Back in the early days of me playing Splinterlands I enjoy using Fire and Water Splinters a lot. In almost all my battles it was those two go to splinters for me. As I progress in the game I came to realize in order for me to thrive and success constantly in the game I had to balance my card collection with all six splinters. There are mainly two reasons for this.
The Daily Quests randomly can pick a splinter out of all six. If I do not have enough cards for a specific splinter I may need to reset the daily quest. However I am only limited to one reset in quest within a 24 hour time frame. This forces me to focus on each splinter of cards and upgrade when ever I could to stay competitive for all splinters.
The rank battles will in occassions select only certain splinter to be played in the battle. When this is set forth players who do not have sufficient cards with those allowed splinters they essentially forfeit the match against their enemy. I do not want to be put in a situation where I face an opponent that is in similar ranking than me but I lack per say the splinter that is allowed to battle. In that situation I basically wasted my time and ECR to have to forfeit the match or make a weak attempt to win.
For instance in the snapshot above splinters life and death were not able to partake in the battle. Hence having all splinter filled will help in staying competitive.
Fire
Monsters in general have strong melee attacks and quick speed. My opinion is the splinter is good against monsters that have low health and low speed. One of the game's strongest if not the strongest Summoner is Yodin Zaku. This makes fire splinter a go to splinter for aggressive players who want to attack before asking questions.
The following is a very short overview of the splinters in the game.
Water
Although for water there are more melee monsters the stand outs in water splinter are the magic monsters. This works well with water's summoner Alric.
Earth
Earth splinter has a good mix of melee and ranged attacking monsters. To add to it their health tend to be high too. Since the magic collection lacks using earth splinter I would say overall water splinter still preferred more in carpet locations.
Life
Life is the splinter that has most of its monsters with a toughness stats. This makes me believe Life splinter is more of a defensive splinter than an aggressor. One ability that stands out with Life splinter is the repair. Since most life monsters have a toughness if I we.
Death
The opposite of life is death. Even though title of splinter may appear to be evil but instead it can be a decent competitive death splinter. Death splinter is good with magic monsters but I still think Water is superior.
Dragon
A lot of dragon splinter monsters have high mana counts. On the flip side the attacking stats and health high would be sufficient for competing with other splinters. Due note that if dragon is selected players still require to pick splinter color monsters that would mix with dragon.
Honorable Mention
Neutral monsters that were first introduced in reward cards and beta packs I got hooked. These cards can be used in conjunction with the main splinter chosen in battle.
