Hello everyone, it's time for another weekly battle challenge so lets dive right in.
Carrion Shade
For this week we have the Carrion Shade. Lets check out his stats:
Starting at level 1 he has 1 melee damage, 2 speed and 2 hp. Level 2 doesnt change anything, but at level 3, which i have him at he gains the Flying ability, which makes him perfect for a back-line protector to maybe get a miss or two. At levels 5 and 9 he gains another point of Speed, and at level 7 a point in damage. But these are outside of my range for now, so I will be using my level 3 Carrion Shade.
As a new player I have been trying to level up the cheaper splinters first, which includes the Death splinter which I will be using for this battle - Thaddius Brood. For the moment I have him at level 2, because there are some nice bonuses the cards gain. Not exactly my favorite splinter, but is is definitely very strong.
Rulesets:

- Available splinter: Life, Death, Dragon;
- 20 mana cap;
- Spreading Fury: All monsters gain the Enrage ability;
- Healed out: All healing abilities have been removed from Monsters and Summoners.
So upon seeing these rulesets, as I dont have the good (or any, lol) Dragon monsters yet, so I decide to go for a sneak attack team. Lets see the team:
Team:
Monster: | Why did I choose it: |
---|---|
![]() | Perfect fit for the Rulesets imo. The -1 magic damage won't be much use as the main magic damage splinter aren't available. The -1 hp would make it easier to kill off the backline faster. |
![]() | Not much to talk about him. As the mana cap is only 20 we wont see much damage. He's the most polular main tank for the splinter. Only 6 mana, the Thorns ability, 3 speed and an amazing 9 hp at level 1. I will be using my level 2 Windeku for the extra 1 hp he gains, because he is rare and thats the max I can use him. |
![]() | Next up is probably my favorite Chaos Legion death monster - Silent Sha-vi. At level 3 (which is max for my level 2 Thaddius) he has 4 speed, 3 melee damage, Sneak and 5 hp. |
![]() | Uraeus. Perfect pick for the Sneak team, only 3 mana, at level 2 - 2 melee damage, and a massive bonus - 1 shield. Perfect for back-line. Not the fastest sneaker, but he's quite good. |
![]() | The star of this weeks match. Already talked about him, so - level 3 for the Flying ability. Combined with the last card they provide a very good back-line defense, because of the Enrage ruleset I decide to go for a bit more defensive instead of the Undead Badger, because an enraged monster will plow through the backline if not stopped. |
![]() | A second back-line defender, just to protect us from other sneaks with his Dodge ability. |
Lets get into the battle, which you can check out here.
Round 1
As the battle begins I'm feeling quite optimistic, just because the enemy monsters are all level 1, but his summoner (also Thaddius) is level 4, which kind-of doesnt make much sense to me. So our Windeku has 1 more hp and he should hold up without breaking a sweat in the front-line. Seeing that his Silent Sha-vi is level 1, we now know that we will hit first.
Our Sha-vi hits theirs, leaving him at 1 hp and enraged to attack next, but luckily Chaos Agent's is good at his job and he dodges the enraged Sha-vi attack, but on the next hit he falls down to the Undead badger's might.
As there are no more monsters left on our team with Ranged or No-attack Death Elemental attacks our Cursed Windeku to take away his 1 bonus hp we have from our rank 2 and Enrages him. The Cursed Windekus exchange an attack and Uraeus manages to land an attack on the Enraged enemy Silent Sha-vi and finish him, which concludes round 1.
Round 2
Starting round 2, things are looking pretty well. We get abit lucky for our Cursed Windeku to attack first and kill the enemy, leaving us with 1 hp. Next up our Silent Sha-vi kills the Death Elemental and Undead Badger kills our Windeku, but sadly dies to his Thorns.
Thinking now even if in round 2 the enemy has attacked first, we would've easily won the battle, just because of that 1 miss we had in Round 1.
That was kind of a short battle, but with Enrage and 20 mana cap we cant expect much more, haha.
Thank you for your time, have a wonderful week and see you next time!
P.S.: Shoutout to @kyo-gaming for the awesome dividers. Check them out here.
