Introduction
Hi! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday.
This is Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion cards, theirs stats, their utility and their market price.
It's been a while now since I discuss about Chaos Legion cards due to the fact that the hype right now is on the Riftwatchers which was just released days ago by which I have a deep dive with the summoners exclusive to that pack edition. I was planning to also make my review to Riftwatchers monsters but I still need to familiarize to those cards and gather more battle data so, for the time being, I will go back to the new abilities offered by the Chaos Legion. Last time, I talk about Recharge ability and how they multiply the damage they can inflict at the cost of skipping a round before attacking. Now I'm going discuss about Bloodlust which is technically, not a new ability since we can use this on Guild Brawls but it was Chaos Legion that allows us to be able to use this on ranked battles.
Icon | Ability Name | Description |
---|---|---|
![]() | Bloodlust | Every time a monster with this ability defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats. |
Like I said, Bloodlust is not a new ability but, it was the Chaos Legion that is the first pack edition that allows us to be able to be able to use this ability outside of brawls. Every time that a monster with this ability was able to defeat an opponent, all of his abilities will increase by +1 which will make it more stronger. Right now, Bloodlust is only available for Fire and Life Element.
Prons
- All the stats of the monster will grow + 1 every time that it defeats an opponent. (In the Reverse Speed ruleset, it will give -1 to Speed.)
Cons
- Only 2 cards with the ability are available.

Grum is known throughout his tribe as the strongest warrior. Born in the Sands of Draykh-Nahka, his hard upbringing made him a survivor. There was no weather too extreme, no drought too long, and no enemy too cunning for Grum. He became well-respected within the region for his battle prowess and defended his tribe countless times against the creatures of the wastes. Tales were sung around the fires of Grum's battle with the Great Wyrm of the Sands, the Earth-Shaking Titan, and Velissa the Sorceress. Grum's tribe, known as the Desert Blood, honored tradition, strength, and courage. He grew to become a legend amongst his people.
One day, he felt the spirits of his ancestors calling to him. Going on a solitary journey into the wasteland, he connected with an ancient past. A ruin lay deep underneath the desert that housed powerful mana. That connection imbued him with magic, and he became able to summon fire on his great sword, making him more formidable than ever before.
Grum could have taken this gift and used it to defend his tribe, but instead, he became arrogant. Who could defeat a warrior with a blade of fire? He began traveling, seeking out any foe that pleased him and doing as he chose. Even in the often dangerous draconic lands of Draykh-Nahka, there were few who would cross Grum.
His path took him across the Chaos Legion. Grum battled their warriors, but found he could not overcome their collective might. Their magic, their tactics, and their motivations were strange to Grum. It was something he'd never come across before. Rather than surrender, Grum was impressed. He chose to join the Chaos Legion and use their might to find new foes to face.
Grum now serves in the front lines of battle for the Chaos Legion. While he is a leader of the fiercest warriors, Grum fights right alongside even the newest soldier. He prefers to be the first to break the lines of the enemy and bring their heads back as his trophies. His ferocity and burning blade earned him the name Grum Flameblade across the land.
Grum Flameblade is a legendary card with huge amount of health and armor. With the Void Armor and Void as its abilities, it has protection against magic damage while Giant Killer allows it to deal twice the damage to any opponent with more than 10 mana. The only downside for this card is that it only has 1 Speed but it can increase with Bloodlust together with his other stats.

Jared Scar was born three hundred years ago, in a small town in Praetoria. His mother was a wealthy Ulund and lived a lavish lifestyle, coveting things that either others couldn’t afford or that shouldn’t be possessed. Her reckless life led to a number of encounters with undesirable characters, like Jared’s father. She had no idea he was a vampire when they spent that night together. She never heard from him again after that night, and then eight months later she gave birth to Jared.
ItalicHorrified to find herself with a child that was clearly different from the others, she quickly set about getting rid of him to preserve her reputation within the town. Paying a passing merchant to dispose of the “awful mistake”, she freed herself from the shame that would have befallen her name. However, the merchant couldn’t bring himself to destroy the baby, instead leaving it on the doorstep of his favorite arena in Ulundin. That was where Scar discovered Jared, wailing in a basket and so hungry he could milk a cow dry. Scar took Jared to his home in Ulundin city where the child quickly settled and grew to enjoy a fair life.
Scar was the owner of the Scarred Hand, a small band of novice battle mages, who he used to battle in local arena tournaments. When they weren’t fighting for him, they were rented to other Arena Masters. Scar made a paltry living from it, but as Jared grew older, he helped his adoptive father, showing a remarkable talent for the business. Also, his immense size and strength deterred most of the usual underhand tactics employed by rival Arena Masters.
What Jared could never understand though, were the differences between him and the other Ulund. When folk remarked upon the vicious fangs that lined his mouth, he would tell them how he had filed his tusks to look more imposing. And by the time people realized that he never seemed to age, they were too old and infirm for others to pay heed to their ramblings.
Jared was relatively young when Scar passed away. He was left an ornate chest by his guardian, and when he opened it, he found three items inside that were to change his life forever. A handful of scrolls that carried the title deed to a small arena within the city and ownership rights to the battle mages on their payroll; an iron studded club made from Snakewood, the hardest and most expensive wood in all Praetoria; and a single gold token with a magnificent arena engraved upon its face. Jared pledged that day he would honor his father’s dream and become the greatest Arena Master in all the land. And so began his monopoly on the famous arena games and the impressive buildings they were fought in.
Jared Scar is like a mini version of Grum Flameblade with only 7 mana cost. It does not have much life and armor and it's also very slow but it has the True Strike which makes its every attack hit it's target and Pierce to inflict any excess damage to the opponent's armor to its health. Bloodlust will also compensate for the weakness of this card as long as it is used at the right moment.

Bloodlust in Action
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
![]() Silver League: Modern Format | 48 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Water, Dragon |
![]() Reverse Speed | Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. |
Total Rounds | 4 |
Monsters Defeated: | 2 |
Final Stats | Health: 13, Speed: 1, Armor: 7, Melee: 7 |
With the Reverse Speed ruleset, the priority of the attack is based on what the slowest card is and Fire has lots of slow melee monsters. I choose Tarsa for my summoner because it does not add any speed buff or de- buff and instead gives +1 health and melee damage to all ally monsters. The opponent uses Kelya Frendul which is a bad move because although it gives +1 armor to all ally monsters, it also gives +1 speed which will only make the monsters on the team faster and be the last priority to attack. I placed Grum Flameblade in the first position because it has huge armor, health and melee and also because it does not have an ability that allows it to attack at any other position nor there is a ruleset that allows it to. With only 1 speed, it becomes the fastest monster to attack.
At the end of round 1, their main tank Serpent of Eld was defeated and a damage has been done to their back- line due to the combination of Sneak attacks from sand Worm and Tenyii Striker but since it was not Grum Flameblade that deal the finishing blow, it hasn't gain a stats upgrade. The opponent has also managed to defeat my Djinn Apprentice with the combination of Snipe and Opportunity then reduce some of the armor of the Lava Launcher as my back- line.
In round 2, a considerable amount of damage has been done to the Diemonshark despite it's huge armor but it has also managed to remove all the armo of Grum Flameblade. Both Sniping Narwhal and Lava Launcher has thier armor gone as well so they are exposed to attacks.
On this round, Bloodlust kicks in as Grum Flameblade defeats Diemonshark then it's health becomes 12, it's melee becomes 6 and it grows 1 armor which prevented it form being damaged by Deeplurker. Sniping Narwhal was also defeated by Sandworm.
The battle ended in round 4 as Grum Flameblade defeats Deeplurker, it's health turns 13, melee damage becomes 7, and gained +1 armor again for the total of 7 then Sandworm deals the final attack that defeated Mantoid.

![]() Silver League: Modern Format | 99 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Life |
![]() Aim True | Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target. |
![]() Equalizer | The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. |
Total Rounds | 6 |
Monsters Defeated: | 3 |
Final Stats | Health: 12, Speed: 5, Armor: 6, Melee: 8 |
The Aim True ruleset will allow melee and range monster to attack regardless of their speed and even the opponent has the Blind, Dodge and Flyingability and with the Equalizer ruleset, unless a buff or a de- buff was made, the health of all the monsters will be the same with the monster with highest health. I choose Grandmaster Rathe for my summoner because it gives + 1 armor to all my monsters and each of them will have Void armor which prevents magic attacks to directly go through to the health of my monsters. It also gives the Amplify which will increase the effect of Magic Reflect, Return Fire and Thorns by +1 but with the level of my summoner, there is almost no monsters in modern that have this ability. The opponent uses Tarsa that gives +1 Health and melee attack to all my opponent monsters. I placed Jared Scar as my main tank because it has a huge melee attack and because of the rule set, it has the same health as everyone then followed it by by a bunch of magic damage so that they can directly attack the health of my opponent assuming that my opponent will not use the same summoner as me which I guessed right. I also have Djinn Renova gives +1 health to all to all my monster and Adelade Brightwing which has the Repair ability to repair the armor of the monster with the most damage taken.
In the first round,The attack of Jared Scar has reduced to 4 because of the Demoralize ability of Disintegrator. No one was down but Living Lava gets the most damage with only 1 health followed by Silvershield Sherriff with 3 health and finally, Djinn Apprentice with 6 health.
At round 2, Silvershield Sherriff and Living Lava was out. thanks to the Repair of the Adelade Brightwing, Jared Scar was saved from further damage but this cost her her life because of the combination of Sneak from Sandworm and Tenyii Striker.
On this round, Disintegrator was defeated so that removes the -1 melee de- buff to Jared Scar but we also don't have the Adelade Brightwing to regenerate it's armor. But here is also when it defeated the Disintegrator that it's activates its Bloodlust which increases its stats as well as to grow 1 armor which saved if from the Sandworm which can took it in one hit if not for it.
With round 4, my team was able to take Sandworm but Jared Scar has only 1 health and it is facing against Serpentine Spy while Tenyii Striker was still busy attacking the back.
in round 5, Jared Scar was able to take down Serpentine Spy in 1 hit so it gains stats upgrade and grows an armor so even if Tenyii Striker goes to attack again, it only removes the armor. At this point, he has 7 melee damage and 4 speed which makes him the fastest card.
The match ends in round 5 when Jared Scar deals the final blow, defeating Tenyii Striker. Now the total melee damage of this card has become 8 with 5 speed.
Final Thoughts
Bloodlust is a broken ability so it's just right that there are very few cards with this ability available for ranked rewards. Unlike in Guild brawls where the monster with Bloodlust ability is capped to 1 for every match, we do not have a cap on how many we can use here so its either that they release cards with this ability for a longer time or they decided to place a cap on this monsters maybe at the max of 2 per element. Because if they release more and more of this cards right away, they players will just use it all the time and forget the other cards that they have which will destroy the balance of the game.
