Greetings,
How are you doing, my friends?
In vacation, there are so many activities to do outside that sometime I found my progress in Splinterlands slower than before.
It may also be the return of skilled players who got more time to focus on building interesting strategies in the game.
This edition of the social media challenge, I am interested to find a battle in my recent game history to explore with you in details.
I got the feeling this combat will be amazing to explore and learn new tricks.

Rulesets

Only Units with even Mana cost
One additional gladiator can join your line
All Units have Blast
Mana value: 99
It has been a long time since I have seen such interesting rules applied in one battle. The unlimited mana offers tremendous opportunities to the fighters.
The time has come to unleash the real potential of most warriors in my best deck in Wild Format.
Lets go

A. Powerful understanding of the rules
I was happy to see the removal of mana limitation in this battle. The second rule about the blast ability brought the same reaction as your. The urgency to find first warriors with deflect ability to protect the inner team from blast. Deflect and taunt ability work well in this situation, but I was not going for this strategy.
In the arena, the opposition could do the same reasoning and build a counter-attack using the Gladius cards in the arena. Let see what happened.

Immortalis brought to the arena a serious team anti-magic attack. It was clear that any opposition build on magic strikes would have failed against the void and healing on his side.
I was tempted to play with magic attack knowing the power of magic with blast but luckily my team was built around range warriors.
It is one of the lesson I got from this combat to avoid the obvious choice because the opposite side may have a serious defense against the regular selection in this circumstance.
My team had as lead Sloan who game range plus one to all friendly warrior in the arena. Also, I made sure to add in a second position Bosun with deflect ability to stop the blast coming from the front.

B. Battle Plan
Bear was the most adapted tanker for this combat, he well protected his team during the entire combat. The support from Venary was vital to Bear survival. Healing is a key factor in this combat with Legends.
The range warriors can not play in this combat from the front row so it is imperative that Bear position hold as long as possible. It is a risky strategy, but the offensive power from Runner Crystalsmith and Arbalest was causing unrepairable damage to the opposite side.

I found this combination really stable. It will be even more powerful if I could use taunt, deflect and triage combo as a mechanism of defense in this type of combat.
The mana restriction does not hold the players so the freedom to explore new strategy is a reality.

C. Can Gladius card in the game change the outcome?
Gladius warriors with the blood special ability can rapidly change the balance of power in the arena. However, the overall strategy should support the action of Gladius warrior in the team.
I did not find the right cards to support my range attacks plan that will include a gladius card on my side.
On the contrary, Immortalis ally had one of the most powerful Gladius warrior Towershead in the arena. This Gladius card could have destroyed a magic team, but I played a archer team.

Have you played a similar battle where you countered the enemy plan with the combo taunt deflect and triage abilities?
It is in my opinion one of the best line you can build in a combat on Splinterlands. Blast ruleset was a regular lost on the past. The constant construction of my collection and pilling up experience created this opportunity to fight back when rulesets arrive in certain order.
Hope you have learned many tricks in this combat. Have a great time in the game.
