📌 RULESET - Target Practice 📌
Description:
The "Target Practice" rule of the week lives up to its name. It gives a bonus to monsters that attack from a distance, ranged monsters and wizards. This benefit is that these troops gain the Snipe ability.
This ability causes ranged monsters to jump over the monster that is in the first position, usually the tank, and attack the next monster that has a ranged attack, magic attack or no attack.
Knowing these details, some tips to make the most of this rule are: Try to use a team focused on ranged attacks or mage attacks, so they can receive the Snipe; Place a subtank to pull agro from Snipe attacks; Prepare your team against magic and ranged.
📌 MATCH 📌
Description:
The match had an amount of mana considered average or less, we only had 19 mana to choose the team. A positive point of this battle was that most of the elements were available, with only the light left out. Lucky for me my favorites fire and earth were open.
So, since Terra was Open, my strategy for this match was to use the Terra mages buffed by Obsidian as a source of attack since they would gain the Snipe ability and thus theoretically attack weaker monsters. Still, I protected myself against a possible melee team with Queen Mycelia and the Venari Knifer, while for the other scenarios I believed that my DPS would be higher.
In order to defend my magical DPS, I positioned the Failed Summoner in third position to receive the attacks, and if they were magical, he will reflect them back to the opponent. The problem would be if the tank fell, because in that case the Failed Summoner would go to first position and attacks with Snipe would focus on Queen Mycelia. That's why I put Mycelic Morphoid before him.
When we have a rule that gives benefits to monsters, the most common thing is that players seek to expand the advantage by selecting cards that match the rule or that become stronger with it. However, knowing that there may be players who prefer to use other strategies and ignore this point, either because they have stronger cards upgraded with another style or because they simply like to play with other cards such as: Sneak. So, I placed Fungus Fiend in the last position so that if this happened, he would be able to tank 2x hits, due to Queen Mycelia's shield.
⚔️ THE LINEUP ⚔️
OBSIDIAN (SUMMONER)
As the rule guarantees an advantage for long-range monsters, I chose to focus on mages, and which summoner is better to accompany earth mages than Obsidian? It grants them +1 magic, which makes a big difference in the game, since magical attacks ignore armor.
Venari Knifer (TANK)
The choice of Venari Knifer as a tank was mainly due to the mana restriction. I think if it were possible I would have chosen the Unicorn Mustang, as it is more complete. However, the Venari Knifer is very useful against melees, as it has a high speed that helps with dodges, but it has a good attack and of course, the thorns skill that deals damage to melee monsters that attack it.
Mycelic Morphoid (SUB-TANK)
The Mycelic Morphoid in this part has the function of being the tank if the Venari Knifer is defeated, to prevent the Failed Summoner from ending up being a tank and the Snipe attacks instead of going to him go to Queen Mycelia.
Failed Summoner (SUB-TANK)
The best Sub-Tank you can choose in a Snipe match is the Failed Summoner, because it has a good amount of HP and if the enemy uses a mage, he ends up taking damage back. Still, it does all this for just 2 mana.
Queen Mycelia (SUP/DPS)
Queen Mycelia in the party has two functions. The first is to protect your allies against possible melee attacks with your Protect ability, which gives +2 armor. The second is with Princess defeating enemies one by one, with her 2 damage magic attack thanks to Obsidian.
Khmer Princess (DPS)
My second mage DPS on the team is Khmer Princess. This card has a great cost-benefit ratio, being one of the mages with the lowest amount of mana in the game. So, whenever I use Obsidian and the game has a low mana limit, I try to use it, because with this summoner, there is 2 mana for 2 magic. Amazing!
Fungus Fiend (SUB-TANK)
Just like the Mycelic Morhphoid, the Fungus Fiend is a sub-tank. Its function is to serve as a shield to protect the backline in case the opponent has a sneak monster. The best offense is a good defense, and you can never be too prepared.
👊 THE BATTLE 👊
ROUND 0 - Buffs and Debuffs
The initial round of buffs and debuffs began with Obsidian on both sides buffing the mages. Then, Queen Mycelia put +2 shield on all allied monsters and finally, my Venari Knifer lost 1 Attack.
This loss wasn't even that important, because the main DPS are the mages and not my Tank. Thus, his tanking ability was of little use. In comparison, while my Queen Mycelia's buff affected 6 cards, his debuff only affected 1.
ROUND 1
In the first round my Failed Summoner sub-tank already fell, but it did its job well, returning damage to Regal Peryton and Djinn Biljka. The Disintegrator's Shield was already destroyed by Venari when it attacked. Then when the enemy tank attacked, it hit the shield and takes two damage.
The Queen Mycelia and Khmer Princess Combo had an effect, because after the attack, Regal Peryton was left with only 1 HP. In other words, at the end of Round 1 the enemy's two DPS were down to their last HP, and were about to be defeated.
ROUND 2
In this round the Venari Knifer attacked the Disintegrator and left it with just 1 HP, leaving the 3 monsters waiting to be defeated. Queen Mycelia was almost basic, since after the Failed Summoner fell the attacks were now on her, so she took 2 damage and was left with 2 health. She retaliated by attacking and defeating Regal Peryton, but then fell to Djinn Biljka's attack, causing her allies to lose their shield buff.
Soon afterwards, the Khmer Princess attacks and defeats the Disintegrator, leaving only one monster on the opposing field, the Djinn Biljka.
ROUND 3
Round 3 was extremely fast as there was only one monster on the opponent's field.
Venari Knifer attacks and eliminates the last opposing monster, and victory!
🤔 CONCLUSION 🤔
When the battle began, the numerical difference in cards between the two teams became evident. While I used several low-mana monsters, the opponent preferred to focus his mana on just two cards, Disintegrator and Regal Peryton, which I don't think is a good strategy.
The decision to choose the Disintegrator as a Tank in my opinion was terrible. He is a high mana monster, costing 7 cards in a game with just 19. Furthermore, if we count the Summoner, then with two cards, more than half of the available mana is already used up. And it's not even about the amount of mana, because sometimes we see that quality can beat quantity, but in this specific rule there wasn't much chance of someone using melee monsters, which are cards that make sense to use Disintegrator.
I believe the strategy worked well, but the match could have been complicated if the opponent had instead of the Disintegrator a tank counter of mages, or had some over healing. Overall, I really liked this week's rule, because I managed to use the strategy of focusing on a mage team, and it worked. I can't wait to find out what next week will be.

A Partida teve uma quantidade de mana considerada media pra menos, tivemos apenas 19 de mana para escolher o time. Um ponto positivo dessa batalha foi que a maioria dos elementos estavam disponíveis, ficando apenas o light de fora. Sorte minha que os meus favoritos fogo e terra estavam open.
Assim, como terra estava Open a minha estratégia para essa partida foi usar como fonte de ataque os magos do terra bufados pela Obsidian já que eles ganhariam a habilidade Snipe e assim atacariam teoricamente monstros mais fracos. Ainda, eu me protegi contra algum possível time melee com Queen Mycelia e o Venari Knifer, enquanto para os demais cenários acreditava que meu DPS seria maior.
Bucando defender os meus DPS magos, eu posicionei o Failed Summoner na terceira posição para receber os ataques, e caso eles fossem mágicos, ele os refletirá no oponente. O problema seria se o tank caísse, porque nesse caso o Failed Summoner iria para a primeira posição e os ataques com Snipe focariam a Queen Mycelia. Por isso, que eu coloquei o Mycelic Morphoid antes dele.
Quando temos uma regra que dá benefícios aos monstros, o mais comum é que os jogadores busquem ampliar a vantagem selecionando cartas que combem com a regra ou que fiquem mais fortes com ela. Entretanto, sabendo que podem existir jogadores que prefiram usar outras estratégias e ignorar esse ponto seja porque tem cartas mais fortes e upadas com outra estilo ou porque simplesmente gostam de jogar com outras carta como: Sneak. Assim, eu coloquei o Fungus Fiend na última posição para caso isso acontecesse, ele conseguiria tankar 2x hit, por conta do escudo da Queen Mycelia.
⚔️ A LINEUP ⚔️
OBSIDIAN (SUMMONER)
Como a regra garante vantagem para monstros de longo alcance, eu optei por escolher focar nos mago, e qual summoner é melhor para acompanhar os magos de terra do que a Obsidian? Ela garantem a eles +1 de magia, o que na partida faz uma grande diferença, já que ataque mágico ignora armadura.
Venari Knifer (TANK)
A escolha de Venari Knifer como tank foi principalmente pela restrição em mana. Acho que se fosse possível teria escolhido o Unicorn Mustang, por ser mais completo. Entretando, o Venari Knifer é bem útil contra melees, já que tem uma velocidade alta que ajuda nos dodges, mas tem um ataque bom e claro, a skill thorns que dá dano em monstro melee que atacar ele.
Mycelic Morphoid (SUB-TANK)
O Mycelic Morphoid nessa partidade tem a função de ser o tank caso o Venari Knifer seja derrotado, para evitar que o Failed Summoner acabe sendo tank e os ataques Snipe em vez de ir nele vão na Queen Mycelia.
Failed Sumonner (SUB-TANK)
O melhor Sub-Tank que você pode escolher em uma partidade de Snipe é o Failed Summoner, porque tem uma boa quantidade de HP e caso o inimigo use mago, ele acaba tomando dano de volta. Ainda, ele faz isso tudo por apenas 2 mana.
Queen Mycelia (SUP/DPS)
A Queen Mycelia na partidade tem duas funções. A primeira é proteger os seus aliados contra possíveis ataques melees com a sua habilidade Protect, que dá +2 de armadura. A segunda é junto da Princess derrotar os inimigos um por um, com seu ataque mágico de 2 de dano graças à Obsidian.
Khmer Princess (DPS)
O meu segundo DPS mago do time é a Khmer Princess. Essa carta possui um ótimo custo benefício, sendo um dos magos de menor quantidade de mana do jogo. Assim, sempre que uso a Obsidian e a partida tem um limite de pouca mana procuro usar ela, porque junto dessa summoner, fica 2 mana por 2 de magia. Incrível!
Fungus Fiend (SUB-TANK)
Assim como o Mycelic Morhphoid, o Fungus Fiend é um sub-tank. A sua função é servir de escudo para proteger a backline em caso o oponente tenha algum monstro sneak. O melhor ataque é uma boa defesa, e preparação nunca é demais.
👊 A BATALHA 👊
ROUND 0 - Buffs e Debuffs
O Round inial dos buffs e debuffs começou com a Obsidian de ambos os lados buffando os magos. Depois, a Queen Mycelia colocou +2 de shield em todos os monstros aliados e por fim, o meu Venari Knifer perdeu 1 de Ataque.
Essa perda nem foi tão importante, porque os principais DPS são os magos e não o meu Tank. Assim, a habilidade do tank dele foi pouco util. Em comparação, enquanto o buff da minha Queen Mycelia afetou 6 cartas o debuff dele afetou apenas 1.
ROUND 1
No primeiro Round o meu sub-tank Failed Summoner já caiu, mas fez bem o seu papel devolvendo dano ao Regal Peryton e ao Djinn Biljka. O Escudo do Disintegrator já foi destruído pelo Venari quando atacou. Depois quanto o tank inimigo atacou, acertou o escudo e sofre dois de dano.
O Combo Queen Mycelia e Khmer Princess surtiu efeito, porque depois do ataque, o Regal Peryton ficou com apenas 1 de HP. Ou seja, já no final do Round 1 os dois DPS do inimigo estavam com seu último HP, ficando prestes a serem derrotados.
ROUND 2
Nesse round o Venari Knifer atacou o Desintegrator e deixou ele com apenas 1 de HP, ficando os 3 monstros esperando para serem derrotados. A queen Mycelia foi quase de base, já que depois do Failed Summoner cair os ataque agora foram nela, então ela levou 2 de dano e ficou com 2 de vida. Ela revidou atacando e derrotando o Regal Peryton, mas em seguida caiu pelo ataque do Djinn Biljka, fazendo os alidados perderem o buff do escudo.
Logo em seguida a Khmer Princess ataca e derrota o Disintegrator, deixando apenas um monstro no campo adversário, o Djinn Biljka.
ROUND 3
O Round 3 foi extremamente rápido já que só tinha um monstro no campo adversário.
Venari Knifer ataca e elimina o último monstro oponente, e vitória!
🤔 CONCLUSÃO 🤔
Quando a batalha começou, ficou evidente a diferença numérica de cartas dos dois times. Enquanto eu usei diversos monstros de mana baixa, o oponente preferiu focar sua mana em apenas duas cartas, o Desintegrator e o Regal Peryton, o que eu não acho uma boa estratégia.
A decisão de escolher o Disintegrator como Tank na minha opinião foi péssima. Ele é um monstro de mana alta, custando 7 de manda de uma partida com apenas 19. Ainda, se contarmos com a Summoner, então com duas carta já se vai mais da metade da mana disponível. E não é nem pela quantidade de mana, porque as vezes vemos que qualidade pode vencer quantidade, mas nessa regra em específica não existia muitas chances de algúem usar monstros melee, que são cartas que faz sentido usar o Disintegrator.
Acredito que a estratégia funcionou bem, mas a partidade poderia ter sido complicada caso o oponente tivesse ao em vez do Disintegrator algum tank counter de magos, ou tivesse algum over heal. No geral u gostei bastante da regra dessa semana, porque eu consegui usar a estratégia de focar em um time de mago, e ela deu certo. Fico no aguardo para saber qual será a da próxima semana.
