A few days ago, I tried Splinterlands again without renting/buying cards to determine if I will enjoy the game.
I already had the Spellbook from years ago, and as I return to Hive, I thought it's a good time!
Starter Decks
The first Novice league were a little interesting. I enjoyed the Water deck at first, but often found the Earth decks destroying me by buffed Magic piercing through armor.
After unlocking my first two chests, I found the Dark Arborist card. That is why I started to pivot into the Death decks, which naturally countered the Earth decks thanks to the Death summoner debuffing magic.
Glint Rewards
By now, I have earned 2,000 glint. I got myself a rare card, a minor chest, and major chest. Overall, I was a little disappointed when the Major Chest ended up to be 7 Legendary Potions.
The Rare Card was Dragon Egg Forager... and yes, it's Dragon type. Without a Dragon starter Summoner, I was not able to use it, so I was a little unlucky.
When the season ends, I'm happy that I'll get more Glint back, but would love to learn best way for me to utilise it!
Ranking Up!
Despite that, with the Dark Arborist and Death Deck, I was able to navigate most challenges and achieved a Bronze 1 Rank!
And with ranking up means that there were 5 chests for me to open. I was happy that I could actually use most of the Legendary Potions, which resulted into 3 cards and 2 more legendary potions.

Plan Forward
I'd love to start earning real rewards. Considering that I have three cards into the Death Deck, once the season ends, I'd like to buy or rent a Death Summoner and few more cards.
When Death Deck is banned, I know I won't always earn rewards but I'd love to start somewhere bit by bit and build myself.
