December 2023, and Land was unleashed. We could do something with it.., if you call farming for Grain ‘something’. I hope my memory is serving me correctly regarding the date, but it was like a Christmas present for all us impatient land owners.
For those of us with 50+ lands (me included), we started stuffing monsters on them, not caring too much about which ones went were, so long as the bonuses were applied.
@yabapmatt was telling us to buy stacks of Chaos Legion commons due to their abundance and cheap cost. That’s all well and good, but given a maximum of 1100 PP per monster stack as well as a whopping 50,000 DEC per land, 6600PP per common land was hardly optimal.
No disrespect to Matt, it did feel like sound advise at the time, but now I wince when I see my lands generating such a poor yield. I have Rare lands packed with Venari Seedsmiths generating a total of 6655PP, and of course being maximized monsters, that 50K DEC upkeep cost is also applied.

...'cheap monsters yield quite shit PP results, use them on common plots if you must, not rares ones like this'...
Recently, @cryptomancer announced the locking of monsters that are stacked on land rule is to be abolished. I was gleefully awaiting this and on that day, unlocked EVERY monster I had that was being used to stake.
A day later I removed several partial leveled monsters, that could be combined and free up a land slot. Before the change, it would take SIX days to do this, THREE for the unlocking and THREE more for the cool down.

...'there's little reason to unlock these Djinn's other that to make them unlocked. Let's face it, nobody is going to want to steal them in today's world given their value'...
What a bunch of shit-hole tedium that was, and you also had to add a personal alarm for the unlocking to complete as the unstaking was not going to start itself.
The Problem with my Land Buying Strategy
Between Land 1.5 (December 2023) and now, I have been buying plots when I see those 'smoking' deals come up.

...'gold Forgotten One's. Once a nice rental card, now a fearsome looking digital ornament, or a prospective land slave'...
All my monsters were staked, so I had to buy more for these new lands. Some of them came from past ‘rental monsters’ as rent sucks donkey shit these days, so my rent was decreasing as my stockpile of quite useless Grain increased.
I was finding I had Chaos Legion Epic Gold monsters of 2 BCX (1200 PP), in multiples. Once they fetched a princely sum when rented, but now nobody gives a toss and they are deemed worthless.
Sell them or use them as land slaves?

...'several Gold Grund's about to finish cooldown. Combine them and free 2 slots for other monsters? Seems like a bright idea'...
As the latter, they are great, but 1200 PP per slot? Why not get 600*10 PP for a slot, this being 6600 PP for a single slot with the bonus applied.
But then I had that 6 day wait to do anything, as well as the lost productivity.
It’s better now but not perfect. Why do we have to endure ANY type of cooldown to switch monsters around on land? If they are to remain land beasts, is there a point to this?

...'Battle Orca's. I once used the L6 one for play, the L7 one was purchased much later. if I combine the L5 and L6 they wont exceed 115 BCX. That's optimal'...
Today is the day I will be doing many combines and adding the monsters back to land. The more PP the rarer the land. I know for a fact many other Land Barons are not using their monsters optimally, so now is the time to do something about it.
The excellent Barons Toolkit is still the best application to manage lands, even though it’s out of date and does not support the 1.75 features. I can still see at a glance, where best to place to add these (now much higher PP) monsters.

...'some slots need filing, with combined bigger monsters'...
As I previously removed the monsters, the upkeep stake is still registered on each tract, but if further monsters are bought to maximize them, then more DEC will be required to stake them again.
Slow Asset Depreciation - For now…
Common Totems having peaked at 16,000 DEC or so appear to be declining in price. I would say they are still a little over-valued but may once again get my interest if they are around 11,000 DEC per unit.

...'Common Totems, the last one I bought was just under 10,000 DEC. A little lower please?'...
Rare and above, forget it. Way over-priced though I have several rare ones from a time when this was not the case.
Totem fragments are much rarer since the nerf that restricts only Keeps, Castles and Special lands having the chance to generate them randomly.
It makes sense that they have increased in value, but until there’s another major improvement from @cryptomancer, I see these continuing to steadily de-value.
As for plots, I am still on the lookout for bargains in select tracts. They rarely appear as Land Owners resemble a bunch of hoarders. They don’t like to sell their stacks on the cheap.
Who knows that’s going to happen. That’s everyone’s thoughts.
