Hello HIVERS
How are you today? I am fine here and hope you are too. Another week, another Splinterlands post. Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS challenge. Today we have LOST MAGIC ruleset as our main theme.

LOST MAGIC ruleset forbids you to use any magic units in the battle. So all the units will be either Melee units or ranged units. So mostly people will take these two approaches:
- To counter opponent melee attacks, they will employ Thorns and Demoralize abilities.
- To counter opponent ranged attacks, they will employ Headwinds and Return Fire abilities.
Those two are taken from the official battle mage secrets post and https://www.splintercards.com/ which I used to use them in past. However I will use my own opinion. The most important thing is to employ these two abilities:
- Armor... Either it's protect or repair, this ability will help protect your squad by maximizing the use of armors.
- Shield... Either it's a melee or a range, they both will be deducted 1 point damage or they will be null-ed by shield ability if the damage is 1 only.
In this opportunity, I will show you guys how I exploit a thick armor tank and a repair ability users to win in this ruleset. Ok lets see the battle
THE BATTLE
This was a Modern Silver league rank battle, and I was using My own account which was only a bronze league max level and my opponent came with a max level silver league units . Here were the rulesets we had here
The real challenge was not the LOST MAGIC one, but more on that 20 Mana Cap. It's hard to build up a good team with limited mana cap and to put it more tricky, we had equalizer ruleset. Everyone would have the same health points, so there would not be any standout beef wall, everyone would be as fat as the other.
So here was my line up:
Position | Card | Ability | Plan and Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Summoner | ![]() | +1 speed, +1 Armor | Kelya Frendul was the best summoner I had for this battle. Kelya's +1 Armor ability was the crucial factor for this ruleset, because every attacks would be physical ones. |
Main Tank | ![]() | none | This main tank role was the hardest for me to choose. Either I should go with this Cruel Sethropod or I would go with the famous Xenith Monk. In general, Xenith Monk was a better all rounder choice however... Sethropod had a lot better armor and he could deliver 2 melee damage. The last decision landed on this Sethropod more on the melee damage he could deliver. |
Second | ![]() | Reach | 32 melee damage and 4 speed, Tide Biter definitely possessed fast heavy damage for a small units. Currently he was the best choice for a 3 mana damage dealer. It's a silver league battle, so we could not expect something spectacular from any units |
Third | ![]() | Repair | This ninja turtle was my key units, the heart of my line up and the one who would make my meta works. I needed his repair ability and he was the only unit who could repair and attack at the same round. So he would defend and attack together and would not make my team lose some momentum due to being idle. |
The Fourth | ![]() | Sneak | Uraeus would be my last units who held the role of backline tank. His 2 melee damage and an armor was my main consideration to put him in over Pelacor Bandit and any other units. Let's hope he could perform well. |
It's a very big gamble not to go with 6 units during the Equalizer ruleset, because I would lose the opportunity to get some extra meat walls here... However I think I have set the best one with my available limited collection, so Let see how this battle would go
ROUND 1
- The battle started with both of us Buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents.
- My opponent came with 8 Melee Damage and 1 range damage. It's a combined 9 damage per round.
- My team had 6 Melee damage and 2 range damage. Combined all it's 8 damage per round, 1 damage lower than my opponent fire power.
- This should be a though one, my opponent came with max silver level, making all his units stronger than mine.
ROUND 2
- My Uraeus missed his first attack, this made my team looked bad at the beginning of round 2.
- Their Uraeus had 2 melee damage, their Pelacor Bandit had 2 too. Combined they became 4 melee damage and took out my Uraeus out from this battle.
ROUND 3
- Their side was still on the lead. It's 5 vs 3. It did not look good for my side, did it?
ROUND 4
- Round 4 started wutg 4 vs 3, It looked like my team managed to less the gap.
- I was not sure if Cruel Sethropod would survive this round...
ROUND 5
- None died in round 4 and luckly my Sethropod survived due to speed difference. However He died in this round.
- Later my team managed to took down their Uraeus.
ROUND 6
- It's 3 vs 2 now however one of opponent units was a non attacking one so basically its 2 vs 2.
- It looked like a win was moving to my favor here. I only needed to take down their bandit, then the rest would be history.
ROUND 7
- It's still 3 vs 2, but this time their Bandir looked on bad. I needed to land 2 more hits to send him to after life.
ROUND 8
- Finally their bandit died, so none of them could attack now. Their became sandbags and my win was guaranteed here. Good Game
CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION
I won and this was not an easy battle. My opponent did come with a great line up, if I chose to focus on sneaking, I would have lost badly. However the reason why I have won, its more on my approach which exploit better on the rulesets. It proved that REPAIR did really work on LOST MAGIC ruleset.
It's not that Swamp Spitter so strong that made me win the battle, but his ability, repair, was the key how I could win the battle. could replace Swap Spitter with Scavo Hireling and Kulu Swimhunter the result should be the same.
Picking Swamp Spitter is wiser if we have a good amount of mana cap, so in that battle actually I made a bad decision however my meta still better and I still won.
That's my post for today LOST MAGIC secrets. Repair your armor!!
