July Recap & Setting our goals for August
Hey Splinterlands fam!
Wow, July has come and gone in a flash! I’m excited to share all of my highlights with you. Plus, I am setting some awesome goals for August that I can’t wait to dive into. Let’s get started!
Introduction
Hey there, Splinterlands fans! If you're new around here, I'm @easilykilled, your fellow adventurer in the world of Splinterlands. I enjoy the opportunities in web3 and crypto and have been a long time lover of all things TCG(Trading Card Games).
I initially dipped my toes into Splinterlands by grabbing the Summoner's Spellbook, a handful of packs and some cards over 2 years ago, but life took me on a bit of a detour (chasing gains on another blockchain, you know how it is). However after a long hiatus, I'm back and have rediscovered the fun this game has to offer. Let's explore all the exciting updates and adventures together!
July News:
Splinterlands ecosystem update
In the last month there was a release of soulkeep and to be honest with you, I tried it very briefly but struggled to get past the tutorial levels.
1 click set rentals have been added to the game, this is part of the teams drive to make the game more accessible for new players.
The 7th conflict was introduced Eternal Tofu! with some awesome lore, full disclosure I haven't taken part in any conflicts.
There also was a proposal raised by the splinterlands team to try raise some funding from the hive community.
My account update
Seasonal results
As a returning player, I had to start the month in the lowest league, However I was able to finish the 2 seasons in July in Gold 3 and Gold 2 respectively.

Collection growth
The account power grew over the month by almost 5000, a result of having some gladius points available and using my glint earnings on the legendary reward cards

Speaking of the soulbound reward cards, I was able to buy 3 in July and received 2 Ava the Undaunted and Berix Snakeye
SPS growth
July saw a growth in the account total SPS - from 2,458.719 to 4,021.375 that is a SPS increase of 1,562.656 (however 500 of that was from winning the twitch/patreon monthly subscriber raffle on bunsbagsandcaps twitch stream

Market Movements
My collection isn’t that big at the moment, which is why I’m currently keeping an eye on the market. I’m especially interested in max-level Chaos Legion cards, with current prices of around $2 for the rares, $3-4 for the epics, and $5 for the legendaries there are definitely deals to be found.
Additionally, I’m looking to build up my collection in the sets I missed out on while I was away, like Rebellion and Riftwatchers. I don’t have many cards from these sets yet. With Chaos being rotated out of modern some time in the near future we are presented with good deals there but have to keep that in mind.
Other considerations are gold foil cards, having more of them will allow me to compete in gold foil brawls and tournaments.
Hive ecosystem
My goal for the next month is to continue working on my submissions for the weekly challenges, as I keep getting overlooked by the curators. I would also like to take my blogging rewards and use that to power up my hive account.
I would like to increase this amount in order to earn curation rewards by vote on others posts, I have always liked this about hive, where by enjoying someone's work and upvoting it both the author and you as a reader are rewarded.

Long-term Growth
SPS earning of 1500 in August: One of the main goals for my account is to be self sustainable/profitable, this roughly equates to a monthly requirement of 1000 SPS to cover card and SPS rentals, I would like to rather aim for 1500 in order to continue competing in modern and start to build my SPS bags. last month we did reach this amount but 500 SPS was a lotto and can't be relied upon :P
Increasing Collection Power by 5000 in August: Another important objectives is to build up my collection power. This means acquiring more high-level cards and increasing the overall strength of my deck. It would be very nice to remove the reliance on rental cards, not that I think this will happen for some time.
Max-Level Cards: I’m aiming to get more max-level cards in my collection. It’s a significant step towards improving my competitive edge in battles and cutting rental costs.
Reducing Rental Needs: I want to decrease the number of cards I need to rent each season. By investing in my own collection, I hope to rely less on rentals and build a more self-sufficient deck.
Improving Tournament Performance: Doing better in tournaments is a key goal for me. I’m working on refining my strategies and improving my gameplay to achieve higher placements and earn better rewards.
Hive growth: As mentioned above I would like to increase my presence on hive by continuing to post articles and grow my Hive Power.
These goals are all about enhancing my gameplay experience and making the most of what Splinterlands and Hive has to offer. I’m excited to tackle these challenges and see where my efforts lead!
