Good morning my fellow Splinterlandians!
You can SKIP TO THE END FOR A Tl;Dr Spoiler... IF YOU WANT 😡
Today we are going to look at what it takes to get from Novice -> Silver League.
I will cover the requirements, the pros and cons and the BEST way I have found to get there...
What do I mean by BEST? The cheapest way I have found to do so.
I don't know about you but I can't throw handfuls of BTC around like it's pocket change!
I see a lot of chatter in the Global Chat box about getting to Silver League or "stuck in Novice", "stuck in Bronze", etc...
This doesn't have to be the case though!
I decided to write this piece with hopes I can help new players easily transition from Novice League - no prizes :( - up to Silver League where you can win 2 Daily Reward Chests and 12... yes TWELVE Season Reward Chests... OR MORE!!
First, lets cover the REQUIREMENTS of each League:
Novice Prerequisites: Nothing... Just... Exist. Buy a Spellbook and you're a Novice!
Congrats. You did it. ...and there was much rejoicing -_-
Novice Requirements:
- A 0-99 Rating
- No minimum Power level
You're capped at Level 1 Monsters and Level 1 Summoners...
[I'll write another aguidefornewbies piece on Summoner/Monster Levels (it's VERY important) - just follow me and look for the hashtag!]
Being in Novice League means you will play intro level cards against other n00bz and learn the mechanics of the game... but if you're like me... you want MOAR... You're here because you want that sweet, sweet Play to Earn payout ;)
Win a few games and you'll bump up past the 99 Rating points you need and move on to Bronze League... right??
Let's take a look at Bronze League and something new... "Power" requirements 🧐🤔
Bronze Summoner/Monster Caps: Common 3, Rare 2, Epic 2, Legendary 1
First and foremost... PRIZES!
Once you hit Bronze, you can start winning... sort of... You will start receiving Daily Quests and upon completing them, earn a Loot Chest!
Loot Chests contain an incredibly wide range of prizes from the face slapping low end of... ONE DEC (I absolutely LOVE this prize... said no one ever) up to Gold Foil Legendary cards!
DEC Rewards - you can start earning DEC in Bronze League as a reward for Winning Battles... Play to Earn!
- Bronze III requires 100-399 Rating... It pays out Five (5) Loot Chests as a Season Reward
- Seasons are 15 Day periods of Ranked Battles. At the end, you're awarded prizes based on League... and if you're badass enough to place in the Top 20 in Bronze League you also get up to THIRTY THOUSAND DEC... Yes 30k DEC... as a Bonus Prize, in addition to the Loot Chests.
I'd like to note, at the time of this writing, Schwarszchild of Immortal Gods has been crushing n00bz in the Bronze League with LlamaKron for WEEKS... probably because they like the 30k DEC payout but also BECAUSE THEY'RE A BIG BABY WHO LACKS THE SKILLS TO PLAY IN ANY HIGHER LEAGUES... -_-
I said what I said.
(It's the DEC Farming but I'm still judging you Schwarzchild)
!!IMPORTANT!! Bronze III does NOT pay DEC Rewards, you must get to Bronze II or higher!!
Keep battling, luck your way into a few wins and crest the 400 Power threshold and you're in Bronze II territory!
You made it! You beat the other horde of n00bz thrashing around aimlessly, cutting their teeth among the herd while trying to avoid the eyerolling curbstomp of a LlamaKron beating from Schwarszchild and other N00b Farmers...
You persisted, you won, you have a 400 Rating, you're in Bronze II right?? RIGHT?! Maybe...
- Bronze II introduces "Power" requirements and requires 1000 of it... What the heck is that?
- "Power" represents the amount of DEC you would get if you "Burned" or "Destroyed" your cards...
FOR THE LOVE OF SWEET BABY JESUS, DO NOT DO THIS!!
"Power" is the DEC Value of your currently PLAYABLE cards that are OWNED or RENTED by YOU.
If you open packs, buy cards, rent them FROM other players - this increases your CP.
NOTE - if you rent OUT your cards TO other players... this DECREASES your Power! It's a great way to farm passive DEC... but can limit your advancement in the Leagues.
Each card has a different DEC or Power Level. There are many great charts out there that cover this but I'll use Chaos Legion cards for this example:
Common: 5 Power--------Gold Foil Common: 125 Power
Rare: 20 Power------------Gold Foil Rare: 500 Power
Epic: 100 Power-----------Gold Foil Epic: 2500 Power
Legendary: 500 Power----Gold Foil Lego: 12,500 Power!
As you can see, the Gold Foil version is worth 25 times (25x) more than the regular version.
Please note, when you level cards, the Power level increases for each card merged - If you merge 5 commons to make a L2 Common, it is 25 Power!
I'll talk more about leveling cards in another #guidefornewbies later.
Let's get back to You, champ! You applied the beatdown, you showed the other scrubs who's boss, you're the Cream and we all know what that means...
You earned a 400 Rating so you should be in Bronze II... and you will be if you have 1,000 Power worth of cards... Getting 1,000 Power is pretty easy and cheap. No need to explain.
Bronze II Benefits:
- 1 Loot Chest for Daily Quests "Please be the 1 DEC chest!! 😒"
- Mini DEC Rewards per battle (less than 1 DEC/win... womp womp)
- 7 Loot Chests for Season Rewards (+2 over Bronze III)
- Rating Reset to 100...
At this point it's worth talking about that... Rating Reset...
After the Loot Chest Payout at the end of a Season... The ratings are "Reset". The Leaderboards are redone and SCHWARSZCHILD is DETHRONED... if only momentarily.
(Nothing personal against Schwarszchild but as the reigning Bronze Champ and a n00b farmer I've lost to many times... I'm gonna pick a little - suck it up bucko, I'm sure the 30k DEC are worth it 😉)
It doesn't matter if your rating is 400 or 699... if you're in Bronze II when the bell tolls... Your rating is now 100 and you have to climb the slopes of Mt Doom all over again... oh and if you're a 699 at that point...
Sorry not sorry... MOVING ON!
Bronze I... Oh hell yes brother... You made it big dog! You wrestled your way free from the mucky muck like Wonderboy and are sitting high and mighty with your 700 Rating.
You're at the top of dog heap that is Bronze League. A pile of n00b skulls at your feet. Let's look at those rewards... but only if you have 5,000 power...
5k Power isn't too hard or expensive to get and I'd really recommend you aim to purchase a few cards to be competitive at this level...
I'll cover Bronze League Must-Haves in a future #guidefornewbies
Bronze I Benefits:
- 1 Loot Chest for Daily Quests
- Small DEC Rewards per battle (1-2 DEC/win... meh, but better than 0)
- 9 Loot Chests for Season Rewards (+2 over Bronze II)
- Rating Reset to 300... yuck.
Bronze I Requirements:
700-999 Rating
5,000+ Power
Unfotunately, this is the threshold most people get stuck at... fortunately (or unfortunately) with the release of Chaos Legion (CL), card prices have come down tremendously, making it easier to reach Silver... BUT... Here's why it has been tricky and expensive (and still is):
Bronze III - 0 Power
Bronze II - 1,000 Power (+1,000)
Bronze I - 5,000 Power (+4,000)
Silver III - 15,000 Power (+10,000)!
+10,000 Power is not a small jump to go from Bronze -> Silver. That's TRIPLING (3x) your Bronze I collection size (strength)!
For many people, purchasing that many cards isn't/wasn't feasible - I mean think about the math behind it...
A Reward Lego (cheapest Legendary, found in Loot Chests) usually ran $20 before CL and only gave 500 power... So it would require at least $600 to get 15,000 power (30 @ 500pow x $20 = $600)...
With CL cards flooding the market, you can get cheap Legos for $12-13 or so but it's not the best way to do it, especially if you want to have COMPETITIVE CARDS to keep a decent W/L ratio in Silver League
First, you bad mammajamma... Let's look at Silver League and the benefits you earn from it!
PAY ATTENTION:
Silver Summoner/Monster Caps: Common 5, Rare 4, Epic 3, Legendary 2
Now... On to the good stuff!
Silver III Benefits:
- 2 Loot Chests for Daily Quests!
- Medium DEC Rewards per battle (10ish DEC/win... much better than Bronze)
- 12 Loot Chests for Season Rewards (+3 over Bronze I)
- Rating Reset to 500... oooooooof.
Going from 1 to 2 Loot Chests per day is AWESOME - you just DOUBLED the amount of FREE stuff you'll get! HELL YEAH BROTHER!!
In addition to this, you win around TEN (10) DEC per victory! 10 DEC can buy you another Common! You basically WIN A COMMON each time you win a game!!!
This allows you to increase your Power WITHOUT ADDING $$$ to the game... PLAY TO EARN BABY!!
I will make a #guidefornewbies on maximizing the DEC you earn from each win later (follow me and upvote - or whatever the cool kids do on Splintertalk)
TWELVE (12) Loot Chests per Season Reward!! Heck yeah!! That's a lot of FREE SWAG... Remember you get everything from DEC to Potions to Cards... EVEN LEGENDARIES!
Now that we're drooling over reaching Silver III... Let's look at the PreReqs and HOW to get there, without selling a kidney.
Silver III Requirements:
1,000-1,299 Rating... You're like Jon Snow, King of the N00bz!
15,000 Power... a tough barrier to entry... or is it?
If you try to do it organically, it can be. Even with current prices, it's still probably around $500 or so to buy cards and be relatively competitive at this level (it's a big jump from Bronze-Silver and I'll cover that later too).
So the question becomes - how do I get 10K+ of Power without shelling out $400?
I truly hope you read this guide but I will grudgingly Tl;Dr it for you if you didn't...
It has good info for anyone looking to truly increase their Splinterlands knowledge. It's part of a series I will do to help the new players feel welcome in the community and make it easier for them to navigate their way through the Game along with the opportunities it presents!

You owe me a Follow, Upvote and !Beer... Dang LAZYBONES!!
Please understand this:
The Market Prices of Cards will fluctuate with Crypto as a Whole and with the time left in the Season... Please be VERY aware of the Season Timer when checking prices...
The LESS time in the Season... The HIGHER the Prices!
Currently there is TWO DAYS in the Season which means prices are higher now for Purchase and Rentals than almost any other time in the Season.
With that being said look at this snapshot I just took:
During the bulk of the season, these prices will be in the 50 DEC range or roughly $.30/d at current prices! When the timer hits < 1 Day you'll see the GF Lego Rental prices jump to 500+ DEC/day (in the past, let's see what happens with CL cards flooding the market).
Make sure you're using your $ to buy COMPETITIVE cards for Bronze/Silver Leagues so you can knock out the WINS and earn DEC...
But if you have enough Power to get to Bronze I (5k)... RENTING a Reward or Chaos Legion Gold Foil Legendary for ONLY 50 DEC/day is the CHEAPEST AND EASIEST WAY TO GET TO SILVER III!
5k Power... + 12,500 Power for RENTING a GF Legendary = 17,500 Power!
Think about it - in Silver III you earn ~10 DEC per battle you win... So win 5 Battles per day and your Rental is PAID FOR.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and found it useful or humorous... NOT YOU SCHWARSZCHILD!! You think I forgot!? Jk Jk lol
Now go earn those extra loot chests in both the Daily and Season Rewards, make some DEC to buy some new cards and I'll see you in the Silver Leagues (Hopefully Gold eventually, I'm not ballin' like that as you can see from my screenshots)
If you got any value out of this you can send your thanks to @captaindingus and I'm a size GF Lego 😁😁😁
