If you've spent any time in the lower tier leagues, I'm sure you've noticed that Novice and Bronze are flooded with Arlic Stormbringer and Magic damage. Since magic is arguably the most powerful attack type, given that it ignores armor and hits straight to the hearts, nearly all newer players religiously use the water deck / magic combo - and rightfully so. If my enemy has a battle history that shows they're on a magic deck streak, my go-to choice is always Bortus paired with Torhilo the Frozen.
At the time of writing this post, it costs around 3.5 DEC per day to rent Torhilo the Frozen - about the same amount as One Win in the Bronze I league. Torhilo's Void ability paired with Bortus' -1 Magic damage stat elimintes all incoming magic damager from the enitrety of the cards in the starter water deck (a total of -2 Magic damage). Of course Melee and Ranged attacks will still hit, but Torhilo at level 1 has 8 Health and 4 Armor - It'll take a lot of hits to take him down. He does have a fairly high mana cost, but Torhilo can usually solo a fully stacked low-level magic deck if your battle only has a 12 mana cap.
If you find yourself facing a lot of Arlic magic decks while climbing your way out of the Bronze league, I highly reccomend giving this card a shot. if the Mana is available, load up your own magic cards behind Torhilo and sit back and watch while all of your enemies shots deal 0 damage!
Let me know if you have your own counter to the low-level magic decks that we constantly encounter.
