Proposal
Splinter Royale (SPR) is a new game set in the world of Praetoria. Development started in Q3 2023 and has been self-funded since then. The Alpha version is currently live at splinterroyale.com
This proposal is for the staked SPS token holders to vote for the DAO to support the Beta development of Splinter Royale (as seen on our roadmap) in return for a revenue share in 2024.
Specifically, we are asking the DAO for $50,000 in BUSD, USDC, USDT, HBD, and/or HIVE, in return for 15% of the revenue made via Cryptocurrencies (such as HIVE, HBD, ETH & co.) from sales of newly minted assets (i.e. Heroes & Skins) throughout 2024.
Payments can be split to $25,000 upfront and $25,000 in January 2024. Receiver of the payments is the account @spr.sps.
The funds will be used for the development and release of a polished Beta, which we're estimating will take about 5 to 8 months. Funds will also be used for ongoing costs, such as server costs and possibly help from contractors.
Specifically, we are asking the DAO for $50,000 in BUSD, USDC, USDT, HBD, and/or HIVE, in return for a 50% revenue share made via Cryptocurrencies up to the first $100,000 revenue (such as HIVE, HBD, ETH & co.) from new sales (i.e. Starter Packs, Battle Passes, Heroes, Avatars & more). This would mean, from $100,000 in revenue, a maximum of $50,000 would go back to the DAO and the revenue share would stop after that. The DAO would also be responsible for converting the received assets into their own preferred assets (i.e. from HIVE into stablecoins)
Payments would be done monthly â 6250$ for 8 months, starting with November 2023 until June 2024. Receiver of the payments is the account @spr.sps in case of HIVE/HBD or an BSC address for the stablecoins.
Members of the DAO would be free to submit a proposal to terminate the payments in case they're unhappy with the progress. In that case, the revenue share would be updated accordingly.
This proposal would give us an initial and recurring monthly liquidity to develop the game and cover server costs.
What is Splinter Royale?
Splinter Royale is an auto-battler, similar to Hearthstone Battlegrounds, where matches are fun and action-packed. The game is built in Unity and can be played on the Web on splinterroyale.com and later as a standalone game on Desktop & Mobile.

One of the goals we have for Splinter Royale is to onboard many players into Splinterlands, SPS and Web3 by providing entertaining and fun gameplay, which was always something we thought the community longed for.
We're also planning to utilise Splinterlands assets, such as cards, tokens and possibly land within the game, giving those assets even more use-cases, which would be beneficial for the DAO as well.
Our Team
There's a saying in Germany, called: "klein, aber oho!" that basically means: "small but mighty".
The team currently consists of @therealwolf, developer and Splinterlands enthusiast, and his wife @artbunny, a talented artist - who questions everything.
While we're aiming to stay lean as a team, the funding would allow us to get limited help from contractors, while providing us enough runway to build out the Beta version as a self-sustainable business.
What were to happen if the proposal doesn't pass?
Our passion for the world of Splinterlands drove us to create Splinter Royale and we truly believe that the game will benefit the whole ecosystem, aiming to bring many new gamers into the world of Praetoria.
And while we didn't come up with the $50,000 lightly, we're quite confident that this kind of money is a good price for a working version of a game. Especially, due to the 15% revenue split, which could make this an even bigger success.
With this said, if the proposal were to fail, we would still develop the game, but would have to shift priorities, like emphasizing product sales to build a runway over refining the gameplay experience.
What happens if the proposal passes?
In that case, we'd toast with a loud "VONAK" and immediately start working on the roadmap!
In Q4 of this year: new abilities and cards. The game currently lacks economy cards (gaining gold vs. doing damage) and more unique effects (like deathrattles). Next up, we'll continue to squash bugs, improve performance & polish the game (pushing an MVP comes with a cost). We'd also start providing standalone clients (Windows, Mac & Linux) and spend time working on the mobile integration.
In Q1 of next year: more game client works (desktop & mobile) as well as implementation of Factions, Heroes & Hero Powers (that's going to be awesome! We can't wait!). We'll also prepare the initial sale and start working on improved rewards.
In Q2 of the next year: more game client work again (hopefully primarily mobile) and finally advanced gameplay with sounds and animations.
And across all of this, we'll of course be giving updates and publish releases!
Proposal Hype
Regardless of what happens, to celebrate a new chapter in the book of Splinter Royale with this proposal, we're also starting out the 1st Alpha season with some special rewards:
- 1st place 1000 SPS + 3 Rebellion packs
- 2nd place 500 SPS + 2 Rebellion packs
- 3rd place 400 SPS + 1 Rebellion pack
- 4th place 300 SPS
- 5th place 200 SPS
- 6th to 10th place 100 SPS
Note: the team is not eligible for this seasons rewards.
The season goes for 4 weeks until the 22nd of November.
And of course, we want to give a big shout out to all the Alpha testers, who battled in glory so far. THANK YOU - very much for your support!
Update October 24th 2023:
We have updated the proposal and crossed out the previous version.
Regarding the changes, we have changed the repayment to a 50% revenue share up to $100,000 in revenue, which would return the $50,000 to the DAO in full. The payments would also be split up to 6250$ â month for 8 months, which can be cancelled via a counter proposal at any time.

Thank you!
