2024 Battle Of The Day 186/366

BATTLE LINK -- July 4, 2024 -- Day 186 of 366 vs. @choychoy

Today's battle from Modern Champion 3 is a 30-mana encounter with three rulesets: Explosive Weaponry, Close Range, and Aimless. Only the water element was off limits, so my opponent and I both chose to run with Akane for the dragon element. They chose death and I chose life. My how times are changing...

One of the biggest draws to the life team is its choices of null attack monsters for weapons training. Today's featured card is the Chaos Legion life reward card common, Pelacor Conjuror. Is it a frequent choice as a versatile, low-mana tank, with its high speed, flying, and phase making it difficult to hit by any type of attack. And now in a meta dominated by Venka, its Divine Shield comes in handy to blank the first successful attack.

With a Venka with blast on both sides of the battle, this wasn't going to be a long contest. Their Venka got to attack first due to their speed dominance from Naga Assassin, and I would have been toast if not for the divine shield on Conjuror and Aves Strugis slowing down the excessive blast damage. Conjuror also took a beating from Kei, but its high starting health meant that it survived at 1 and was able to make two key attacks before going down.

Those two attacks proved decisive, dealing just enough damage to make my attack back with Venka much more damaging. I managed to take down their first four monsters (including their Venka) just from the trampling ambush attack. But if not for the featured card, Pelacor Conjuror, doing the dirty work by soaking up damage and getting its dual attack in, my Venka would have fallen short. Count this one for the home team!
