Honestly, I loved today’s topic in @splinterlands, which is teach and succeed. I’m not an expert in the game, but today we’ll learn the basics which are the most important part that I’ll call “how to position yourself in battle and not die trying.”
There’s no point in teaching someone to play in a certain way if you don’t know which card should go first, which one goes second, and so on. I feel this can be the foundation of everything, and that’s what this tutorial is about starting from the roots.
I want to clarify that this tutorial is for people who are just starting in the game (the newbies), and I’ve tried to put everything together step by step. That said, let’s begin:
- The battlefield
- Melee units
- Magic units
- Ranged units
- Special units
THE BATTLEFIELD
This is where it all happens. Here you can place a maximum of 7 cards (6 units and an Archon) or a minimum of 2 (1 unit and 1 Archon). The Archon is the main card (like the captain of your army) and it gives extra abilities to your units.
It’s important to keep in mind that having more cards on the field won’t guarantee victory, since your opponent can also place the same number of cards or fewer and still beat you.
As an extra tip, try to spend all your mana on units, depending on what the battle allows.
MELEE UNITS
As their name suggests, these units deal damage through direct contact. They generally go in the first position, and you should always look for ones with good base health (these are your tanks).
A common rookie mistake is placing melee units without abilities in the second position this is wrong, because they can’t attack until the tank dies and they move up to the first position.
You can use melee units in middle or back positions as long as they have abilities. Here are some examples:

There are also three exceptions where you can place a melee unit without abilities in the second position:
Battle rule: the match allows units to attack from any position.
The unit has the Reach ability, allowing it to attack from second position.
The main tank has the Flank ability, which gives Reach to the second melee card so it can attack from position two (this setup is very useful).
MAGIC UNITS
These are known for dealing damage directly to the health of enemy units, bypassing armor (though there are exceptions and counter abilities). They are excellent cards but generally have low base health.
You can place these cards anywhere you like since they attack from any position, though my advice is to put them in the middle to keep them safe while they slowly take down the enemy.
There are setups where you can play full magic, but you’ll need a specific Archon for that. For example, an Archon could give them +1 magic attack.
I also feel that playing magic focused matches can help you better understand how the battlefield works and how some cards behave.
RANGED UNITS
These are the last category, and they deal arrow damage. I recommend placing them in the last position if possible.
They deal good damage but have one drawback: they can’t attack from the first position unless they have the Close Range ability or an Archon grants it to them.
Another thing to note is that their attacks can miss, so keep that in mind.
Here’s an example of a real battle using all the concepts we learned today:

SPECIAL UNITS
I’ll just touch on this briefly there are cards that can deal extra damage, such as when they die, area damage, or even damage with their armor.
We won’t go deep into this topic today since it’s for another post, but keep in mind that they exist and that the same positioning principles I taught you still apply. Here are some examples:

La verdad me encanto este tema que tocaremos el día de hoy en @splinterlands y es enseña y triunfa; no soy un experto en el juego pero hoy aprenderemos lo básico que es lo mas importante que llameremos como posicionarnos en batalla y no morir en el intento.
De nada sirve enseñar a jugar en tal modo si no sabes que carta va de primera,cual va de segunda y así sucesivamente. Siento que esta puede ser la base de todo y de esto se trata este tutorial, empezar por las raíces.
Aclaro que este tutorial es para las personas que están empezando en el juego ( los novatos ) y he tratado de recopilar todo paso a paso, dicho esto comencemos:
- el campo de batalla
- unidades melee
- unidades magia
- unidades arquería
- unidades especiales
EL CAMPO DE BATALLA
Aquí es donde ocurre todo, en él podes poner un máximo de 7 cartas ( 6 unidades y un archon ) o un mínimo de 2 ( 1 unidad y 1 archon ). El archon que es la carta madre ( es como el capitán de tu ejercito ) y este le da habilidades extra a tus unidades. Es importante que tengas en cuenta que tener mas cartas en el campo no te dará la victoria ya que tu oponente también puede poner el mismo numero de cartas o menos y ganarte.
Como nota adicional trata de gastarte todo el mana en unidades según la batalla lo permita.
UNIDADES MELEE
Estas unidades como si nombre lo indica hacen daño por contacto , generalmente estas van en primera posición y siempre busca unidades que tengan buena vida base (son el tanque ). Un error de novato que se comete mucho es poner unidades melee sin habilidades en la posición 2 y esto esta mal ya que esta no puede atacar hasta que se muera el tanque y esta pase a ser el nuevo tanque.
Puedes usar unidades melee en las posiciones intermedias o atrás siempre y cuando tengan habilidades, aquí te muestro algunas.

también existe estas 3 excepciones para poner una unidad melee sin habilidades en la posición 2 y son estas:
- regla en batalla: la partida te permite jugar unidades que atacan en cualquier posición
- la unidad tiene la habilidad reach que le permite atacar en la segunda posición
- el tanque principal tiene esta habilidad Flank que le da reach a la segunda carta melee y esta puede atacar desde la posición 2 (este alineación es muy útil ).
UNIDADES MAGIA
Bueno estas se caracterizan por hacer daño a la vida de las unidades enemigas sin tocar su armadura ( claro esta existen excepciones y habilidades para combatir esto ), son excelentes cartas y generalmente no tienen mucha salud base. Estas cartas los podes usar donde tu quieras ya que atacan desde cualquier posición, aunque mi consejo es ponerlas en la mitad para cuidarlas y que vallan acabando con el enemigos poco a poco. Existen alineaciones donde puedes jugar full magia pero para eso necesitas un Archon especifico, aquí un ejemplo con dicha alineación ( el archon les daría +1 de ataque mágico )
Igual siento que jugar partidas con magia te puede ayudar a entender mejor como funciona el campo de batalla y algunas cartas.
UNIDADES ARQUERIA
Bueno estas son las ultimas y se caracterizan por hacer daño de flecha, estas si te recomiendo que las pongan en ultima posición si es posible. Hacen buen daño pero tienen un defecto y es que no pueden atacar si están en la primera posición a menos de que tengan la habilidad de close Range o un Arhon se las de. Otro aspecto de estas cartas es que tienen una probabilidad de fallar los ataques así que ten en esto presente.

UNIDADES ESPECIALES
Este tema lo tocare muy por encima ya que existen cartas que pueden hacer daño adicional tales como daño cuando mueren, de área o incluso pueden hacer daño con su escudo. No hablaremos mucho del tema ya que este tema para otro post ,pero quiero que tengas eso presente de que existen y se les aplica el mismo principio de alineación que te enseñe. Aquí ejemplos de algunas:
Se que quizás te sientas abrumado por todo esto, pero te aseguro que este post te ayudara a mejorar en en el juego en cualquier modo que pienses jugar, ademas también puedes jugar el modo campaña que trae el juego para que reafirmes tus conocimientos aun más.
