruit chasing your first epic victory or a seasoned summoner craving a fair-play playground, Frontier Format delivers thrills, strategy, and rewards without opening your wallet. Jump into Campaign Mode, master those Foundation synergies, conquer your daily quests, and share your Frontier tales in Hive blogs β because the real adventure starts when everyone, everywhere, can play.

ππ§πEnding Thoughtsππ§π

I definitely can appreciate Welcome to the Frontier and how it changes the dynamics of usual gameplay. This is one of those situations which can be turned into a huge advantage if surrounded with the proper strategies. The role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. ππ»
