I ran both parts of the name through some translators and discovered:
- Mahkah
In Malay: Court (as in a royal or legal court)
In Sioux (Native American origin): Earth
- Hemlig
In Swedish: Secret or Hidden
Now that’s interesting.
Possible Interpretations
Depending on which language lens you view it through, the name could mean:
"Secret Court" – A hidden arbiter of judgment. Could Mahkah be passing sentence on her enemies from the shadows?
"Earth’s Secret" – Perhaps she holds ancient knowledge tied to nature, or serves as a guardian of the land’s hidden power.
"The Hidden Tribunal" – A spiritual judge or mystic enforcer. Given the minotaur archetype’s mythological ties to trials and labyrinths, it fits.
These meanings feel right at home in the Earth Splinter, where power often lies in natural balance, hidden knowledge, and ancient forces.
