THE BATTLE
For this week, we will talk about the water monster, DEEPLURKER, and we will discuss the following:
- THE BATTLE RULES
- MY CARDS
- THE FIGHT
After that, we will also talk about the effectiveness of DEEPLURKER in the following:
- IN THE LINE UP
- IN THE PLANNED STRATEGY
So with that, lets start the battle!

THE BATTLE RULES
In Splinterlands, for every battle, there are rules. For this battle, the rules are:

It is 28 mana cap and No standard. Meaning, both players can use any elements and monsters they want as long as its total mana is fitted to the given mana cap. Commonly, the No standard rule is for Bronze III players.
THE CARDS
This part is the most crucial part of the game: The Card Picking. Making sure each cards support each other is my primary goal. For this battle, my strategy is pull off monsters with high speed as a tank and support it in the backline with monsters that has high attacks.
MY CARDS
The first card in the game is the Summoner. For this battle, I decided to use KELYA FRENDUL.
KELYA FRENDUL is a Rare Water Summoner. This summoner increases the speed of your chosen monsters and it also gives an additional shield for every monsters. This additional speed and shield is vital for the game since the order of the cards that will attack depends on the speed. Also, having shield in the battle is a good advantage because it can resist melee and range attacks, no matter how huge the damage is. The only thing that can be seen as disadvantage here is the needed mana to get the card. It is 4 mana which consumes almost 14% of the mana cap. That can limits you on picking the monsters in the battle.
Next, the chosen tank for this battle is the SERPENT OF ELD. This monster is a Rare Water Monster with Dodge ability. Monsters with this kind of ability has higher chance of evading melee and ranged attacks. It has 3 melee attacks, 4 speeds, 2 shields, and 5 lives. By looking at the overall characteristics of this monster, we can say that this monster is one of the starter meta. Usually, it can avoid 5 consecutive attacks (base on my experience). Matching this kind of card to other monsters with low speed would be lethal to your opponent.
For the second position, I decided to use the FLYING SQUID. FLYING SQUID is a Common Water Monster with Reach ability. Monsters with this kind of ability may attack from the second position. It has 2 melee attacks, 3 speeds, and 8 lives. By evaluating the overall characteristics of this monster, we can say that this could be a substitute tank if ever the first monster fails to resist or avoid the attacks, due to its high lives. Its speed could also be an asset in the game since it has 3 speed. Also, this monster can help on creating damage on the battle.
For the third position, I decided to use the DEEPLURKER. DEEPLURKER is a Common Water Monster with Opportunity ability. Monster with this kind of ability attacks monster with the lowest health in the game. This monster has 3 melee attacks, 2 speed, and 6 lives. By the overall ability of the monster, we can say that this monster is very important in the game. Monster with lowest health is normally has the highest damage contribution in the game. By eliminating those monsters, we can reduce the possible damages that we will obtain. Also, this monster has high life. Meaning, it can survive attacks coming from the opponent.
For the last position, I decided to use RIVER NYMPH. RIVER NYMPH is a Rare Water Monster with Cleanse ability. Monsters with this kind of ability removes all the negative effects from the first position to all friendly monsters. This monster has 1 magic attack, 2 speeds and 3 lives. By this monster, a damge is ensured due to the fact that magic attacks never misses, unless an ability used. This monster is perfect to the last position so that it will Cleanse all the monsters that will be in the first position. This monster is a realiable attacker in the field.
Now that we already completed our line up, lets start the fight!

THE FIGHT
The battle starts as the summoners exchange on contesting their effects. Both summoners leveled up the characteristics of their monsters, making the battle more tougher. On the opponent's side, the monsters' speed increases and on my side, the speed and shield of my monsters was also increased.
In round 1, all of the monsters exchange attacks and some of them receives greater damage, making it the reason for them to get eliminated. As the battle continues, my plan on using the speed of SERPENT OF ELD was successful. It evades some of the attacks, making it survive the first round. But for SERPENTINE SPY, its fight is over.
In round 2, fire monsters continue to attack, but lucky for SERPENT OF ELD, it avoids three attacks making it survive until almost end of the round 2. Its luck seems like did not replenish as it destroyed by GOBLIN FIREBALL. So at the end of the round, the SERPENT OF ELD and LIVING LAVA have the same faith; leaving now the battlefield 4 versus 3.
Round 3 has arrive and there are two new frontliners that will receive the most damage. My monsters are eager to take revenge as they continue to create lots of damage to the opponent, but fire monsters try to fight back. The fire monsters are kind of struggling due to the lack of damage they can create. Is this their last round?
Luckily, fire monsters still manage to be in round 4, but this time, they really struggles. Only one monster is creating the attacks while all of my monsters are attacking on all directions. The battle continues, but only one rises. And that is the WATER UNIT.

CONCLUSION
IS THE LINE UP SUCCESSFUL?
Yes, the line up was pretty successful. Everyone did their roles according to their position. For DEEPLURKER, it did its role greatly as it eliminates the strongest in the field. Also, it contributes on creating a massive damage towards the opponent.
IS THE PLANNED STRATEGY WORKS?
The planned strategy works very well. It is very evident in the first round as the tank evades numerous attacks. Also, when it comes to the damage made by the backlines, they did pretty amazing as well. They definitely contributes to the damages for the opponent and DEEPLURKER has a big part of it.
Overall, DEEPLURKER is truly one of the meta in the starter deck. Its existence should be watch in the battle due to the fact that it can create massive damage. I really like DEEPLURKER. Honestly, it is one of my KILLER TRIO, along with SERPENT OF ELD and FLYING SQUID. This monster can create big contribution to the team. The only thing that I will do differently next time is its battle position. I think its ability will be truly maximize if it is positioned in the fourth or fifth position (if there is higher mana cap offered).
