Splinterlands cards are categorized by edition and set, each with unique characteristics that impact gameplay and availability.

Alpha Edition

First edition, released in May 2018, marking the start of the game.

Included 59 core cards (Alpha Core) and a limited subset of promotional cards (Alpha Promo).

Key Features:
Alpha cards grant a 10% bonus to Rshares when used in battles.
Only 300,000 Alpha boosters were produced, available occasionally on secondary markets such as Hive-Engine or Atomic Hub.

Alpha Promo: Includes 4 exclusive dragon cards (2 summoners and 2 units) with Gold Foil variants, released through the game's first Kickstarter project.

Game Mode:

All Alpha cards are playable in ranked battles in Wild mode.

Beta Edition

First large-scale edition, with nearly 1 million booster packs sold.
Introduced new cards such as Neutral (no element) units and additional Epic and Legendary units.
Beta Edition subsets include:
Beta Core: 79 core cards.

Beta Promo: 6 exclusive promo cards.

Beta Reward: 48 units and 1 summoner, earned by completing daily quests.

Essence Orb: Promotional mini-set with 25 cards in limited packs (200,000 created).

Main features:
Grants a 5% Rshares bonus in battles.
Introduced 5 epic and 5 legendary summoners for the main elements, obtainable through airdrops and packs.
Beta Promo: Included exclusive cards obtained through the SeedGerminator promotion and the Mystery potion.
Essence Orb: First mini-set within the edition, with cards of varied origin.

Game mode:
All Beta cards are playable in ranked battles in Wild mode.

Pack summary and availability

There are two types of potions to improve the odds when opening booster packs:

Alpha: 300,000 packs created, extremely rare today.
Beta: 900,000 packs and promotional subsets such as Essence Orb (200,000 packs).
Both editions offer unique bonuses and can be found in secondary markets or through filters on the in-game market page.
