Hi Splinterfam! We're kicking off this 2025 that we hope will be full of success and prosperity with our first community engage challenge dedicated to one of the facets that attracts me the most about this game and I'm referring to the progress system that manifests itself through the level system and card combinations. So this will be as detailed a guide as possible on how this important part of the game works. Let's get started!

Damos inicio a este 2025 que esperemos sea de éxitos y prosperidad con nuestro primer community engage challenge dedicado a uno de las facetas que más me atrae de este juego y me refiero al sistema de progreso que se manifiesta a través del sistema de niveles y combinación de las cartas. Así que esta será una guía lo más detallada posible de como funciona esta parte importante del juego. Comencemos!

Monsters on Splinterlands cards are the fundamental piece of the game, as they are the units that we can summon to fight against our opponent on the battlefield. In general you should understand that there are 4 types of rarity: common, rare, epic and legendary units, each one has different requirements and levels, let's see what differentiates each one of them.

Los monstruos en las cartas de Splinterlands son la pieza fundamental del juego, pues son las unidades que podremos invocar para que combatan contra nuestro oponente en el campo de batalla. En general debes entender que existen 4 tipos de rareza: unidades comunes, raras, épicas y legendarias, cada una tiene diferentes requerimientos y niveles, vamos a ver que diferencia a cada una de ellas.

Common cards are the monsters you will most often find in booster packs and reward chests if we go by the current edition of cards (Rebellion), common cards require a total of 400 combined copies to reach their maximum. Rare cards have a lower drop probability and due to their higher degree of rarity and difficulty in obtaining them, they require a smaller number of copies, 115 to reach their maximum.

Las cartas comunes son los monstruos que con más frecuencia encontraras en sobres y cofres de recompensa si nos guíamos por la edición actual de cartas (Rebellion), las cartas comunes requieren un total de 400 copias combinadas para llevarlas al máximo. Por su parte las cartas raras tienen una probabilidad menor de dropeo y por su mayor grado de rareza y dificultad de conseguirlas requieren de menor numero de copias, 115 para llegar al máximo.

While a common card has a maximum of 10 levels to complete, a rare card only has 8 levels. Another difference is that most common cards do not have skills until they reach high levels, while rare cards already come with some skill or develop one as soon as they reach level 2.

Mientras una carta común tiene un máximo de 10 niveles a completar, una rara solo tiene 8 niveles. Otra de las diferencias es que en su mayoría las cartas comunes no tienen habilidades sino hasta alcanzar niveles altos, mientras que las raras ya vienen con alguna habilidad o desarrollan una apenas suben al nivel 2.

Now then, the other 2 types of rarity that exist are epic and legendary, the drop rate of these cards in envelopes and chests is much lower than in common and rare cards, but they make up for this by being cards with exceptional statistics and they can have between 2 to 3 abilities from level 1, this is the reason why these cards sell for a high price on the market, just having one of these cards at level 1 is enough to make the difference in a battle.

Ahora bien los otros 2 tipos de rareza existentes son las épicas y las legendarias, la tasa de dropeo de estas cartas en sobre y cofres es mucho menor que en cartas comunes y raras, pero esto lo compensan por ser cartas con estadísticas excepcionales y llegan a tener entre 2 a 3 habilidades desde el nivel 1, esta es la razón por la que estas cartas se venden a un precio alto en el mercado, basta con tener una de estas cartas en nivel 1 para haga la diferencia en una batalla.

While common and rare cards start by first increasing their statistics and at intermediate and advanced levels developing skills, epic and legendary cards tend to improve both parameters as they level up. This is the advantage of increasing your cards' level. The improvement of statistics and the development of new skills can make a difference at the time of a battle. But before we see how this system of combining and upgrading cards works, there is a critical element that we must manage and that is the one concerning the summoners.

Mientras las cartas comunes y raras comienzan primero incrementando sus estadísticas y en niveles intermedios y avanzados a desarrollar habilidades, las cartas épicas y legendarias tienden a mejorar ambos parámetros al subir de nivel, esta es la ventaja de incrementar tus cartas de nivel, la mejora de estadísticas y el desarrollo de nuevas habilidades pueden hacer la diferencia a la hora de un combate. Pero antes de ver como funciona este sistema de combinación y upgradeo de cartas hay un elemento crítico que debemos manejar y es el concerniente a los invocadores.

Summoner Level and Rarity/Nivel y Rareza de los Invocadores

The summoners are in charge of placing the units in position on the battlefield and depending on their nature will dictate the character of our splinter: fire, water, earth, life, death and dragon. So, in order to take advantage of the cards that we upgrade as we advance in the game, we will require that these summoners be upgraded as well.

Los invocadores son los encargados de poner en posición las unidades en el campo de batalla y dependiendo de su naturaleza dictará el carácter de nuestro splinter: fuego, agua, tierra, vida, muerte y dragón. Entonces, para poder aprovechar las cartas que vayamos upgradeando a medida que avancemos en el juego requeriremos que estos invocadores sean upgradeados también.

As with the rest of the monster cards, the summoners are classified by rarity, the first are the common ones that I consider to be the most expensive since 400 copies are needed to take them to the maximum and this is where the value of a summoner weighs in the game, I say this because having a summoner ensures that you can use the cards from any edition.

Como con el resto de las cartas monstruos, los invocadores se clasifican por rareza, los primeros son los comunes que considero son de los más caros ya que se necesitan 400 copias para llevarlos al máximo y aquí es donde pesa el valor de un invocador en el juego, esto lo digo porque tener un invocador te asegura poder utilizar las cartas de cualquier edición.

Under other circumstances I would say that having a summoner was a solid investment in the game but the separation of the game into modern and wild formats, the charging of a pass to play in wild are things that in my opinion have seriously devalued the summoners since knowing that the summoners you now have in modern will soon be thrown into the wild format and you will have to pay a pass to play has taken away a lot of value and purpose from the last run of summoners.

Bajo otras circunstancias diría que tener un invocador era una inversión sólida dentro del juego pero la separación del juego en formato moderno y wild, el cobro de un pase para jugar en wild son cosas que a mi juicio han devaluado seriamente los invocadores ya que al saber que los invocadores que ahora tienes en modern pronto serán tirados al formato wild y tendrás que pagar un pase por jugar le ha restado mucho valor y propósito a la última tirada de invocadores.

Of all the summoners, one that I have a great interest in is the epic summoners, since while all the other summoners only allow you to summon rare units at level 6 when they are at the top of the gold league, the epic summoner allows you to summon a rare unit at level 7 that would already be considered a diamond league card, so it is a huge advantage in clan battles and tournaments because in ranked games they had the brilliant idea of eliminating the leagues and thus continuing to mutilate the fun of the game.

De todos los invocadores uno a los que le tengo un gran interés es a los invocadores épicos, ya que mientras todos los demás invocadores solo te permiten invocar unidades raras en nivel 6 cuando están a tope de la liga de oro, el invocador épico te permite invocar una unidad rara en nivel 7 que ya se consideraría una carta de liga de diamante, por lo que es una ventaja enorme en las batallas de clanes y torneos porque en la partidas ranked tuvieron la genial idea de eliminar las ligas y con ello continuar mutilando la diversión del juego.

So, with each level we reach of these summoners, this will unlock the levels of the units that we can place on the field and of course, with higher level units, their statistics will be better and you will be able to count on more abilities that tip the balance in your favor.

Entonces, con cada nivel que alcancemos de estos invocadores esto irá desbloqueando los nivelves de las unidades que podremos colocar en el campo y por supuesto con unidades de mayor nivel, mejores serán sus estadísticas y podrás contar con más habilidades que inclinen la balanza a tu favor.

At the time of writing these lines, the latest edition of cards (Rebellion) has already stopped being sold and we can only obtain reward cards with the glints we obtain in ranked games. My recommendation is to start buying common and rare cards since they are the most used, while legendary and epic cards, once they are at level 1, will effectively fulfill their task.

Al momento de escribir estas líneas la última edición de cartas (Rebellion) ya dejó de venderse y solo podremos obtener cartas de recompensa con los glints que obtengamos en las partidas ranked. Mi recomendación es comenzar a comprar cartas comunes y raras ya que son las que más se usan, mientras que las legendarias y épicas ya con que estén en nivel 1 cumplen eficazmente su tarea.

Chests are another source to obtain cards, you get them by leveling up, if you are lucky you can get an epic or even legendary card. Here I show you the cards I obtained when reaching Gold II.

Los cofres son otra fuente para obtener cartas, los consigues al subir de ligar, si tienes suerte puedes conseguir una carta épica o incluso legendaria. Aquí te muestro las cartas que obtuve al llegar a Oro II.

Another set of cards that we can get in the game are the Gladius cards, these can be obtained in clan wars with the merits obtained at the end of that tournament and with which we can buy packs. These cards are linked to the account and cannot be transferred, although they can only be used in clan tournaments. There is a rule in ranked that allows them to be used and summoners who can also summon them.

Otro conjunto de cartas que podremos obtener en el juegos con las cartas Gladius, éstas pueden obtenerse en las guerras de clanes con los méritos obtenidos al final de ese torneo y con los que podremos podremos comprar packs. Estas cartas están enlazadas a la cuenta y no se pueden transferir aunque solo se pueden usar en torneos de clanes hay una regla en ranked que permite usarlas e invocadores que también pueden invocarlos.

We recently finished the last clan battle and I collected my merits. So I will take the opportunity to share with you how with these obtained cards I complete enough copies to upgrade some cards.

In the first case we upgraded Ava the Crusher and Relenor Cleaver, as you can see in their first levels, the only thing that improves are their statistics. It seems little, but these cards have the bloodlust ability, so if they knock down their enemy, all their statistics increase by 1, making them very dangerous units.

En el primer caso upgradeamos a Ava the Crusher y a Relenor Cleaver como pueden ver en sus primeros niveles lo único que mejoran son sus estadísticas, parece poco pero estas cartas tienen la habilidad bloodlust por lo que si derriban a su enemigo todas sus estadísticas se incrementan por 1 convirtiéndose en unidades muy peligrosas.

In the case of Whistling Damon the change is more drastic since he learns an ability, in this case piercing that allows him to pierce enemy defenses if the damage exceeds the target's defenses. I always recommend joining a clan as soon as possible to get these cards as soon as possible, they are really powerful and whenever you can use them you will have an advantage on the battlefield.

En el caso de Whistling Damon el cambio es más drástico ya que aprende una habilidad, en este caso piercing que le permite atravesar las defensas enemigas si el daño supera las defensas del objetivo. Siempre recomiendo unirse lo más pronto posible a un clan para conseguir lo más pronto posible estas cartas, son realmente poderosas y siempre que puedas usarlas tendrás una ventaja en el campo de batalla.
