The month of August 2021 has seen an unprecedented inflow of new players in splinterlands. There are people who signed up because of word-of-mouth publicity as well and do not know much about this game.
So, I am writing down a few basics for those who are interested in reading and I am sure it will be useful to you if you are a new player.
Tips for new players
Play your daily quest but please do not keep on playing the same splinter because rules change in every single game and if you use the wrong splinter, you could end up losing more than winning. Of course, I learned this the hard way.
When you play ranked, observe the opponent's last five played matches which will show up and you can determine which splinters he or she or bot used and be able to decide what to use and counteract in order to win. A few seconds of thought and you can do it. practice makes you perfect.
Please do not think that legendaries alone will help you win. In fact, even the ordinary neutral common cards are so powerful that they could change the game. It is all in the positioning. Observe the battles of the leaderboards every day. I used to write down notes after watching the higher leagues' leaderboards.
Make sure you know your monsters. If you can, please list it down on a spreadsheet and write down the newly added monsters that you could get from the dailies. If you happen to get a gold foil card, it would be better to keep it because it can increase your collection power. So, there is that.
Try to invite your friends and you can discuss the gameplay. You can also join the discord of your particular guild or create one if you still do not have a space to discuss it.
Try to scour the markets and grab a good deal because you may not get a second chance. Sometimes, people just let go of cards for cheap prices, and if it's your day, you will get hold of a precious card.
Try to write down the names of the cards you want to buy or rent because it will make your work easier. It is also perfectly okay to play with playable cards.
Learn from your mistakes. Try to use different monsters and see what changes it brings to your strategies in splinterlands.
Are you feeling frustrated after five losses in a row? Get up and leave and come back after a short break. It not only refreshes your mind but also renews the ECR.
Write down your battle strategies on a daily basis and compare the results to the previous day. It will help you learn what improvements you have to make in order to win. You can do it.
