Here's a link for this week's challenge
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_1a1e6fc180d06bda37a1dd7d17f86d48&ref=jingo-submo
Here's the ruleset
Lineup:
Summoner: Delwyn Dragonscale
The available splinters are fire which is known for melee buffs, life which is known for ranged attack buffs and dragons which somehow get ignored half the time (even when the weekly battle challenge is dragons). With the Armored Up ruleset and a high mana cap, this was the perfect time to bring in Delwyn for a magic buff and get under my opponent's armor.
Tank: Djinn Chwala
Thorns are fantastic when you expect your opponent to have melee in their tank position. It's almost always a good assumption that your opponent will have a melee attacker in their tank position.
1st position: Void Dragon
It's like a flying Djinn Oshannus for 5 mana. Somehow this card is still available for under $6!?! I love having available packs of Chaos Legion on the market.
2nd position: Magi of Chaos
3 magic damage under my opponent's armor. Sign me up.
3rd position: Djinn Renova
3 magic damage under my opponent's armor and the Strengthen ability. Yess!!
4th position: Temple Priest
3 more magic damage under my opponent's armor. how can I say no to that. Are you seeing a theme here?
Final position: Chaos Dragon
SCATTERSHOT, BLAST and FlYING. This is all paired up with a powerful magic attack under my opponent's armored up monsters for up to 8 (that's not a typo) 8 magic damage per turn. In the first round it hits my opponet's Goblin Mech for 4 damage, 2 blast damage to the Chain Golem and 2 blast damage to the Sand Worm. For the longest time I was thinking it dealt 3 blast damage to the neighboring monsters, but 2 was more than enough to get the job done in this battle (and most others).
Did my strategy work?
That's an unequivocal YES! I didn't lose a single monster against huge damage dealing monsters from my opponent.
What will I try differently next time?
More of this please. For some reason I got it right that this was an Armored Up ruleset and went with magic. When I got to selecting individual monsters, I reversed it in my head as the Unprotected ruleset and passed over Adelade Brightwing who would have been an even better choice than Djinn Renova for the same mana cost. The same lopsided outcome would have happened if I kept it straight, but it was a missed opportunity for the Repair ability.
Do I like Dragons?
YES, dragons are my favorite splinter. Life is my second favorite splinter to pair dragons with behind water.
