Good afternoon my dearest community, happy Wednesday to all who are here and welcome to a new entry for the weekly drawing contest of the community, today I decided to continue a little with my practices on drawing and painting elements of nature such as fire, water, etc; and that is why I decided to choose this time the Magnor card which is a giant who lives in the (molten mountains). This is a character that, although he doesn't manipulate fire, even if his story is closely related to this element, mostly because of the environment where he lives, also I really liked the design of the card and that's why I decided to recreate it in my style and I hope you like it:
Buenas tardes mi queridísima comunidad, feliz miércoles para todos los que por aquí se encuentran y sean bienvenidos a una nueva entrada para el concurso semanal de dibujo de la comunidad, el día de hoy decidí continuar un poco con mis practicas sobre el dibujo y pintado de elementos de la naturaleza como lo son el fuego, agua, etc; y es por ello que decidí elegir esta vez la carta de Magnor el cual es un gigante el cual habita en las (montañas fundidas). Este es un personaje que, aunque no manipula el fuego, aun si guarda mucha relación su historia con este elemento, más que todo por el entorno donde habita, además me gustó mucho el diseño de la carta y por eso me anime a recrearlo a mi estilo y espero les guste:
PROCESS / PROCESO
First of all, what I did was to try to capture the character as I more or less captured his essence, at first glance it seemed to me a character with a very strong and fierce personality and character, and that was what I tried to resemble in my sketch; I did it with a pose in which he holds his spear which is a large branch of a tree. The choice of colors was quite personalized, I took several colors from my personal color palette to establish the skin and its volume; then I made the clothing with a color quite similar to the skin, but very inclined towards red or salmon tones.
Primero que nada, lo que hice fue tratar de plasmar al personaje como yo mas o menos captaba su esencia, a primera vista me pareció un personaje con una personalidad y carácter sumamente fuerte y feroz, y eso fue lo que traté de asemejar en mi boceto; lo hice con una pose en la cual sostiene su lanza la cual es una gran rama de un árbol. La elección de colores fue bastante personalizada, tomé varios colores de mi paleta de colores personal para establecer la piel y su volumen; después la vestimenta la hice con un color bastante parecido al de la piel, pero muy inclinado hacia los tonos rojos o salmones.
The construction of the skin I did as usual, I took the airbrush and began to establish the areas of depth and illuminated areas to have a basic notion of how to create the most realistic volume; after this I was giving flat brushstrokes and signatures in certain areas with a dark color to establish the deepest leftovers and shadows of occlusion. After finishing defining well the musculature of the character which apparently is very strong, the next thing I did was to focus on painting the eyes, here I decided to paint his eyes in a bright orange color that I liked a lot.
La construcción de la piel la hice como de costumbre, tomé el pincel aerógrafo y comencé a establecer las zonas de profundidad y las zonas iluminadas para tener una noción básica de como crear el volumen más realista; después de esto fui dando brochazos planos y firmas en ciertas zonas con un color oscuro para establecer las sobras mas profundas y sombras de oclusión. Después de terminar de definir bien la musculatura del personaje el cual aparentemente es muy fuerte, lo siguiente que hice fue centrarme en pintar los ojos, aquí me anime a pintar sus ojos de un color naranja brillante que me agrado mucho.
I gave shape to the clothes of the character as if he was wearing a kind of robe in roman style perhaps, this I did with the watercolor brush and a square tip brush to achieve that good texture something worn or old; I decided to add a fabric similar to the forearms of the character because I thought it would look better with them. The hair from the beginning I was encouraged to paint it a jade green because I didn't want to get to such dark tones, for this I worked for a long time and that's how I managed to build a very curly and careless hairstyle, as normally has someone who lives in the outdoors.
Le di forma a la vestimenta del personaje como si llevara puesta una especie de bata a estilo romano quizás, esto lo hice con el pincel acuarela y un pincel punta cuadrada para lograr esa buena textura algo desgasta o antigua; decidí añadir una tela parecida a los antebrazos del personaje pues me pareció que se vería mejor con ellas. El cabello desde un inicio me anime a pintarlo de un verde jade pues no quería llegar a tonos tan oscuros, para esto trabaje un buen rato y así fue como logre construir un peinado muy a estilo rulo y descuidado, como normalmente tiene alguien que habita en la intemperie.
Finally, I only dedicated myself to build the spear which I painted as if it were a piece of branch of a large tree or oak, for this I applied many shades of brown, black and a little sandy color for more realistic wood details; after finishing with the spear the next thing was to paint some long and worn tree trunks in the back to complement. Finally, I created the fire in the farthest part of the drawing, I painted huge flames of an uncontrollable fire which is a consequence of the lava flowing through the mountains that this character inhabits.
Finalmente, solo me dedique a construir la lanza la cual pinte como si se tratara de un trozo de rama de un gran árbol o roble, para esto aplique muchos tonos marrones, negros y un poco de color arenoso para los detalles de madera más realista; después de terminar con la lanza lo siguiente fue pintar algunos largos y desgastados troncos de árbol en la parte de atrás para complementar. Por último, cree el fuego en la parte mas lejana del dibujo, pinte enormes flamas de un incontrolable fuego el cual es consecuencia de la lava que fluye por las montañas que habita este personaje.
